- LifeSketch: The Gospel of Matthew and Gospel of Luke present an apparent problem by giving two genealogies for Jesus. (Matthew 1:7-16, Luke 3:23-31). Julius Africanus (about 160-about 240) attributed the difference to the custom of levirate marrige, under which a man was obliged to marry his brother's widow if the brother had died without children. According to Julius Africanius, the apparent problem can be explained in two stages. First, a woman named Estha married Matthan, a descendant of David through Solomon, and became the mother of Jacob. After Mathan's death she married Mathat, a descendant of David through Nathan, and became the mother of Heli. Jacob and Heli were, therefore, uterine brothers. Secondly, Heli married, but died without offspring. His widow, therefore, became the levirate wife of Jacob, and gave birth to Joseph, who was the carnal son of Jacob, but the legal son of Heli, thus combining in his person two lineages of David's descendants. This was the solution adopted by Saint Augustine. David Hughes in Davidic Dynasty gives the name Hazibah to the wife of Matthan, but she seems to be a modern invention. https://www.geni.com/people/Esthra-Estha/6000000004089124881?through=6000000007456718938 ________________________________________________ Heli (Miriam´s father) was the son of the future Maccabee Queen Alexandra II, who at this time was known by her Jewish name, Esther of Jerusalem. Heli, the shortened nickname for Helios (“The Sun”), was a descendant of both the Maccabee Kings of Judea and a prince of the House of David, for his father was Matthan ben Levi, a Davidian Prince who was first married in his youth to the vivacious royal princess, Elizabeth of Jerusalem.

He aided King David during the revolt of his son Absalom, was subsequently instrumental in bringing Solomon to the throne and officiated at Solomon's coronation. After Solomon's building of the First Temple in Jerusalem, Zadok was the first High Priest to serve there (1 Kings 2:35).

- Father: Fabus ben John Hyrcanus MACCABAEUS
- Also known as: Joshua or Jesus son of Phiabi or Phabet
- Title Of Nobility: High Priest of Israel
- LifeSketch: Jesus, son of Fabus, also known as Jesus, son of Phabet, Jesus son of Phiabi or Joshua ben Fabus (Hebrew: יהושע בר פיאבי), was a Jewish High priest (c. 30 – 23 BCE) in the 1st century BCE. He succeeded Ananelus and was removed by Herod when he appointed his father-in-law, Simon ben Boethus, to the high-priesthood. In 23 BCE, the current High Priest of Jerusalem is Yehoshua III. Yehoshua is the father of three daughters, the priestesses Jane/JoAnna, Elizabeth, and Hanna. Jane/JoAnna has married Joachim; Elizabeth has married Zechariah; and(H)anna has married Heli, Miriam's father and Joshua's half brother. In order to facilitate Simon’s ascension to the position of High Priest of Jerusalem, Herod accuses Yehoshua III of sedition and has him executed in 23 BCE. Also note that at the time, Cleopatra of Jerusalem is already married to Jacob ben Matthan, and they have three children: Joseph, father of Jesus in the bible, and twins Ptoles and Cleopas. In order to facilitate this marriage to Simon IV Boethus, Herod also accuses Jacob ben Matthan of sedition and has him executed in 23 BCE. Interestingly, in 23 BCE, after their father’s death, Jacob’s children by Cleopatra (Joseph of the bible, Cleopas and Ptoles), as well as Yehoshua III’s youngest daughter (H)anna and her daughter Miriam, are all whisked away into hiding to Jacob’s brother’s estate in Gamala, Galilee, where they are cared for by Jacob’s brother, Hezekiah. Jacob has two brothers: Prince Hezekiah/Ezekias the Zealot, and Prince Judas of Gamala/Galilee. Both are noted in the bible; Hezekiah is named after Ezekiah, the first martyr of the zealots. Judas the Galilean will be known as the zealot who led the uprising in 6 CE against Roman taxes. https://www.sabbathcovenant.com/newdoctrine/ArrangedmarriagesofYahshuaIIIdaughters.htm The future husbands of these 3 Zadokite heiresses (3 daughters of Yahusha III) were carefully chosen according to their bloodline. They were selected from among the lions of Judah (descendants of the Kingly line of David through Solomon) and men of noted priestly lineage of The House of Zadok: · Hanna (the mother of Miriam) was given in marriage to a Davidian and Maccabee prince, Alexander III Helios called Eli. · JoAnna was given in marriage to a Davidian Nasi and Prince of Israel, Joachim. · Elizebeth (the mother of John the Baptist) was given in marriage to a noted priest, Zacharias of the course of Abijah.

- Father: John Hyrcanus I BEN SIMON THASSI
- Mother: Unknown Spouse of Maccabaeus ben HASMONEAN
- Birth: 114 BC, Trachonitis, east of Galilee, Roman Empire
- Also known as: Hezekiah, the leader of the Zealots
- LifeSketch: Judas' father, Hezekiah, was named after one of the original zealot martyrs, killed in 47BCE whilst fighting Antipater, Herod’s father, for the rights of Jews to rule themselves. Hezekiah ben Matthan, like his namesake, Hezekiah ben Gurion, firmly believed it was not part of God’s covenant that Jews be destined to be slaves and pawns under the tyrannical rule of King Herod. They fought for the freedom of the Jews. Their ideology was not for political revolution, it was bound by the higher calling to preserve the integrity of Jewish life as taught by the Torah A martyr whom some scholars identify with Hezekiah ben Garon of the Talmud (Shab. 12a, 13b, 98b, 99a). He fought for Jewish freedom and the supremacy of the Jewish law at the time when Herod was governor of Galilee (47 B.C.). When King Aristobulus, taken prisoner by the Romans, had been poisoned by the followers of Pompey, Hezekiah ("Ezekias" in Josephus, "Ant." xiv. 9, §§ 2 et seq) gathered together the remnants of that king's army in the mountains of Galilee and carried on a successful guerrilla war against the Romans and Syrians, while awaiting the opportunity for a general uprising against Rome. The pious men of the country looked upon him as the avenger of their honor and liberty. Antipater, the governor of the country, and his sons, however, who were Rome's agents in Palestine, viewed this patriotic band differently. In order to curry favor with the Romans, Herod, unauthorized by the king Hyrcanus, advanced against Hezekiah, took him prisoner, and beheaded him, without the formality of a trial; and he also slew many of his followers. This deed excited the indignation of all the patriots. Hezekiah and his band were enrolled among the martyrs of the nation.

- LifeSketch: Joseph, son of Heli, was born before April 21BC, but not to much earlier, as he was age 20 or older at time Jesus was born 6 Apr 1BC because he paid "To be taxed..." his temple tax. https://www.gotquestions.org/temple-tax.html He was probably born in Nazareth, as Luke 2:41,44 shows a family tradition of going back and froth from Nazareth to Jerusalem for Passover. He was living in Nazareth when he espoused Mary, probably not any earlier then summer 2BC, as most espousal's last about a year. Due to the usual circumstance of Mary's conception of Jesus, the espousal period was extend until Mary gave birth to Jesus. This would have helped ensure he "...knew her not till....". He was in Nazareth when he was informed in a dream June 2BC to keep Mary. Joseph was also living in Nazareth when the 5 Feb 2BC decree was being conducted "in those days" (of John's birth) there in the Fall of 2BC where he was registered. Luke 2:3,39 Shortly (6 months) after this, Joseph ALSO (Luke 2:4) went to Bethlehem to attended Passover with the rest of the family (Luke 2:41,44) Passover attracts 2.7 million attendees. Crowding the Inns. It's also the lambing season with shepherds out all night watching their flocks. Joseph also paid/registered his temple tax. Jesus was born 6 April 1BC. Probably assisted by mid-wife(s) in their company. After Jesus's birth, circumcision, Mary's purification and Jesus's presentation to the Lord in the temple, they returned to their own city of Nazareth after 16 May 1BC Sometime after Jesus's birth, Joseph and Mary were finally married. Probably after their 40 day stay in Bethlehem, shortly after their return to Nazareth. About 25 Dec 1BC, wise men appear at Joseph's house in Nazareth and worshipped and gifted Jesus. That night, Joseph was warned by an angel in a dream to flee to Egypt. They depart that very night. King Herod https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/M4QK-LW1 Later in Egypt, Joseph received another visit in dream and was instructed to return home to Nazareth Galilee. Apparently he was aware of the atrocities taking place under the new King Archelaus (G747-9BC) re the 3,000 killed on temple grounds cancelling the 27 Mar 1AD Passover, so he avoided Judea on his way back to Nazareth. Joseph and Mary had 4 sons named in scripture, and possible 3 daughters. Joseph and extended family attended Passover every year, in 12 AD, Jesus stayed behind and after a days journey, Joseph and Mary leaving children behind with family company, rushed back to Jerusalem to locate their lost Jesus. After 3 days, they found him and returned to Nazareth. Joseph is believed to have died between 12AD and 29 AD, as he is never mentioned again in scripture. Many place his death about 18AD. That Mary was a widow with 8 children, is reason Jesus had so much to say about widows and fatherless. It appears as Joseph's eldest (step) son, that Jesus was the patriarch of the family. And that he turned the reins over to his brother James (GHSC-G8T) at the cross. According to the gospel of James, the brother of Jesus. Joseph as a widower when he married Mary, and that this James was the older brother of Jesus.

[Ptolas/Ptoles = short for Ptolemy, the family name of Cleopatra from Egypt. Clopas/Cleopas = short for Cleopatra.] Ptolas will eventually marry a woman named Escha, a daughter of Joachim. Cleopas will marry Escha’s sister, Mary, known in the Bible as ‘the Other Mary’.

- Half brother of Jesus: (Date and Place unknown)
- LifeSketch: Jude (alternatively Judas or Judah) is one of the brothers of Jesus (Greek: ἀδελφοί, romanized: adelphoi, lit. 'brethren') according to the New Testament. He is traditionally identified as the author of the Epistle of Jude, a short epistle which is reckoned among the seven general epistles of the New Testament—placed after Paul's epistles and before the Book of Revelation—and considered canonical by Christians. Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Christians believe this Jude is the same person as Jude the Apostle and that Jude was perhaps a cousin, but not literally a brother of Jesus, or perhaps St. Joseph’s son from a previous marriage. ___________________________________________________ A more compelling reason for believing that these are Mary’s children is that Joseph’s firstborn son from his first wife would have been the heir to the Davidic throne instead of Jesus. One of Jesus’ four half brothers (Matt 13:55; Mark 6:3). Evidently he was with his three brothers and his mother Mary early in Jesus’ ministry when, at Cana, Jesus performed a miracle, and he later traveled with Jesus and his disciples to Capernaum for a short stay (John 2:1-12). Well over a year later he apparently accompanied Mary and his brothers when they sought out Jesus (Matt 12:46). Nonetheless, in 32 CE Jesus’ brothers, including Judas, were “not exercising faith in him” (John 7:5). Shortly before dying, Jesus turned his believing mother over to the care of the apostle John, strongly suggesting that neither Judas nor his brothers had yet become disciples (John 19:26, 27). Perhaps it was the resurrection of Christ that helped convince Judas, though, because he was among the apostles and others who, between the time of Jesus’ ascension and the day of Pentecost 33 CE met together and persisted in prayer. (Acts 1:13-15) Logically, then, Judas would have been among the believers who first received holy spirit. Evidently Judas is the same as the Jude who, about 65 CE wrote the Bible book by that name. Hegesippus, a 2nd-century Christian writer, mentions descendants of Jude living in the reign of Domitian (81-96). Eusebius relates in his Historia Ecclesiae (Book III, ch. 19–20): "Of the family of the Lord there were still living the grandchildren of Jude, who is said to have been the Lord's brother according to the flesh. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domitian The bishop of Salamis, Epiphanius, wrote in his work The Panarion (AD 374-375) pg621,623 that Joseph became the father of James and his three brothers (Joses, Simeon, Judah) and two sisters Salome and a Mary https://gnosis.study/library/%D0%9A%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%82%D0%B8%D0%BA%D0%B0/ENG/ https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/nt/mark/6.3?lang=eng&clang=eng#p3 Mark 6:3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? - Half brother of Jeus: (Date and Place unknown)
- LifeSketch: Simon is described in the New Testament as one of the brothers of Jesus (Greek: ἀδελφοὶ, romanized: adelphoi, lit. 'brothers').[1] In Matthew 13:55, people ask concerning Jesus, "Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?" while in Mark 6:3 they ask, "Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us?" The Catholic Church defined that "brothers of Jesus" are not biological children of Mary, because of the dogma of the perpetual virginity of Mary, by virtue of which it rejects the idea that Simon and any other than Jesus Christ God could be a biological son of Mary, suggesting that the so-called Desposyni were either sons of Joseph from a previous marriage (in other words, step-brothers) or else were cousins of Jesus. The Catholic Encyclopedia suggests that Simon may be the same person as Simeon of Jerusalem or Simon the Zealot. Protestant interpreters who deny the perpetual virginity of Mary usually take Simon to have been a half-brother of Jesus. According to the surviving fragments of the work Exposition of the Sayings of the Lord of the Apostolic Father Papias of Hierapolis, who lived c. 70–163 AD, Mary the wife of Cleophas or Alphaeus would be the mother of Simon, the brother of Jesus: Mary the wife of Cleophas or Alphaeus, who was the mother of James the bishop and apostle, and of Simon and Thaddeus, and of one Joseph...(Fragment X) James Tabor, in his controversial book The Jesus Dynasty, suggests that Simon was the son of Mary and Clophas. While Robert Eisenman suggests he was Simon Cephas (Simon the Rock), known in Greek as Peter (from petros = rock), who led the Jewish Christian community after the death of James in 62 CE. ____________________________________________________ A more compelling reason for believing that these are Mary’s children is that Joseph’s firstborn son from his first wife would have been the heir to the Davidic throne instead of Jesus. A younger half brother of Jesus (Matt 13:55; Mark 6:3). Though he was still an unbeliever prior to the Festival of Tabernacles in 32 CE (John 7:2-8), he may have become a disciple later. Jesus’ fleshly brothers were among the crowd of about 120 disciples in Jerusalem during the season of Pentecost 33 CE, although Simon is not specifically named as being present (Acts 1:14, 15). https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/nt/mark/6.3?lang=eng&clang=eng#p3 Mark 6:3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? - LifeSketch: Eleazar Avaran, also known as Eleazar Maccabeus, Eleazar Hachorani/Chorani (Hebrew: אלעזר המכבי Eleazar HaMakabi, אלעזר החורני Eleazar HaChorani; died 162 BC) was the fourth son of Mattathias and the younger brother of Judas Maccabeus. He was killed at the Battle of Beth-zechariah (1 Maccabees 6:32–33) during the Maccabean revolt. Little is known about Eleazar, except his heroic death as was told. According to the scroll of Antiochus, his father saw in him a Zealot among zealots, like Pinhas. In 2 Maccabees 8:21–23 it is told that Eleazar read from the Tanakh in front of the people just before the last battle began in 3 Maccabees 6:16–19 According to 1 Maccabees 6:43–46, during the Battle of Beit Zechariah, Eleazar identified a war elephant that he believed to carry the Seleucid King Antiochus V, due to the special armor the elephant wore. He decided to endanger his life by attacking the elephant and thrusting a spear into its belly. The dead elephant then collapsed upon Eleazar, killing him as well. Despite this heroic effort, the smaller Jewish army was defeated in the battle. Josephus wrote that Eleazar, though killing many enemy soldiers, did not gain any real effect besides the name he made for himself. In another variation of this story which appears in the Megillat Antiochus, Eleazar's body is discovered after sinking in the excrement of an elephant. All of the members of the family of Mattathias were given nicknames in addition to their personal names as can be seen in 1 Maccabees 2:1–5 (For example, Judas was given the name 'ha'Makabi', meaning 'the Hammer'.) Eleazar was given the name 'Avaran', which has been taken to mean 'the Piercer' (in reference to his death) or 'to be white' (referring to his light complexion). Eleazar's death was a popular subject for art in the Middle Ages, where it was given a typological significance as prefiguring Christ's sacrifice of himself for mankind. The chance to portray an elephant was also welcomed by artists, although as most had never seen one, the results are often very strange. It is also portrayed in a painting of 19th century French artist Gustave Doré. The Israeli settlement, Elazar, in Gush Etzion, near the site of the battle of Beth-zechariah, is named after him. Also there are streets named after him in Jerusalem and in Tel Aviv.

- LifeSketch: Johanan (or John Gaddi/Caddis in the King James Version, Hebrew: יוחנן הגדי) was the oldest of the sons of Mattathias, and brother of Judas Maccabeus. He was one of the leaders of the revolt of the Maccabees in the 2nd century BC. First historical reference He was first mentioned along with his father and brothers, in this way: "In those days Mattathias the son of John, son of Simeon, a priest of the sons of Joarib, moved from Jerusalem and settled in Modein. He had five sons, John surnamed Gaddi, Simon called Thassi, Judas called Maccabeus, Eleazar called Avaran, and Jonathan called Apphus." (1 Maccabees 2:1-5 RSV-CE)[1] Possible reference in 2 Maccabees The next reference is in the Jewish historical work 2 Maccabees. It is as follows: "With these words he (Judas) filled them with good courage and made them ready to die for their laws and their country; then he divided his army into four parts. He appointed his brothers also, Simon and Joseph and Jonathan, each to command a division, putting fifteen hundred men under each. Besides, he appointed Eleazar to read from the holy book, and gave the watchword, "God's Help"; then, leading the first division himself, he joined battle with Nicanor." (2 Maccabees 8:21-23 RSV-CE)[2] Just after this battle, as the Talmud,[3] Josephus,[4] 1 Maccabees 4:36-59, and 2 Maccabees 10:1-8; the brothers recaptured and rededicated the Temple of Jerusalem, starting the Festival of Dedication (or as it's more commonly known, Hanukkah.) Death The final references to John Gaddi are the events surrounding his death. This is the account found in 1 Maccabees: "And Jonathan sent his brother as leader of the multitude and begged the Nabateans, who were his friends, for permission to store with them the great amount of baggage which they had. But the sons of Jambri from Medeba came out and seized John and all that he had, and departed with it. After these things it was reported to Jonathan and Simon his brother, 'The sons of Jambri are celebrating a great wedding, and are conducting the bride, a daughter of one of the great nobles of Canaan, from Nadabath with a large escort.' And they remembered the blood of John their brother, and went up and hid under cover of the mountain."' - LifeSketch: Judah Maccabee (or Judas Maccabeus, also spelled Machabeus, or Maccabæus, Hebrew: ודה המכבי,[1] Yehudah HaMakabi) was a Jewish priest (kohen) and a son of the priest Mattathias. He led the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire (167–160 BCE). The Jewish holiday of Hanukkah ("Dedication") commemorates the restoration of Jewish worship at the Second Temple in Jerusalem in 164 BCE, after Judah Maccabeus removed all of the statues depicting Greek gods and goddesses and purified it. Judah was the third son of Mattathias the Hasmonean, a Jewish priest from the village of Modiin. In 167 BCE Mattathias, together with his sons Judah, Eleazar, Simon, John, and Jonathan, started a revolt against the Seleucid ruler Antiochus IV Epiphanes, who since 175 BCE had issued decrees that forbade Jewish religious practices. After Mattathias's death in 166 BCE, Judah assumed leadership of the revolt in accordance with the deathbed disposition of his father. The First Book of Maccabees praises Judah's valor and military talent, suggesting that those qualities made Judah a natural choice for the new commander. In the early days of the rebellion, Judah received a surname Maccabee. Several explanations have been put forward for this surname. One suggestion is that the name derives from the Aramaic maqqaba ("makebet" in modern Hebrew), "hammer" or "sledgehammer" (cf. the cognomen of Charles Martel, the 8th century Frankish leader), in recognition of his ferocity in battle. Others believe it is in reference to his weapon of choice. It is also possible that the name Maccabee is an acronym for the Torah verse Mi kamokha ba'elim Adonai, "Who among the gods is like you, O Adonai?", his battle-cry to motivate troops. (Exodus 15:11). Rabbi Moshe Schreiber writes that it is an acronym for his father's name Mattityahu Kohen Ben Yochanan. Some scholars maintain that the name is a shortened form of the Hebrew maqqab-ya ¯hû (from na ¯qab, ‘‘to mark, to designate’’), meaning ‘‘the one designated by Yahweh.’ The Roman–Jewish Treaty was an agreement made between Judah Maccabee and the Roman Republic in 161 BCE according to 1 Maccabees 8:17–20 and Josephus. It was the first recorded contract between the Jewish people and the Romans. The agreement with Rome failed to have any effect on Demetrius' policy. On receipt of the news of Nicanor's defeat, he dispatched a new army, again commanded by Bacchides. This time the Seleucid forces of 20,000 men were numerically so superior that most of Judah's men left the field of battle and advised their leader to do likewise and to await a more favorable opportunity. However, Judah decided to stand his ground. In the Battle of Elasa, Judah and those who remained faithful to him were killed. His body was taken by his brothers from the battlefield and buried in the family sepulchre at Modiin. The death of Judah Maccabee (d. 160 BCE) stirred the Jews to renewed resistance. After several additional years of war under the leadership of two of Mattathias' other sons (Jonathan and Simon), the Jews finally achieved independence and the liberty to worship freely.

- LifeSketch: Simon Thassi (שמעון התסי, Šiməōn HaṮasī') died 135 BCE was the second son of Mattathias and thus a member of the Hasmonean family. The name "Thassi" has a connotation of "the Wise", a title which can also mean "the Director", "the Guide", "the Man of Counsel", and "the Zealous". Simon took a prominent part in the Jewish revolt against the Seleucid Empire led by his brothers, Judas Maccabaeus and Jonathan Apphus. The successes of the Jews rendered it expedient for the Seleucid leaders in Syria to show them special favour. Therefore, Antiochus VI appointed Simon strategus, or military commander, of the coastal region stretching from the Ladder of Tyre to Egypt. As strategus, Simon conquered the cities of Beth-zur and Joppa, garrisoning them with Jewish troops and built the fortress of Adida. After the capture of Jonathan by the Seleucid general, Diodotus Tryphon, Simon was elected leader by the people, assembled at Jerusalem. He at once completed the fortification of the capital, and made Joppa secure (1 Maccabees 13:8-13:11; Josephus, Antiquities Bk 13 Ch 6:4). At Hadid he blocked the advance of Tryphon, who was attempting to enter the country and seize the throne of Syria. Since Tryphon could gain nothing by force, he demanded a ransom for Jonathan and the surrender of Jonathan's sons as hostages. Although Simon was fully aware that Tryphon would deceive him, both Josephus and 1 Maccabees state that he acceded to both demands so that the people might see that he had done everything possible for his brother. Jonathan was nevertheless treacherously assassinated, and the hostages were not returned. Simon thus became the sole leader of the people. As an opponent of Diodotus Tryphon, Simon decided to side with the Seleucid king, Demetrius II, to whom he sent a deputation requesting freedom from taxation for the country. The fact that his request was granted implied the recognition of the political independence of Judea. He became the first prince of the Hebrew Hasmonean Dynasty. He reigned from 142 to 135 BCE. The Hasmonean Dynasty was founded by a resolution, adopted in 141 BCE, at a large assembly "of the priests and the people and of the elders of the land, to the effect that Simon should be their leader and high priest forever, until there should arise a faithful prophet".(1 Macc. 14:41) Recognition of the new dynasty by the Roman Republic was accorded by the Senate about 139 BCE, when the delegation representing Simon was in Rome. Simon made the Jewish people semi-independent of the Seleucid Empire. In February 135 BCE, he was assassinated at the instigation of his son-in-law and rival Ptolemy, son of Abubus. Simon was followed by his third son, John Hyrcanus, whose two brothers, Mattathias and Judah, had been murdered, together with their father. -- Simon was followed by his third son, John Hyrcanus, whose two elder brothers, Mattathias and Judah, had been murdered, together with their father. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Thassi -- Simon the Thassi Maccabeus, Prince and High Priest of Judea https://www.geni.com/people/Simon-the-Thassi-Maccabeus-Prince-and-High-Priest-of-Judea-2/6000000012127005536 Simon The Thassi https://www.genealogieonline.nl/en/stamboom-homs/I6000000012127005536.php

That ‘Prince’ was Jacob ben Matthan, and she was given to him by her mother, Queen Cleopatra, just prior to her imminent suicide with Antony. The young Cleopatra was three weeks short of her 13th birthday at the time; and from this time was known as Cleopatra of Jerusalem. Queen Cleopatra also had a son with Julius Caesar, named Caesarian, who was 14 at the time of his capture. It was at this time that he was strangled at the order of Octavian Caesar, Julius Caesar’s nephew who inherited everything from Caesar, for “there was not enough room for two Caesars in the Roman Empire”. Jacob ben Matthan and Cleopatra of Jerusalem had a son in 29 BCE, named Prince Joseph ben Jacob. Jacob and Cleopatra also had twin boys, born in 26 BCE. Their names were Ptolas/Ptoles and Cleopas/Clopas and they play into the future history of those close to Jesus. In 23 BCE, intrigue and lust enter the reign of Herod the Great which profoundly affects history. Sort of a prehistoric Henry VIII actually. Herod falls in love with a beautiful princess, Mariamne, son of Simon IV Boethus. It plays out one of two ways: Either in order to justify his marriage into the family, Herod needs to elevate the status of the family in some way so he appoints Mariamne’s father, Simon IV Boethus, to the position of High Priest; or: because he is in love with Mariamne and wants to marry her, her father, Simon IV wants something in return. The two things he gets are: elevation to the status of High Priest of Jerusalem, and he is given in marriage a beautiful bride himself, none other than Cleopatra of Jerusalem, the daughter of Cleopatra of Egypt and Julius Caesar. Mariamne will be the fourth wife of Herod, and the second one named Mariamne (so she is often referred to as Mariamne II). Note that at this time, in 23 BCE, the current High Priest of Jerusalem is Yehoshua III. Yehoshua is the father of three daughters, the priestesses Jane/JoAnna, Elizabeth, and (H)anna. In order to facilitate this marriage to Simon IV Boethus, Herod also accuses Jacob ben Matthan of sedition and has him executed in 23 BCE as well. Judas the Galilean will be known as the zealot who led the uprising in 6 CE against Roman taxes. https://www.rebejames.com/jacob-ben-matthan ___________________________________________________ Azor ben Eliakim 53 was the son of the Governor of Judea, Eliakim. - Leader of a popular revolt against the Romans: at the time when the first census of Quirinius (governor of Syria) was taken in Judea, in which revolt he perished and his followers were dispersed (Acts v. 37)
- LifeSketch: Judas the Galilean who was also an active Zealot known for his role in leading a Jewish revolt in 6 CE against Herod’s new taxing legislation. Judas the Galilean dies in this skirmish in 6 CE. Judas of Galilee, or Judas of Gamala, was a Jewish leader who led resistance to the census imposed for Roman tax purposes by Quirinius in Judea Province around 6 CE. He encouraged Jews not to register and those that did had their houses burnt and their cattle stolen by his followers. He began the "fourth philosophy" of the Jews which Josephus blames for the disastrous war with the Romans in 66–70. These events are discussed by Josephus in The Jewish War and in Antiquities of the Jews and mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles. In Antiquities of the Jews, Josephus states that Judas, along with Zadok the Pharisee, founded the "fourth sect" of 1st century Judaism (the first three being the Sadducees, the Pharisees, and the Essenes). Josephus blamed this fourth sect for the First Jewish–Roman War of 66–73. Judas and Zaddok's group were theocratic nationalists who preached that God alone was the ruler of Israel and urged that no taxes should be paid to Rome. Several scholars, such as Gunnar Haaland and James S. McLaren, have suggested that Josephus's description of the fourth sect does not reflect historical reality, but was constructed to serve his own interests. According to Haaland, the part covering the sect acts as a transition and an introduction to the excursion concerning the Jewish schools of thought, all of which Josephus presents to portray the majority of Jews in a positive light, and to show that the Jewish War was incited by a radical minority. Similarly, McLaren proposes that Judas and his sect act as scapegoats for the war that are chronologically, geographically and socially removed from the priestly circles of Jerusalem (and Josephus himself). Josephus does not relate the death of Judas, although he does report that Judas' sons James and Simon were executed by procurator Tiberius Julius Alexander in about 46 CE. He also reports that Menahem ben Judah, one of the early leaders of the Jewish Revolt in 66 CE, was Judas' "son", but some scholars doubt this. Menahem may have been Judas' grandson, however. Menahem's cousin, Eleazar ben Ya'ir, then escaped to the fortress of Masada where he became a leader of the last doomed defenders against the Roman Empire. Judas is referred to in Acts of the Apostles, in which a speech by Gamaliel, a member of the Sanhedrin, identifies Theudas and Judas as examples of failed Messianic movements, and suggests that the movement emerging in the name of Jesus of Nazareth could similarly fail. *wikipedia

- LifeSketch: Matthew 1:16 is mistranslated, actually Joseph is FATHER of Mary, hence Mary's genealogy. See explanation in memories. Luke 3 is Joseph's genealogy, hence father is Heli. Heli ben Matthat Luke 3:23-24 23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli, 24 Which was the son of Matthat, which was the son of Levi, which was the son of Melchi, which was the son of Janna, which was the son of Joseph, The 3 images of Joachim, Anna and Mary are incorrect. Mary's father is Joseph son of Jacob. The following narratives are incorrect with mentions of Mary as daughter of Heli. Mary is the daughter of Joseph son of Jacob. http://www.biblesearchers.com/yahshua/davidian/dynasty2.shtml#LukeMaryLineage Her Davidian father, Prince Alexander III Helios, was executed by King Herod the Great in a series of persecutions or pogrom against the Davidians. It was Herod’s attempt to eliminate any rival to the throne of Judea. The death of Heli occurred, according to Davidian genealogist David Hughes, in the “Davidic Dynasty”, either in the years of 20 to 16 BCE or 17 to 13 BCE. Heli’s wife, Anne or Hannah, died a few years later and the orphaned young maiden was placed in the temple within the Order of the Temple-Virgins until she was eligible for marriage about the year of her bat Mitzvoth at the age of 12-13 years of age. This young maiden was of supreme interest to the priest elite. She was the granddaughter of the High Priest Yeshua III, who died apparently the year of 23 BCE, by execution, according to some scholars, for sedition against the throne of Herod. From all appearances, the Yehoshua the high priest never knew his granddaughter, Miriam, as she was born about three years later in the year of 20 to 19 BCE. Also known as: Prince Alexander III “Helios” source? https://origin-science.org/genealogy-of-jesus-and-mary-magdalene/ https://www.geni.com/people/Heli-ben-Matat/377488270840013774 Submitted by: darwinmaxbagley1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yehoshua (Jesus) III, the High Priest married his daughters as child brides to a Davidian and Maccabee prince, Alexander III Helios, a Davidian Nasi and Prince of Israel, Joachim, and a noted priest, Zacharias of the course of Abijah. Then Jesus III, the High Priest disappears from Jewish history. He hear later of a Ishmael ben Fabus who ruled as high priest in the year of 15-16 CE and later restored, no doubt quite aged in 56-62 CE, just prior to the final era of Temple of Herod in Jerusalem. A son of the famous Boethus family of seven sons, Mary’s great-great-great grandfather, arrived into Jewish history as one of the giants of the priests of the House of Zadok. The High Priest Hananeel (Ananelus) the Egyptian was privileged to sacrifice one of the nine red heifers before the temple of Herod was destroyed in 70 BCE. Miriam was the grand-daughter of the first High Priest (Yahusha III) to serve in the Second Temple - She was the daughter of Hannah (Anna) who was the daughter of the High Priest Yahusha III. Yahusha III was the first High Priest to serve in the second Temple coming out of Babylonian/Persian captivity. Yahusha III was a High Priest in the line of Zadok or a Zadokite High Priest who was to re-establish the House of Zadok in the office of High Priest. · Miriam was the daughter of Heli, a Davidic and Hasmonean Prince – Heli as he is called in the genealogy of Yahusha in the Bible was also known as Alexander Helios (Heli) III in history. HEli was the son of the future Maccabee Queen Alexandra II, who at this time was known by her Jewish name, Esther of Jerusalem. Heli was executed, in the world where many Davidian aspirants, as the “young lions of Judah”, were eliminated by the cruel and tyrannical King Herod the Great as they were a threat to his throne. It is this fifth brother who is said to have unsuccessfully sought the throne at the death of Aristobulus I. __________________________________________________ John Hyrcanus (/hərˈkeɪnəs/; יוחנן הורקנוס Yōḥānān Hurqanōs; Ancient Greek: Ἰωάννης Ὑρκανός, romanized: Iōánnēs Hurkanós) was a Hasmonean (Maccabean) leader and Jewish high priest of the 2nd century BCE (born 164 BCE, reigned from 134 BCE until his death in 104 BCE). In rabbinic literature he is often referred to as Yoḥanan Cohen Gadol (יוחנן כהן גדול), "John the High Priest". Josephus explains in The Jewish War that John was also known as "Hyrcanus", but does not explain the reason behind this name. The only other primary source, the Books of the Maccabees, never used this name with respect to John. The single occurrence of the name Hyrcanus in 2 Maccabees 3:11 refers to a man to whom some of the money in the Temple belonged during the c. 178 BCE visit of Heliodorus. The reason for the name is disputed amongst biblical scholars, with a variety of reasons proposed: . Familial origin in the region of Hyrcania on the Caspian Sea . a Greek regnal name, which would have represented closer ties with the Hellenistic culture against which the Maccabees had revolted under Seleucid rule. However, the region of Hyrcania had been conquered by Mithridates I of Parthia in 141–139 BCE . given the name by the Seleucids after he fought in the region alongside Antiochus VII Sidetes against Phraates II of Parthia in 130–129 BCE, a campaign which resulted in the release of Antiochus' brother Demetrius II Nicator from captivity in Hyrcania. He was the son of Simon Thassi and hence the nephew of Judas Maccabaeus, Jonathan Apphus and their siblings, whose story is told in the deuterocanonical books of 1 Maccabees and 2 Maccabees, in the Talmud, and in Josephus. Ailill mac Echach BINNICH
- Birth: 13 SEP 71 BC, Jerusalem, Judah, Palestine, Israel
- LifeSketch: Matt 1:16 has a translational error. Husband should read Father. Matt 1:17 states there are three groups of 14 generations. The last group is actually 13 if Joseph is a husband, but 14 if a Father. Also, Matthew's use of Greek word for husband in verse 19 is different than Greek word in verse 16, meaning he meant something different. As the context of 19 forces the word husband, then the different greek word in verse 16 must needs be Father, which permits for 14 generations. ================================== Married twice ... . Heli of the tribe of Nathan . Jacob of the tribe of Solomon The following table is a side-by-side comparison of Matthew's and Luke's genealogies. Converging sections are shown with a green background, and diverging sections are shown with a red background. Comparison of Matthew's and Luke's genealogiesThe Church Fathers held that both accounts are true. In his book An Exact Exposition of the Orthodox Faith, John Damascene argues that Heli of the tribe of Nathan (the son of David) died childless, and Jacob of the tribe of Solomon, took his wife and raised up seed to his brother and begat Joseph, in accordance with scripture, namely, yibbum (the mitzvah that a man must marry his brother's childless widow); Joseph, therefore, is by nature the son of Jacob, of the line of Solomon, but by law he is the son of Heli of the line of Nathan. *Wikipedia
