- Father: Erc mac Echach RIATA
- Mother: Erca MACLORN
- Birth: ABT 365, Argyll, Scotland, United Kingdom
- Also known as: Loarn mac Eru
- Also known as: Loarn Mac Eirc
- Also known as: King of Scotland Loarn ( Loard Mor)
- Title Of Nobility: Legendary King of Dál Riata
- LifeSketch: Loarn mac Eirc was a legendary king of Dál Riata who may have lived in the 5th century. He was buried on Iona. The "Duan Albanach" and the "Senchus Fer n-Alban" and other genealogies name his father as Erc, son of Eochaid Muinremuir. Loarn appears in Irish traditions as "King of Alba" in the 8th-to-12th-century tale, "Of The Miracles of Cairnech Here" in the "Lebhor Bretnach," the Irish version of the "Historia Brittonum," and in the 10th-to-12th-century legendary and mythological tale, "Aided Muirchertach mac Erca." In these tales, mac Erca spends time with Loarn, his uncle, before murdering him by setting him aflame. Loarn's main significance is as the eponymous ancestor of Cenél Loairn, a kindred whose name is preserved in Lorne. The descendants of Loarn, the Cenél Loairn, controlled parts of northern Argyll around the Firth of Lorne, most probably centered in Lorne, but perhaps including the islands of Mull and Colonsay, Morvern and Ardnamurchan. The boundary to the east was the Druim Alban mountain ridge that separated Dál Riata from Pictland. The chief places of the kingdom appear to have been at Dun Ollaigh, near Oban, and Dunadd near Crinan. The chief religious site may have been on Lismore, later the seat of the High Medieval bishop of Argyll. Several kings of Dál Riata were members of the Cenél Loairn, and thus claimed descent from Loarn. They were Ferchar Fota, Ainbcellach mac Ferchair, Selbach mac Ferchair, Dúngal mac Selbaig, and Muiredach mac Ainbcellaig. In High Medieval times the Mormaers of Moray claimed descent from Loarn, including Findláech mac Ruaidrí, Máel Coluim mac Máil Brigti, Gille Coemgáin mac Máil Brigti, Mac Bethad mac Findláich (also King of Alba), Lulach mac Gille Coemgáin (also King of Alba), Máel Snechtai mac Lulaich, and Óengus. -- Wikiwand: Loarn mac Eirc

(9) Lucius Coelius Antipater, romeinse annalist. Zie s.v. Coelius. [Nuchelmans]
- LifeSketch: Antipater was born in 399 BCE as the son of a Macedonian nobleman named Iolaus. He served as a soldier and diplomat under the kings Perdiccas III (365-360) and Philip II (360-336) and seems to have developed a personal interest in the education of the latter's crown prince Alexander. When the king was killed, Antipater and Philip's trusted general Parmenion made sure that Alexander succeeded his father. Antipater arranged that the army greeted Alexander as king, probably played a role in the murder of a rival candidate, and Parmenion got rid of another candidate. In the following year (335), Alexander rewarded them: he appointed many relatives of Parmenion as commanders in the Macedonian army, and made Antipater supreme commander of the forces in Europe. Both men saw action. Philip had sent Parmenion to Asia as commander of the advance guard of an expeditionary force that was to overthrow the Achaemenid empire; the old general now had to defend himself against the Persian commander Memnon of Rhodes. Antipater was with Alexander during the campaign against the rebellious Greek city Thebes. In 334, Alexander joined Parmenion, leaving Antipater in charge of Macedonia and Greece. Although the main fighting was done by Alexander's army, Antipater was involved in the war too. In the winter of 334/333, he sent reinforcements to Gordium, where Alexander was staying. Next summer, the Persian navy, commanded by Memnon and Pharnabazus, invaded the Aegean Sea and threatened to bring the war to Thrace and Macedonia. With a combination of force and good luck, Antipater kept the situation under control. After Alexander's victories at Issus (333) and Tyre (332), the Persian naval power was broken, and peace returned to the Aegean region. However, the Spartan king Agis III (338-330) had accepted money from Pharnabazus and had built a large army, consisting of 20,000 men. In 331, he organized an anti-Macedonian coalition. Alexander sent enormous amounts of money to Macedonia, where Antipater broke off a campaign in Thrace and built another army, twice as big as Agis' force. In the Spring of 330, the Spartan king was defeated at Megalopolis. He died on his way back to Sparta. Antipater sent his own mercenaries to the east, where they met with Alexander in Sogdia (329). Meanwhile, a conflict had broken out between Antipater and Alexander's mother Olympias. She decided to go to Molossis, the small kingdom where she was born. Here, she quarreled with her daughter and Alexander's sister, queen Cleopatra, who decided to go to Antipater and stayed at his court for seven years. During this period, Olympias continued to write letters to her son, in which she informed him of Antipater's continuing misbehavior. Alexander ignored the first complaints -which must have coincided with the arrival of the reinforcements- but later, he seems to have lost his temper. In 324, when he returned from India, he ordered Antipater to come to Babylon. He sent his trusted general Craterus with 11,500 veterans back to Europe, where he was to succeed Antipater as supreme commander of the Macedonian forces in Europe. Antipater, however, was unable obey. In the summer, Alexander had ordered all Greek towns to accept their exiles and give them back their possessions (text). This had created great tensions and Antipater knew that he could not reduce the strength of his forces. He sent his son Cassander to Babylon, but his diplomatic mission was a failure, because Alexander interpreted Antipater's refusal as a confirmation of the reports by Olympias. The family of Antipater was now in disgrace, and when the king died on 11 June 323 BCE, it was rumored that Cassander had poisoned him. The conqueror was succeeded by his half-brother Philip Arridaeus, who was not only a bastard, but also mentally unfit to rule. Therefore, general Perdiccas was made regent. Almost immediately, the war that Antipater had predicted broke out; it is called the Lamian War. The Athenians had been preparing for some time and were now joined by several other Greek towns. They occupied Thermopylae, and when Antipater arrived, he was repelled and forced to hide in the nearby fortress of Lamia. In the spring of 322, Leonnatus, the satrap of Hellespontine Phrygia, was able to relieve him, but the liberator died in action and the war continued. In the summer, however, Craterus arrived with the 11,500 veterans and a navy that he had built in Cilicia. This meant the end of the war. Using these reinforcements, Antipater was able to defeat the Greeks at Crannon (5 September 322). Their towns, which had been free allies during Alexander's reign, were from now on treated as Macedonian subjects. It also meant the end the Athenian democracy. At the same time, Cleopatra left Pella and went to Sardes in Lydia, where she offered her hand to Perdiccas. A union between the sister of Alexander the Great and a general would serve the unity and stability of the empire, because the unstable Philip Arridaeus would be replaced by a stronger man. There was one complication. Perdiccas was engaged to Antipater's daughter Nicaea, and when this engagement was broken off, Antipater felt insulted. But what really made war inevitable was the growth of Perdiccas' power and the fear which this caused among the other Macedonian leaders - Antipater in the first place, but also Craterus and Ptolemy, the satrap of Egypt. Civil war (the First Diadoch War) broke out in the last weeks of 322. During the next spring, the rebels cemented their alliance by intermarriage. Antipater gave his daughters Phila and Eurydice to Craterus and Ptolemy; Nicaea, who had once been promised to Perdiccas, married to Lysimachus, the governor of Thrace. Perdiccas saw that a formidable coalition was being organized. He decided to invade Egypt, but was killed by his own officers Peithon, Antigenes, and Seleucus (summer 320). Ptolemy and Perdiccas' officers started negotiations. Ptolemy was offered the regency, but he was too smart to take the bait: he wanted to keep what he had won, not risking it in a larger game. He appointed Peithon and an officer named Arridaeus, two people who were clearly lacking prestige and would never be able to stop separatists like Ptolemy. Antipater was not happy with this arrangement. He wanted to be the new regent, because he was capable of keeping Alexander's empire uinted. At Triparadisus (perhaps at Baalbek), he settled the affairs in the way he wanted (details). Early in 319, Antipater and his pupil Philip Arridaeus went to Macedonia, where Antipater succumbed a few months later to old age. He was eighty years old. Antipater was succeeded by an old officer named Polyperchon, but he soon lost control of the situation, and was replaced by Antipater's son Cassander (more). - Father: Eochaid the Poisonous King of KINTYRE
- Birth: 12 JUL 778, Dunolly Castle, Argyllshire, Dalriada/Scotland
- LifeSketch: Alpín mac Echdach was a supposed king of Dál Riata included in a pedigree created in the 10th century to connect the kings of Alba to legendary Dál Riatan and Irish ancestors. In this pedigree Alpín's father is Eochaid, an Irish name, yet he becomes the father of Cináed i.e. Kenneth MacAlpin. Cináed and Alpín are the names of Pictish kings in the 8th century: the brothers Ciniod and Elphin who ruled from 763 to 780. Alpín's alleged father Eochaid IV is not mentioned in any contemporary source.[1] Alpín's mother was Fergusa, daughter of Fergus of Dalriada Above states Alpín was the names of a Pictish King. Alpín has name as, “Alpin, King of Kintyre”: http://www.mostyn.com/wc10/wc10_139.htm http://www.connectedbloodlines.com/getperson.php?personID=I9669&tree=lowell http://royalmiddletons.blogspot.co.nz/2011/04/alpin-of-kintyre.html

- Background: Conn Cétchathach ("of the Hundred Battles", pron. [kɒn: ˈkeːdxaθəx]), son of King Fedlimid Rechtmar and Queen Ughna (Princess of Denmark) got his nickname by killing one hundred other kings to avenge the death of his adopted brother, Cuchulain. According to medieval Irish legend and annalistic sources, Conn is the ancestor of the Connachta (Gaelic dynasties descending from Conn) and, through his descendant, Niall of the Nine Hostages (reigned 379–405), an Irish king who founded the Uí Néill, the greatest dynasty in Irish history that dominated northern Ireland from the 6th to the 10th century (early Middle Ages).

- LifeSketch: This Conn was so called from hundreds of battles by him fought and won: viz., sixty battles against Cahir Mór, King of Leinster and the 109th Monarch of Ireland, whom he slew and succeeded in the Monarchy; one hundred battles against the Ulsterians; and one hundred more in Munster against Owen Mór (or Mogha Nua-Dhad), their King, who, notwithstanding, forced the said Conn to an equal division of the Kingdom with him. He had two brothers - 1. Eochaidh Fionn-Fohart, 2. Fiacha Suidhe, who, to make way for themselves, murdered two of their brother's sons named Conla Ruadh and Crionna; but they were by the third son Art Eanfhear banished, first into Leinster, and then into Munster, where they lived near Cashel. They were seated at Deici Teamhrach (now the barony of Desee in Meath), whence they were expelled by the Monarch Cormac Ulfhada, son of Art; and, after various wanderings, they went to Munster where Oilioll Olum, who was married to Sadhbh, daughter of Conn of the Hundred Battles, gave them a large district of the present county of Waterford, a part of which is still called Na-Deiseacha, or the baronies of Desies. They were also given the country comprised in the present baronies of Clonmel, Upper-Third, and Middle-Third, in the co. Tipperary, which they held till the Anglo-Norman Invasion. From Eochaidh Fionn-Fohart decended O'Nowlan or Nolan of Fowerty (or Foharta), in Lease (or Leix), and Saint Bridget; and from Fiacha Suidhe are O'Dolan, O'Brick of Dunbrick, and O'Faelan of Dun Faelan, near Cashel. Conn of the Hundred Battles had also three daughters: 1. Sadhbh, who m. first, MacNiadh, after whose death she m. Oilioll Olum, King of Munster. (See No. 84 on the "Line of Heber"); 2. Maoin; and 3. Sarah (or Sarad), m. to Conan MacMogha Laine. - (See No. 81. infra). Conn reigned 35 years; but was at length barbarously slain by Tiobraidhe Tireach, son of Mal, son of Rochruidhe, King of Ulster. This murder was committed in Tara, A.D. 157, when Conn chanced to be alone and unattended by his guards; the assassins were fifty ruffians, disguised as women, whom the King of Ulster employed for the purpose.

- National Identification: IND1433
- LifeSketch: son of Fiacha Srabhteine; m. Muirion, dau. of Fiachadh, King of Ulster; and having, in A.D. 326, fought and defeated Colla Uais, and banished him and his two brothers into Scotland, regained his father's Throne, which he kept as the 122nd Monarch for 30 years. __________________________________________________ Wikipedia - Muiredach Tirech, son of Fiacha Sraibhtine, was a legendary High King of Ireland of the 4th century. He gained power by exiling the three Collas, who had killed his father. The Collas later returned and tried to provoke him into trying to kill them. When he didn't, they entered his service and led his armies. He was overthrown by Cáelbad. “In the beginning of the fourth century, Muiredeach Tireach, High-King of Ireland, directed his nephews, the three Collas, to face north and win sword land for themselves. On the ruins of the old kingdom of Uladh they founded a new kingdom -- of Oirghialla -- which was henceforth for nearly a thousand years to play an important part in the history of Northern Ireland, and which was possessed afterwards by their descendants, the MacMahons, O'Hanlons, O'Carrolls, and Maguires.” Story of the Irish Race, Seamus MacManus ************************ Fiacha Sraibhtine, son of Cairbre Lifechair, was, according to medieval Irish legend and historical tradition, a High King of Ireland. On his father's death, Fothad Cairpthech and Fothad Airgthech, sons of Lugaid mac Con, had taken the throne jointly, but within the year Fothad Airgthech killed his brother. Fíacha and the fianna then defeated and killed Fothad in the Battle of Ollarba. Fíacha's son, Muiredach Tirech, commanded his armies, as the king himself was not allowed to go into battle. Once, Muiredach led a victorious expedition to Munster. The three Collas - Colla Uais, Colla Fo Chri and Colla Menn, sons of Fíacha's brother Eochaid Doimlén - gave battle to Fíacha while Muiredach and his army were still in Munster. Fíacha's druid, Dubchomar, prophesied that if Fíacha was to defeat the Collas, none of his descendants would ever rule Ireland, and likewise, if the Collas won, none of their descendants would be king after them. Fíacha was defeated and killed in what became known as the Battle of Dubchomar. __________________________________________________
