- LifeSketch: Freawaru, introduced in l. 2020 of the poem Beowulf, is the daughter of King Hroðgar and Queen Wealhþeow. Freawaru is a freoðuwebbe or "peaceweaver" (an important concept in the poem) who is married to Ingeld, King of the Heaðobards and son of Froda . This marriage was created as a means of ending a feud between the two kingdoms (due to the murder of Froda by the Danes). It was an unsuccessful attempt to end the feud. An old warrior urged the Heaðobards to revenge, and Beowulf predicts to Hygelac that Ingeld will turn against his father-in-law Hroðgar. In a version given in the Danish chronicle Gesta Danorum (see below), the old warrior appears as Starkad, and he succeeded in making Ingeld divorce his bride and in turning him against her family.

=Marcus Antonius III Marriage: BET 50 BC AND 47 BC
- Father: Marcus Antonius Praetor of ROME
- Occupation: Governor of Macedonia of the Roman Republic, BET 63 BC AND 60 BC
- Title Of Nobility: Consul of the Roman Republic alongside Marcus Tullius Cicero.
- He was the second son of Marcus Antonius and brother of Marcus Antonius Creticus;: his mother is unknown. He was also the uncle of the famed triumvir Mark Antony.
- National Identification: Roman Republic
- LifeSketch: Gaius Antonius Hybrida (flourished 1st century BC) was a politician of the Roman Republic. He was the second son of Marcus Antonius and brother of Marcus Antonius Creticus; his mother is unknown. He was also the uncle of the famed triumvir Mark Antony. He had two children, Antonia Hybrida Major and Antonia Hybrida Minor. Hybrida's career began under Lucius Cornelius Sulla, whom he accompanied into Greece as either a military tribune or a legatus. Later, in 63 BC, he was elected to serve as consul[a] of the Roman Republic alongside Marcus Tullius Cicero. During his consulship, Hybrida struck a deal with Cicero which effectively allowed Cicero to rule as sole consul in exchange for Hybrida receiving the governorship of Macedonia at the end of his term. The same year, Hybrida was involved in the Catilinarian Conspiracy, a plot against the Roman Senate led by Lucius Sergius Catilina, or "Catiline", and which culminated in a battle at Pistoria and the death of Catiline. Having served his term as consul, Hybrida was granted Macedonia as had been promised. Here, Hybrida abused his rule to rob the provincials and led invasions of the neighbouring barbaric lands of Moesia. His incursions brought two separate attacks from the natives who successfully forced Hybrida out of their lands without any loot. In 60 BC, Hybrida was quietly removed from the position of governor of Macedonia and replaced by Gaius Octavius. The next year, he was prosecuted by Julius Caesar and Marcus Licinius Crassus. The outcome of this was that Hybrida was forced to pay a fine and banished to the Island of Cephallania. Sometime in 47, Hybrida was recalled from his banishment by Caesar. In 45, he made himself a candidate for the position of censor[b] which ultimately failed. The final mention of Hybrida comes from Cicero in 44 when Mark Antony divorced himself from Hybrida's daughter Antonia Hybrida Major. During his exile at Cephellenia, Hybrida pretended to act as governor of the island which the people secretly allowed.[3] In 49 BC, his nephew, Mark Antony, was elected to the role of tribune of the people and a legate of Caesar's in Italy. Despite this, Hybrida remained in exile until 47 when he returned to Rome at the request of Caesar himself. One possible explanation for this is that Mark Antony was indebted to Hybrida; as Hybrida was in exile and had no civil rights, he could not enforce a payment and this suited Mark Antony. Hybrida was a candidate for censorship around 45; his character and support from Mark Antony, however, doomed his candidacy. The final mention of Hybrida during his life comes from Cicero who commented upon Mark Antony's divorce from Antonia Hybrida Major and the insult this conferred upon Hybrida himself. -- Wikiwand: Gaius Antonius Hybrida

- LifeSketch: The first Sextus Julius Caesar was praetor in 208 BC, and assigned the province of Sicily. He commanded the legiones Cannenses, the legions formed from the survivors of Cannae. After the consuls were ambushed by Hannibal, leaving Marcus Claudius Marcellus dead, and Titus Quinctius Crispinus mortally wounded, Sextus was dispatched by the Roman Senate to ask Quinctius to nominate a dictator. ___________________________________________________ Sextus Julius Caesar was a Roman praetor in 208 BC, during the Second Punic War. He is thought to be the ancestor of all of the later Julii Caesares who appear in history. Sextus is the earliest member of the Julii Caesares whose name is found in historical sources. From the filiation of his son, Sextus, we know that his father's name was Lucius, but it is not known whether his father bore the surname of Caesar. At least some scholars have proposed that this Lucius was the son of Lucius Julius Libo, consul in 267 BC. Sextus appears to have had at least two children: Lucius, who was praetor in 183 BC, and Sextus, who served as military tribune in 181, and attained the consulship in BC 157. In his reconstruction of the Julii Caesares, classical scholar Wilhelm Drumann assumed that the consul was the son of the military tribune, rather than the same man, and therefore inserted an otherwise unknown Lucius between Sextus the praetor and his two sons; but since the tribune and the consul are identical, the consul's grandfather Lucius must have been the father of Sextus, praetor in BC 208. It is likely that the praetor had a third son, Gaius, who was a senator, and is said to have written a Roman history in Greek about 143 BC. This Gaius was probably the great-grandfather of Gaius Julius Caesar, the dictator, whose father and grandfather were also named Gaius. Elected praetor in 208 BC, Sextus was assigned the province of Sicily, and given the command of the legiones Cannenses, legions formed from the survivors of Battle of Cannae.[ A great calamity befell the Roman forces when the consuls Marcus Claudius Marcellus and Titus Quinctius Crispinus, who were scouting Hannibal's position, fell into a trap, and Marcellus was slain. Gravely wounded, Crispinus was unable to return to Rome in order to hold the elections for the following year, and accordingly the senate dispatched Sextus Julius Caesar and two other envoys to meet with him, and urge the consul to appoint a dictator for the purpose of holding the elections. Crispinus nominated Titus Manlius Torquatus, who oversaw the election of new magistrates, but Crispinus himself died from his wounds before the end of the year.

- Title Of Nobility: 143rd High King of Ireland
- LifeSketch: Áed 'Uaridnach', High King of Ireland was the son of Domnall 'Ilchegach', High King of Ireland.1 He died in 612.1 Áed 'Uaridnach', High King of Ireland also went by the nick-name of Áed 'Uaridnach' (?) (or in English, of the Ague.)2 He defeated the Leinstermen and exacted cattle tribute.2 He was a member of the House of Cenél nEógain.1 He succeeded as the High King of Ireland in 604.1 Child of Áed 'Uaridnach', High King of Ireland Máel Fithrich, King of Ailech+1 d. 630 ______________________________________________ Áed Uaridnach (or Áed mac Domnaill) (died 612) was an Irish king who was High King of Ireland. He is sometimes also known as Áed Allán, a name most commonly used for the 8th-century king of the same name, this Áed's great-great-grandson. Áed was the son of Domnall Ilchelgach (died 566) and brother of Eochaid mac Domnaill (died 572), considered to have been High Kings by some sources.. He belonged to the northern Cenél nEógain kindred of the Uí Néill. He was King of Ailech from 604 to 612 Áed, it was said, was preceded as High King by the joint rule of Áed Sláine and Colmán Rímid and ruled from 604 to 612. Áed is mentioned in the earliest Irish King list contained in the Baile Chuind (The Ecstasy of Conn), a late 7th-century Irish poem. In 605 Áed won a victory over the King of Leinster, Brandub mac Echach (died 605) at the Battle of Slabra. Leinster was often a target of the Ui Neill for inaugural raids and the levy of a cattle-tribute. The Annals of Tigernach place the beginning of his reign after this event. The cause of Áed's death is unknown, but his obituary presents it as a non-violent death. The Cenél Feradach, led by the descendants of Suibne Menn, overshadowed Áed's branch of the Cenél nEógain—the Cenél maic Ercae—and it was not until the time of his great-grandson Fergal mac Máele Dúin that the Cenél maic Ercae again provided a High King of Ireland. Áed's son Máel Fithrich mac Áedo (died 630) was a king of Ailech.

- Birth: 867, of Leinster, Ireland
- Also known as: Ragnall ua Ímair
- Occupation: Kingof Waterford & York
- Title Of Nobility: King of Mann
- Clan Name: Dynasty of Uí Ímair
- LifeSketch: Ragnall ua Ímair (Old Norse: Rögnvaldr, died 921) or Rægnald was a Viking[nb 1] leader who ruled Northumbria and the Isle of Man in the early 10th century. He was a grandson of Ímar and a member of the Uí Ímair. Ragnall was most probably among those Vikings expelled from Dublin in 902, whereafter he may have ruled territory in southern Scotland or the Isle of Man. In 917, he and his kinsman Sitric Cáech sailed separate fleets to Ireland where they won several battles against local kings. Sitric successfully recaptured Dublin and established himself as king, while Ragnall returned to England. He fought against Constantín mac Áeda, King of Scotland, in the Battle of Corbridge in 918, and although the battle was not decisive it did allow Ragnall to establish himself as king at York. CP, in a very indirect fashion, may "according to legend" support this in naming the Mormaers of Fife and Angus as two of the seven brothers of the Pictish Kingdom of Alban. "Dufugan, Comes", who appears among the seven Earls in the charter of 1114 or 1115 in all probability was Mormaer of Angus, though in this charter (possibly for the first time) styled "Comes" ie. Earl of Angus. He was probably a descendant of Dubucan, Mormaer of Angus in the 10th century. [Complete Peerage I:145] Note: The following article, of which I include only the first paragraph, precedes the Complete Peerage account of the Earldom of Angus: This was was one of the seven original Earldoms (Mormaerships) of Scotland, which, more or less, represented the seven provinces (each province consisting of two districts) of the Pictish Kingdom, afterwards called Alban, into which, prior to the 9th century, "transmarine Scotland" (ie. the country north of the Firth of Forth and the Firth of Clyde) was by seven brothers divided. These divisions were: (1) Angus (being the name of the eldest brother), now co. Forfar, with Mearns, now co. Kincardine; (2) Athole with Gowry, now the north and east part of co. Perth; (3) Stratherne with Menteith, now the southern part of co. Perth; (4) Fife with Fothreve, now together forming co. Fife; (5) Mar with Buchan, now together forming cos. Aberdeen and Banff; (6) Moray (Muref or Moreb) with Ross, now cos. Inverness and Ross; and (7) Caithness with Sutherland. The district on the west being the Kingdom of Dalriada (now part of Argyl) is here omitted; but in the 10th century the province of Arregaithel (Argyl) was added, which included not only Dalriada, but the entire western seaboard of Scotland as far north as the old province of Caithness, which latter province was then omitted, having previously passed into the hands of the Norwegians. The ruler of each of these districts originally bore the title of "Rt" (ie. King), being inferior only to the "Ardi" (ie. Supreme King); but in the 10th century (with the exception of Argyll, and occasionally of Moray) each such ruler was styled "Mormaer" (ie. Great Maer or Steward). [Complete Peerage I:141-2] http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/SCOTTISH%20NOBILITY.htm#_Toc359671967 1st Earl of Angus Dufugan of Angus was probably a descendant of Dubucan, Mormaer of Angus in the 10th century. - Father: Cairbre Lithfeachair MACCORMAC
- Mother: Aine of IRELAND
- Birth: 250, Dalriada, Ireland
- LifeSketch: Cath Gabhra (English: The Battle of Gabhair or Gowra) is a narrative of the Fenian Cycle of Irish mythology. It tells of the destruction of the fianna and the deaths of most of its warriors in a battle against the forces of High King Cairbre Lifechair. It is notable for depicting the fianna, the heroes of the cycle, in a negative light. Cath Gabhra exists in many versions including poems about Cairbre Lifechair in the Book of Leinster and in the long narrative Acallam na Senórach. Cairbre's daughter Sgiam Sholais is betrothed to Maolsheachlainn, prince of the Déisi, whose father Oengus has been killed by Cairbre's sons Fíacha Sroiptine and Eochaid Doimlen. However, the fianna and Fionn mac Cumhaill demand a large tribute for the marriage, and Cairbre decides their power has corrupted them. He raises a vast army from Ulster, Leinster, and Connacht, which is joined by the faction of the fianna loyal to Fionn's enemy Goll mac Morna. Fionn and the fianna are aided by the men of Munster and the Déisi. Cairbre starts the final battle by killing Fionn's servant Ferdia, and the armies meet at Gabhair for the final confrontation. The fianna's greatest warrior, Fionn's grandson Oscar (the son of Oisín), slays Cairbre, but dies of his wounds, thereby sealing the fianna's fate. In some versions, Fionn himself is slain by Aichlech while he weeps over the death of his grandson. Cairbre's forces ultimately triumph, and the only survivors of the fianna are Oisín and Caílte mac Rónáin, who live long enough to recount their tale to Saint Patrick two centuries later, according to Acallam na Senórach. Gabhra is generally considered identical to the modern Garristown, County Dublin, but other texts place it in Glenn Gabhra, situated between the hills of Tara and Skryne, County Meath. Some chronicles give the date of battle as 284.
