- Father: Childerich I. Fränkischer König
- Mother: Basena von Thüringen
- Birth: 467, Kingdom of the Salian Franks, Gaul, Roman Empire
- Also known as: Andelfieda
- Also known as: Audeflede
- Also known as: Audofleda of the Salian Franks Merovigian, Queen of the Ostrogoths
- Title Of Nobility: Queen of the Ostrogoths, BET 493 AND 526, Ravenna, Emilia Romagno, Italy, Roman Empire
- Clan Name: House of Merovingians
- LifeSketch: Audofleda became a queen through her marriage to Theodoric the Great. She was the sister of Clovis I, King of the Franks. She married Theoderic the Great, King of the Ostrogoths (471–526), around 493 AD (exact date unknown). Theoderic sent an embassy to Clovis to request the marriage. This political move allied Theoderic with the Franks, and by marrying his daughters off to the kings of the Burgundians, the Vandals, and the Visigoths, he allied himself with every major 'Barbarian' kingdom in the West. Audofleda was a pagan prior to her marriage, and was baptised at the time of her wedding by an Arian bishop. Theoderic and Audofleda had one daughter, Amalasuntha, who ruled the Ostrogoths from 526 until 534. Foundation for Medieval Genealogy- Childerich & his wife had four children: a) CHLODOVECH [Clovis] ([464/67]-Paris [27 Nov] 511, bur Paris, basilique des Saints-Apôtres [later église de Sainte-Geneviève]). Gregory of Tours names Clovis as son of Childerich & Basina. He succeeded his father in [481/82] as CLOVIS I King of the Franks. - see below. b) LANDECHILDIS [Lantilde]. Gregory of Tours names Lanthechild as sister of King Clovis, specifying that she was baptised with him after having followed the Arian faith. She converted to Arianism, according to the title of one of the sermons of Avitus Bishop of Vienne. c) AUDOFLEDIS . Gregory of Tours names Audofleda as sister of King Clovis, recording that she married Theodoric King of Italy. Iordanes records the marriage of Theodoric and "Lodoin Francorum regem filiam eius Audefledam" and names her brothers "Celdebertum et Heldebertum et Thiudebertum"[30], although this is presumably an incorrect reference to her nephews and great-nephew with similar names. m ([492]) THEODORIC King of the Ostrogoths in Italy, illegitimate son of THEODEMIR King of the Ostrogoths in Pannonia & his concubine Ereleuva --- ([454]-30 Aug 526). d) ALBOFLEDIS (-after 496). Gregory of Tours names Albofled as sister of King Clovis, specifying that she was baptised but died soon after, St Rémy sending a letter of condolence to her brother[31]. From the context, it would appear that her baptism took place around the same time as her brother was baptised. “Remigius Episcopus” wrote to “Chlodoveo Regi” consoling him on the death of “germana vestra…Albochledis”[32].

- Birth: 70 BC, Tralles, Anatolia
- LifeSketch: Wikipedia Pythodoros of Tralles, also known as Pythodorus (Greek: Πυθόδωρος; c. 70 – after 28 BC), was an exceedingly wealthy Greek living in the 1st century BC. Pythodoros originally came from Tralles (modern Aydın, Turkey). Not much is known about his family. He was a friend to the Roman triumvir Pompey. Pythodoros became the first son-in-law of the Roman triumvir Mark Antony. In 36 BC, Pythodoros had married to one of Antony’s eldest children, his daughter Antonia.[1] Antonia was the daughter and only child from the triumvir’s second marriage to his paternal cousin Antonia Hybrida Minor. His wife was about 20 years younger than he was. The reason that Antony arranged for Pythodoros to marry his daughter was to hopefully gain some of Pythodoros’ wealth for his war chest in his campaign to invade Parthia. However, it is uncertain if Antony ever managed to do this. Pythodoros and his wife settled in Smyrna (modern İzmir, Turkey). Either in 30 BC or 29 BC, Antonia bore Pythodoros a daughter and only child Pythodorida, who through her marriages became Queen of Pontus and Cappadocia. Pythodorida was born and raised in Smyrna.

- Father: Edward the ELDER
- Mother: Ælfflæd OF WILTSHIRE
- Birth: ABT 912, Wessex
- Also known as: Aelfgifu
- Also known as: Elgiva (Elfgifu or Adela) Princess Of ENGLAND
- Also known as: Ælfgifu
- LifeSketch: Ælfgifu, also known as Elgiva was the 6th daughter of English King Edward the Elder and his second wife Ælfflæd. Their marriage ended in 919, and their youngest child Ælfgifu was probably born around 910, but certainly before 919. She is believed to have married "a prince near the Alps". The identity of her husband is a matter of much speculation but no certainty. Some believe it could be perhaps Louis, brother of King Rudolph II of Burgund. -------------------------------------------- Foundation for Medieval Genealogy ÆLFGIFU. The Book of Hyde names "Edgitham et Elgimam" as fifth and sixth of the six daughters of King Eadweard by his first wife "Elfelmi comitis filia Elfleda", specifying that they were both sent to "Henrico Alemanorum imperatori" and that the latter married "cuidam duci iuxta Alpes"[1689], who has not been identified. Hroswitha of Gandersheim describes her as "Adiva … younger in years and likewise inferior in merit" to her older sister Eadgyth, confirming that she accompanied to Germany to provide an alternative choice of bride for Otto of Germany[1690]. According to William of Malmesbury, she married "a certain Duke near the Alps"[1691]. Some possibilities have been suggested concerning the identity of the husband of Ælfgifu. A marriage with Boleslaw II "der Fromme" Duke of the Bohemians seems improbable chronologically. Although Duke Boleslaw's birth date is not known, the birth of his younger brother Strakhvas is recorded on 28 Sep 929[1692]. If this is correct, it seems unlikely that Boleslaw could have been born much earlier than 925 at the earliest, whereas Ælfgifu was probably born in the range [910/15] assuming that she was of marriageable age when she went to Germany with her sister. Another possibility is Ludwig Graf im Thurgau, son of Rudolf I King of Upper Burgundy, who, according to Europäische Stammtafeln[1693], married "Edgifa, daughter of Edward I King of England". The latter suggestion is chronologically implausible, assuming that it refers to Ælfgifu's younger half-sister Eadgifu who was married according to William of Malmesbury to "Louis Prince of Aquitaine" (see below), as King Rudolf's children were probably born between 880 and 900. A third possibility is that “iuxta Alpes” should be interpreted as meaning the area south of the Alps, indicating south-eastern France or northern Italy, although it would be fruitless to speculate on the identity of Ælfgifu’s husband if this is correct given the number of possibilities, especially if the title “duci” should be interpreted broadly. m ---. https://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/ENGLAND,%20AngloSaxon%20&%20Danish%20Kings.htm#Eadhilddied937

- Father: Æthelwulf of WESSEX
- Mother: Osburhga of Wessex
- Birth: ABT 836, Wantage, Wessex
- Also known as: Ethelbert
- Also known as: Æthelberht, King of Wessex
- Also known as: Aethelberht , King of Essex & Kent
- KING OF KENT: When Æthelwulf went on pilgrimage to Rome in 855 he appointed his oldest surviving son, Æthelbald, as king of Wessex while Æthelberht became king of the recently conquered territory of Kent., 855, Kent, England
- KING OF WESSSEX: When Æthelbald died in 860, Æthelberht united his own territory of Kent and that of his brother Wessex under his rule. He did not appoint a sub-king and Wessex and Kent were fully united for the first time.
- LifeSketch: Æthelberht (or Ethelbert, Aethelberht) was the third son of King Aethelwulf of Wessex by his first wife Osburh. We know very little about his early life, but we do know that when his father went on a pilgrimage to Rome in AD 855 Aethelberht was appointed subking of Kent, while his elder brother Aethelbald reigned in Wessex. He briefly handed Kent back to his father when his brother Aethelbald usurped the Wessex throne. When Aethelbald died childless in 860 the throne of Wessex passed to Aethelberht, and the two halves of the kingdom were united. Aethelberht was crowned at Kingston-upon-Thames, as were his brother and father before him. The place name comes from the Old English Cyning and tun, meaning 'the king's manor', and was the earliest known royal borough. Few of Aethelbert's deeds are recorded, but we know his reign was plagued by raiding Vikings. Forces under the influence of Ragnar Lodbrok and his son Ivar 'The Boneless' Ragnarsson were particularly troublesome to the southern kingdoms. In 864, Ragnar Lodbrok's forces settled themselves on the Isle of Thanet and wintered there, with the reluctant acceptance of the Wessex authorities. In 865 Ivar invaded, reaching Winchester and burning the city. Aethelberht rallied his forces and drove the Vikings back. Curiously, despite all these troubles with the Vikings, the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle describes Aethelberht's reign as a time of peace and harmony. During Aethelberht's reign, all Saxon territory, including Sussex, Essex, and Kent, was merged into the kingdom of Wessex, placing the South under one rule. Unlike his predecessors Aethelberht did not put a family member on the throne of Kent as a subking, but rather ruled the entire territory of Wessex himself. This meant that virtually all of southern England was one unified kingdom. Aethelberht seems to have gathered together an assembly of both West Saxon and Kentish representatives to witness his charters, another sign of how he pulled together the disparate parts of southern England into one body. Aethelbert died in 865 and was buried beside his brother Aethelbald at Sherborne Abbey in Dorset. The throne passed to his younger brother Aethelred, rather than to Aethelberht's children. It was in this year that York was conquered and settled by the Vikings, creating the germ of the Danelaw, the Danish sphere of influence which eventually covered most of modern England and rivalled Wessex. -"Athelbehrht (Ethelbert) of Wessex c. 836-865" by David Ross https://www.britainexpress.com/History/Aethelberht-of-Wessex.htm

- Mother: Ealhswith of Mercia
- Birth: ABT 879, Wessex, England
- Also known as: Æthelweard of Wessex
- Also known as: Prince Ethelweard of Wessex
- LifeSketch: Æthelweard was the younger son of King Alfred the Great and Ealhswith. He was born about 880 and died in 920 or 922. That he was Alfred's younger son by Ealhswith is stated by Asser in his biography of the king (c. 893). Asser also provides valuable detail on the boy's upbringing. Whereas his brother Edward and sister Ælfthryth were raised and educated at court, Æthelweard was sent to a type of school, where he learned to read and write both Latin and Old English and was instructed in the liberal arts "under the attentive care of teachers, in company with all the nobly born children of virtually the entire area, and a good many of lesser birth as well." Such education would have started at an early age, before the onset of adolescence Through Alfred's patronage, Æthelweard became a wealthy landowner. In his father's will (AD 873 x 888), in which he is unnamed but called Alfred's "younger son" (þam gingran minan suna ), he is the beneficiary of a vast number of estates across the south of Britain: Arreton (Isle of Wight), Dean (i.e. East Dean or West Dean, West Sussex), Meon (i.e. East Meon or West Meon, Hampshire), Amesbury (Wiltshire), Dean (probably West Dean, Wiltshire), Sturminster Marshall (Dorset), Yeovil (Somerset), Crewkerne (Somerset), Whitchurch Canonicorum (Dorset), Axmouth (Devon), Branscombe (Devon), Cullompton (Devon), Tiverton (Devon), Mylenburnan (probably Burn in Silverton, Devon), Exminster (Devon), Suðeswyrðe (possibly Lustleigh, Devon), Lifton (Devon) and appurtenant lands, i.e. all his father's property in Cornwall, except Triggshire.[5] Since the (late) 890s, Æthelweard attested several of his brother's charters.[6] According to John of Worcester, he died on 16 October 922 and his body received burial at Winchester,[7] where he was soon joined by his brother Edward (d. 924). William of Malmesbury confirms the place of burial, but places his death four years before Edward's.[8] It may have been Æthelweard whose name was entered into the New Minster Liber Vitae, fol. 9v., with the designation clito "ætheling", but if so, he seems to be mistaken for a son of Edward. William tells that Æthelweard had two sons, Æthelwine and Ælfwine, who died fighting in the Battle of Brunanburh and who were buried at Malmesbury, at the behest of their cousin King Athelstan, who was buried there himself only two years later.[9] The connection with this house is prominent in a series of three spurious charters from the Malmesbury archive, in which Athelstan is made to endow the abbey in memory of his "cousins" (patruelia) Æthelweard, Ælfwine and Æthelwine.[10] If Ælfwine and Æthelwine died childless, their deaths would have brought an end to Æthelweard's direct descent.

- LifeSketch: Ælfred, son of Edward the Elder and his 1st wife Ecqwynn, named presumably after his grandfather Alfred the Great. Subscribed a charter in 901 and is believed to have died soon after that. ---------------------------------------- The Foundation for Medieval Genealogy https://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/ENGLAND,%20AngloSaxon%20&%20Danish%20Kings.htm#Edwarddied924B King Edward "the Elder" & his first wife had three children: 1. ÆLFRED ([893/94]-[901]). "Elfredus filius regis" subscribed a charter of King Edward dated 901, named first in order of the subscribers before that of "Ethelwardus filius regis" (assumed to be King Edward's younger brother) and "Æthelstan filius regis" (assumed to be King Edward's son). Assuming this entry is not a mistake, Ælfred must have been either the brother or the son of King Edward. If the brother, it is likely that he was older than Æthelweard whom he precedes in the list. If the son, it is likely that he was older than Æthelstan. Looking at naming patterns, it is more likely that he was King Edward's son as there appears to be no case in the Wessex royal family before [1016/17][1645] of a son being named after his father. In addition, there is no reason to doubt that Asser's list of the children of King Alfred is not exhaustive, as he even names his son Edmund who died in infancy. This speculation is corroborated by the Book of Hyde which names "Athelstanum…et Elfredum et Edgytham" as the children of King Eadweard "ex concubina Egwynna"[1646], although this suggests that Ælfred was younger than Æthelstan. It is assumed that Ælfred died soon after the date of this charter as no other references to him have been found. ---------------------------------------------- "Liber monasterii de Hyda: comprising a chronicle of the affairs of England" page 111 says: Iste gloriosus Edwardus duas habuit uxores, et unaum concubinam. - LifeSketch: Edgitha of England, also spelled Edith, Eadgyth or Ædgyth; (910 – 26 January 946), a member of the House of Wessex, was German queen from 936, by her marriage with King Otto I. Edgitha was born to the reigning English king Edward the Elder by his second wife, Ælfflæd, and hence was a granddaughter of King Alfred the Great. At the request of the East Frankish king Henry the Fowler, who wished to stake a claim to equality and to seal the alliance between the two Saxon kingdoms, her half-brother King Æthelstan sent his sisters Edgitha and Edgiva to Germany. Henry's eldest son and heir to the throne Otto was instructed to choose whichever one pleased him best. Otto chose Edgitha, according to Hrotsvitha a woman "of pure noble countenance, graceful character and truly royal appearance", and married her in 930. In 936 Henry the Fowler died and his eldest son Otto, Edgitha's husband, was crowned king at Aachen Cathedral. A surviving report of the ceremony by the medieval chronicler Widukind of Corvey makes no mention of his wife having been crowned at this point, but according to Bishop Thietmar of Merseburg's chronicle, Edgitha was nevertheless anointed as queen, albeit in a separate ceremony. As queen consort, Edgitha undertook the usual state duties of a "First Lady": when she turns up in the records it is generally in connection with gifts to the state's favoured monasteries or memorials to holy women and saints. In this respect she seems to have been more diligent than her now widowed and subsequently sainted mother-in-law, Queen Matilda, whose own charitable activities only achieve a single recorded mention from the period of Edgitha's time as queen. There was probably rivalry between the Benedictine Monastery of St Maurice founded at Magdeburg by Otto and Eadgyth in 937, a year after coming to the throne, and Matilda's foundation Quedlinburg Abbey, intended by her as a memorial to her husband, the late King Henry. Edgitha accompanied her husband on his travels, though not during battles. While Otto fought against the rebellious dukes Eberhard of Franconia and Gilbert of Lorraine in 939, she spent the hostilities at Lorsch Abbey. Like her brother, Æthelstan, Edgitha was devoted to the cult of their ancestor Saint Oswald of Northumbria and was instrumental in introducing this cult into Germany after her marriage to the emperor. Her lasting influence may have caused certain monasteries and churches in the Duchy of Saxony to be dedicated to this saint. Edgitha's death in 946 at a relatively young age, in her thirties, was unexpected. Otto apparently mourned the loss of a beloved spouse. He married Adelaide of Italy in 951. Edgitha and Otto's children were: Liudolf, Duke of Swabia (930 – 6 September 957) Liutgarde (931 – 18 November 953), married the Lotharingian duke Conrad the Red in 947 both buried in St. Alban's Abbey, Mainz. Initially buried in the St Maurice monastery, Edith's tomb since the 16th century has been located in Magdeburg Cathedral. Long regarded as a cenotaph, a lead coffin inside a stone sarcophagus with her name on it was found and opened in 2008 by archaeologists during work on the building. An inscription recorded that it was the body of 'Eadgyth', reburied in 1510. The fragmented and incomplete bones were examined in 2009, then brought to Bristol, England, for tests in 2010. The investigations at Bristol, applying isotope tests on tooth enamel, checked whether she was born and brought up in Wessex and Mercia, as written history indicated. Testing on the bones revealed that they are the remains of Edgitha, from study made of the enamel of the teeth in her upper jaw. Testing of the enamel revealed that the individual entombed at Magdeburg had spent time as a youth in the chalky uplands of Wessex. The bones are the oldest found of a member of English royalty. Following the tests the bones were re-interred in a new titanium coffin in her tomb at Magdeburg Cathedral on 22 October 2010.

- LifeSketch: Ingild of Wessex was a member of the House of Wessex who lived in the late 7th century- early 8th century, in Anglo-Saxon England. Ingild was the son of son of Cenred (Coenred), who was the son of Ceolwald; He was the sibling of Ine, King of Wessex, and sisters Cwenburg and Cuthburh. Cuthburh married King Aldfrith of Northumbria. Ingild's brother, Ine, was King of Wessex, his brother-in-law, Aldfrith, was King of Northumbria ad his father Cenred was possibly an Under-King. Ingild himself was never a king. He was, however, a member of the House of Cerdic, and of royal descent, which would greatly influence his own descendants. The name of Ingild's wife is not known, it is known that he had a son named Eoppa born about 706. It is possible that he also had a son named Ealdberht who was exiled and killed by Ine in 725. "It has been suggested that Ealdberht was a son of Ine, or a son of Ine's brother Ingild." - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ine_of_Wessex#Kent,_Essex,_Sussex,_and_Surrey Most records place Ingild's date of birth at about 672 and his death in 718. The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, p. 42: '718. Here Ingeld, Ine's brother, passed away; and their sisters were Cwenburh and Cuthburh; and that Cuthburh founded 'the life'* atWimborne; and she had been given to Aldfrith, King of Northumbria, and they separated during their lifetime.' The royal line of Cerdic (of Wessex) was continued in Ingild's son Eoppa, and through him Ingild was a noteworthy ancestor of generations of kings including Alfred the Great. - Occupation: Abbess of Wilton
- On her husband's death, she turned the college of secular priests that he had established in an old church in Wilton, Wiltshire, into a Benedictine convent with 12 nuns.: 802
- Feast Day: 25 December 810
- LifeSketch: Æthelburh or Alburga of Wilton (died c.810) was abbess of Wilton and an Anglo-Saxon saint. Alburga was the daughter of Ealhmund, who was King of Kent briefly in 784. Also the half-sister of Egbert, King of Wessex. The name of her mother is not known, it is possible she was a princess of Kent. Alburga married Wulfstan, ealdorman of Wiltshire (also known as Weohstan). Alburga's brother Egbert became king of Wessex in 802. Upon the day of his succession Wessex was attacked by the Hwicce, lead by an ealdorman named Æthelmund. Alburga's husband Wulfstan, rode out to oppose them with an army of Wiltshiremen. The Hwicce were defeated and Æthelmund was killed, unfortunately Wulfstan was killed as well. Now widowed, Alburga turned the college of canons, Wilton Abbey, that her husband had established in 773 at Wilton, Wiltshire, into a nunnery, a convent for herself and about a dozen fellow Benedictine nuns. She is considered the founder of the house. She died there of natural causes in 810. Her feast is celebrated on 25 December.

- LifeSketch: Saint Edith of Wilton (c. 963[1] - c.986) (also known as Eadgyth, her name in Old English, or as Editha or Ediva, the Latinised forms of her name) was an English nun, a daughter of Edgar the Peaceful, king of England (r. 959–975). She was born between 961 and 964 and died on 16 September in a year between 984 and 987. Following her death in 984, she became the patron saint of her community at Wilton Abbey in Wiltshire and churches were dedicated to her in Wiltshire and in other parts of Anglo-Saxon England. Life (excerpt) Edith was the daughter of Edgar, by Wilfrida (or Wulfthryth), a woman of noble birth whom Edgar carried off from the nunnery at Wilton Abbey. He took her to his residence at Kemsing, near Sevenoaks, where Edith was born. Under Dunstan's direction, Edgar did penance for this crime by not wearing his crown for seven years. Although forms of bride-abduction were a traditional part of Anglo-Saxon society, whether Edgar took Wulfryth forcibly is unclear. What we do know is that she stayed with him for at least a year, and that for some time after her return to Wilton, they were on good terms. As soon as Wulfthryth could, she returned to Wilton, taking Edith with her. Edgar continued to support the abbey financially and also with land grants. Edith OF WILTON
\-Wulfthryth of Wilton
- Birth: ABT 880, Kingdom of Wessex
- Marriage annulment: Around 919-920, Edward set aside Aelflaed and she became a nun at Wilton where she was joined by two of her daughters. It was at this time Edward married Eadgifu, most likely to gain control of her landholdings since he already had plenty of heirs., ABT 919, Wilton Abbey, Wiltshire, England
- 2ND WIFE OF EDWARD THE ELDER: (Date and Place unknown)
- LifeSketch: Ælfflæd was the second wife of the English king Edward the Elder. Their children were: - Eadflæd, nun at Wilton - Eadgifu, wife of Charles the Simple, King of West Francia - Ælfweard (briefly king of Wessex in 924) - Edwin (d. 933) - Æthelhild, vowess at Wilton - Eadhild, wife of Hugh the Great, duke of the Franks - Eadgyth, wife of Emperor Otto I - Ælfgifu, wife of Louis, brother of Rudolf of Burgundy? Ælfflæd is sometimes referred to as Edward's 1st wife by ancient historians who did not recognize Edward's 1st marriage to Ecgwynn as legitimate and considered Ecgwynn a concubine. This often causes confusion in attaching their children. Regardless of the status of Edward's and Ecgwynn's marriage, Ælfflæd was Edward's 2nd recognized relationship to produce children. Ælfflæd was the daughter of ealdorman Æthelhelm of Wiltshire who died in 897. Genealogist David H. Kelley and historian Pauline Stafford have identified him as Æthelhelm, a son of Edward's uncle, King Æthelred of Wessex. Other historians have rejected the idea, arguing that it does not appear to have been the practice for Æthelings (princes of the royal dynasty who were eligible to be king) to become ealdormen, that in a grant from King Alfred to Ealdorman Æthelhelm there is no reference to kinship between them, and that the hostile reception to King Eadwig's marriage to Ælfgifu, his third cousin once removed, shows that a marriage between Edward and his first cousin once removed would have been forbidden as incestuous. Ælfflæd married King Edward around 899. She only attested one charter, dated 901, where she was described as conjux regis. She never attested as queen. and although she was previously thought to have been consecrated as queen when Edward was crowned in 900, this is now thought unlikely. In 1827 the tomb of St Cuthbert in Durham Cathedral was opened, and among the objects found were a stole and maniple which had inscriptions showing that they had been commissioned by Ælfflæd for bishop Frithestan of Winchester. However, they had been donated by her step-son king Æthelstan to Cuthbert's tomb, probably in 934. Ælfflæd had two sons, Ælfweard, who may have become king of Wessex on his father's death in 924 but died himself within a month, and Edwin, who was drowned in 933. She also had six daughters, including: Eadgifu, wife of Charles the Simple, king of West Francia; Eadhild, who married Hugh the Great, duke of the Franks; and Eadgyth, wife of Otto I, Holy Roman Emperor. In around 967 Hrotsvitha, a nun of Gandersheim, wrote a eulogy of the deeds of Otto I in which she contrasted the nobility of Eadgyth's mother with the inferior descent of Æthelstan's mother. Edmund I, the future king who was a son of Edward's third wife, Eadgifu, was born in 920 or 921, so Ælfflæd's marriage must have ended in the late 910s. According to William of Malmesbury, Edward put aside Ælfflæd in order to marry Eadgifu, a claim which Sean Miller viewed sceptically, but it is accepted by other historians. She is reported to have retired to Wilton Abbey, where she was joined by two of her daughters, Eadflæd and Æthelhild, and all three were buried there. --------------------- Foundation for Medieval Genealogy https://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/ENGLAND,%20AngloSaxon%20&%20Danish%20Kings.htm#Edwarddied924B EADWEARD, son of ALFRED King of Wessex & his wife Ealhswith ([872]-Farndon-on-Dee near Chester 17 Jul 924). "Ælfweard filius regis" subscribed two charters of King Edward dated 909, in both of which he was named third in the list of subscribers after "Æthelweard frater regis" and "Æthelstan filius regis". William of Malmesbury says that "King Edward therefore dying, was shortly followed by his legitimate son Ælfweard", which could be interpreted as indicating that Ælfweard briefly succeeded his father as king before his own early death, although the more likely interpretation of the text is simply that Ælfweard died soon after his father. She was the daughter of Swedish King Olof Skötkonung and Estrid of the Obotrites and the consort of Yaroslav I the Wise of Kiev." "Olof Skötkonung arranged for the marriage of Princess Ingegerd to the powerful Yaroslav the Wise of Novgorod with whom Sweden had a flourishing trade relationship. The marriage took place in 1019." "Once in Kiev, Ingegerd had her NAME CHANGED to the Greek Irene." "Together Ingegerd and Yaroslav had six (6) sons and four (4) daughters; three of the latter becoming Queens of France, Hungary, and Norway. The whole family is depicted in one of the frescoes of the Saint Sophia." "Ingegerd died on 10 February 1050. Upon her death, according to different sources, Ingegerd was buried in *EITHER* Saint Sophia's Cathedral in Kiev *OR* Cathedral of St. Sophia in Novgorod." --> https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ingegerd_Olofsdotter#Sista_%C3%A5r_och_d%C3%B6d --> https://translate.google.com/ (cut/paste text and read the English translation...) - LifeSketch: Halfdan Whiteshanks (Old Norse: Hálfdan hvítbeinn) was a semi-historical petty king in Norway, described in the Ynglinga saga. The following description is based on the account in Ynglinga saga, written in the 1220s by Snorri Sturluson. The historicity of the kings described in that saga is generally not accepted by modern historians. He was the son of Olof Trätälja of the House of Yngling. His father was sacrificed to Odin by the Swedish settlers in Värmland because of a famine. Some Swedes, however, realised that the famine was brought by overpopulation and not by the fact that the king had been neglecting his religious duties. Consequently, they resolved to cross the Ed Forest and settle in Norway and happened to end up in Soleyar, where they killed king Sölve and took Halfdan prisoner. The Swedish expatriates elected Halfdan king as he was the son of their old king, Olof. Halfdan subjugated all of Soleyar and took his army into Romerike and subjugated that province as well. Halfdan was to become a great king, who married Åsa, the daughter of king Eystein, the ruler of Oppland and Hedmark. They had two sons, Eystein Halfdansson and Gudröd. Halfdan conquered a large part of Hedemark, Toten, Hadeland and a part of Vestfold. When his brother Ingjald Olofsson died, he inherited Värmland. Halfdan died of old age in Toten and was transported to Vestfold, where he was buried under a mound in Skiringssal. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halfdan_Hvitbeinn
