William Floyd was not in Tennessee. His wife's sister Winifred King ma Notes
rried Preacher Timothy Carrington, grandmother of Jabez Floyd's 2nd wi fe. July

and if not contested within 3 months the clai m would go to the county
surveyor for permission. He spends the summe r months clearing the land and
building a log cabin, preparing for hi s family's move from Loudoun, Virginia.
During this time he may have m et William Floyd who had been living nearby at
Lick Creek, also in Wak e Co., NC. William may have been someone who worked
for him clearing t he land. If William's father is Thomas Floyd, his father
would have di ed in 1778. It may be that Timothy returned to Virginia taking
Willia m Floyd with him, introducing him to his wife's sister Sarah King. A y
ear later William Floyd is also granted a Land Grant on the Brier Cree k. In
1788, Preacher Carrington of Cloud’s Creek Baptist Church was a n early
founding member of the church in what became Madison County . Timothy
Carrington with his wife Winny King and Winny's sister Sara h King with her
husband William Floyd move from Wake County, NC in 178 7 after Timothy
Carrington is awarded 300 acres for his Revolutionar y Service in 1786 Wilkes
County, GA. The land is in the Little River a rea which eventually becomes
Madison County, GA. * 1830 Census Femal e aged 80 to 90 in the home of her
son Jabez Floyd but will of 1809 do es not mention her, but wives
automatically inherited property so fema le could be Jabez's mother, a
