- LifeSketch: Wikipedia Titus Sextius Lateranus was a Roman senator active in the second century AD. He was ordinary consul in the year 154 as the colleague of Lucius Verus.[1] Lateranus is also known by a more full name, which has been restored in two different ways: Titus Sextius Lateranus M. Vibius Ovel[lius?...] Secundus L. Vol[usius Torquatus?] Vestinus,[2] or Titus Sextius ... M. Vibius Qui[etus?] Secundus L. Vol[usius Torquatus?] Vestinus.[3] Lateranus was a member of the Roman Republican gens Sextia.[2] He was the son of Titus Sextius Cornelius Africanus, consul in 112,[4] by his wife, a noblewoman from the gens Vibia. The cursus honorum for Lateranus can be reconstructed from an inscription from Rome.[5] That this inscription attests he was a member of the tresviri monetalis, the most prestigious of the four boards that comprised the vigintiviri, and performed his duties as a quaestor for the Emperor indicates he became a member of the patrician order. His status also explains the absence of any office between quaestor and his consulate except for praetor. At an unknown date he was a member of the sodales Hadrianales, a priesthood dedicated to performing rituals honoring the deified emperor Hadrian.[3] He served as a Proconsul of the Province of Africa in 168/169, considered the apex of a successful senatorial career.[6] Lateranus was the father of Titus Sextius Magius Lateranus, ordinary consul in 197.[7]

- LifeSketch: Lazarus of Bethany, also known as Saint Lazarus or Lazarus of the Four Days, venerated in the Eastern Orthodox Church as (Righteous) Lazarus the Four Days Dead after he rose again,[6] is the subject of a prominent sign of Jesus in the Gospel of John, in which Jesus restores him to life four days after his death. The Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic traditions offer varying accounts of the later events of his life. In the context of the seven signs in the Gospel of John, the raising of Lazarus at Bethany – today the West Bank town of Al-Eizariya, which translates to "the place of Lazarus" – is the climactic narrative: exemplifying the power of Jesus "over the last and most irresistible enemy of humanity: death. For this reason, it is given a prominent place in the gospel." A figure named Lazarus (Latinised from the Aramaic: אלעזר, Elʿāzār, cf. Heb. Eleazar—"God helped") is also mentioned in the Gospel of Luke. The two Biblical characters named "Lazarus" have sometimes been conflated historically, but are generally understood to be two separate people.

Louis the Stammerer was physically weak and outlived his father by only two years." "He succeeded his younger brother Charles the Child as the ruler of Aquitaine in 866 and his father in West Francia in 877, but he was *never* crowned Holy Roman Emperor." "Louis was crowned king on 8 October 877 by Hincmar, archbishop of Reims, at Compiegne and was crowned a second time in August 878 by Pope John VIII at Troyes while the pope was attending a council there. The pope may have even offered him the imperial crown, but it was declined. Louis had relatively little impact on politics. He was described "a simple and sweet man, a lover of peace, justice, and religion". In 878, he gave the counties of Barcelona, Girona, and Besalú to Wilfred the Hairy. His final act was to march against the invading Vikings, but he fell ill and died on 9 April or 10 April 879, not long after beginning this final campaign. On his death, his realms were divided between his two sons, Carloman II and Louis III of France." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_the_Stammerer [NB: Information sourced from Wikipedia is subject to change by third-parties. - Father: Ludwig I des Fränkischen REICHES
- Mother: Judith Römische Kaiserin
- Birth: 23 JUN 823, Frankfurt, Austrasien, Frankenreich
- Also known as: Charles "the Bald"
- Occupation: westfränkischer König, 860
- Occupation: König von Italien und Römischer Kaiser, 876
- Occupation: König von Italien und Römischer Kaiser, 876
- Oaths of Strasbourg: Alliance between Charles the Bald and Louis the German against their brother Lothair I
- Signed Treaty of Coulaines: Restricted the powers of the king and guaranteed rights of the nobility and clergy.
- Affiliation: House of Carolingian
- LifeSketch: Charles ΙΙ, also known as Charles the Bald was the youngest son of Louis the Pious and his second wife Judith. He was also a grandson of Charlemagne. Charles was born June 13, 823 in Frankfurt am Main, and was named Charles after his famous and powerful grandfather. His older brothers are Lothair I, Pepin of Aquitaine, and Louis the German. Charles married Ermentrude of Orléans, daughter of Odo I, Count of Orléansin, in 842 and they had 10 children: Judith of Flanders, Louis the Stammerer, Charles the Child, Lothair the Lame, Carloman, Rotrude and Ermentrud (both who became nuns), Hildegarde, Gisela, and Godehilde. Ermentrude died October 6 869 and in 870 Charles married Richilde of the Ardennes, daughter of Bivin of Gorze, Count of the Ardennes. Together they had 5 more children: Rothilde, Drogo, Pippin, a son who died an infant in 875, and Charles. Unfortunately out of these 5 only Rothilde survived to adulthood. Charles the Bald was not bald, he is pictured with a full head of hair. 'The Bald' rather refers to his lack of lands when he was young. Charles father Louis the Pious was King of Aquitaine, Emperor of Rome and King of the Franks. Although Charles was his youngest son, Louis named him his heir in 837. Charles would spend most of his life in a power struggle with his older brothers over the lands conquered by their grandfather. Charles older brother Pepin died in 838 and Charles was made King of Aquitaine. His father Louis the Pious died in 840 and war erupted between his sons. Oldest son Lothair consolidated control of Middle Francia and became Emperor of Rome. Charles allied with his brother Louis against their older brother. Louis became King of East Francia (King of Germany) and Charles King of West Francia (King of France) After the death of his brother Lothair and then his brothers son Emperor Louis II, Charles traveled to Rome and was crowned Holy Roman Emperor by Pope John VIII on December 25, 875. Charles died on 6 October 877 in Brides-les-Bains while crossing the pass of Mont Cenis. He was buried initially at the abbey of Nantua, Burgundy but a few years later, his remains were transferred to the Abbey of Saint-Denis where he had long wished to be buried. Charles and Ermentrude had the following children: -Judith (c.843–after 866), married first King Ethelwulf of Wessex, second his son King Ethelbald, and third Baldwin I, Margrave of Flanders -Louis the Stammerer (846–879) -Charles the Child (847–866) -Lothair the Lame (848–866), monk in 861, became Abbot of Saint-Germain -Carloman (849–876) -Rotrude (852–912), a nun, Abbess of Saint-Radegunde -Ermentrud (854–877), a nun, Abbess of Hasnon -Hildegarde (born 856, died young) -Gisela (857–874) -Godehilde (864–907) The children of Charles and Richilde are: -Rothilde (871–929), married Hugues, Count of Bourges and 2nd Roger, Count of Maine. -Drogo (872–873) -Pippin (873–874) -a son (born and died 875) -Charles (876–877) ------------------------------ “Royal Ancestry: A Study in Colonial & Medieval Families,” Douglas Richardson (2013): “CHARLES II the Bald, King of Neustria, 838-840, King of the West Franks, 840-877, King of (western) Lorraine, 870-877, King of Italy, 875-877, Emperor, 875-877, son by his father's 2nd marriage, born at Frankfurt-am-Main 13 June 823. He married (1st) at Quierzy, Aisne 13 Dec. 842 ERMENTRUDE OF ORLÉANS, daughter of Eudes, Count of Orléans, by his wife, Engeltrude. She was born 27 Sept., about 830. They had six sons, Louis (II) [King of Neustria, King of Aquitaine, King of France], Charles [King of Aquitaine], Karlmann (or Carloman) [Abbot of St.-Germain of Auxerre], Lothair [Abbot of St.-Germain of Auxerre], Dreux, and Pépin, and four daughters, Judith, Hildegarde, Ermentrude [Abbess of Hasnon], and Gisela (or Gisele). His wife, Ermentrude, died 6 October 869. He married (2nd) 12 October 869, confirmed at Aix-la-Chapelle 22 Jan. 870 RICHILDE OF GORZE, daughter of Bivin, Count and Abbot of Gorze, by daughter of Boson l'Ancien, count in Italy. They had three children, including one son, Charles, and one daughter, Rothilde (wife of Rodgar [or Roger], Count of Maine). CHARLES II the Bald, Emperor, King of the West Franks, died at Brides-les-Bains (Savoie, Fr.) 6 October 877, and was buried at Nantua monastery, later at St. Denis. "Hugo Liziniacensis" donated property to St Cyprien by charter dated [1025] "sub testimonio Hildeardis uxoris sue et infantum suorum Hugonis et Rorgonis, Walterii prepositi et Belielini filii eius"[286]. Hugh married (separated), as her first husband, ALMODIS de la Marche, daughter of BERNARD Comte de la Marche & his wife Amelia --- (-murdered 16 Oct 1071). The Chronicle of Saint-Maixent records the marriage of "Almodim…sororem Audeberti comitis de Marcha" and "Pontius comes Tolosanus", specifying that she was previously the wife of "Hugo Pius de Liziniaco" from whom she was separated for consanguinity and that afterwards she married "Raimundo Barcinonensi"[290]. She married secondly ([1045] repudiated 1053 after 29 Jun) Pons Comte de Toulouse. "Poncius Tolosanus urbis comes" recorded the union of the abbey of Moissac with the abbey of Cluny, with the advice of "uxoris meæ Adalmodis comitissæ", by charter dated 29 Jun 1053[291]. She married thirdly (1053) as his third wife, Ramón Berenguer "el Viejo" Conde de Barcelona. Hugues [V] & his wife had three children: (Hugues [VI], Jordain and Melisende). - LifeSketch: Wikipedia Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus Marcellinus (c. 90 BC – c. 48 BC) was a Roman statesman and consul of 56 BC. He was married at least twice. His first wife is unknown but his second wife was probably Scribonia, at least twenty years his junior, who later became the second wife of Augustus. Biography Early life He was the son of Cornelia (the daughter of Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica) and Publius Cornelius Lentulus Marcellinus.[1] Career We know several offices Marcellinus held over the course of his life. First, he was quaestor the same year his brother Publius was quaestor for the province of Cyrenaica. After serving as a plebeian tribune, Marcellinus appears in the historical record as a legate of Pompey in 67 BC.[2] After his praetorship, Marcellinus was appointed governor of Syria for the term 59/58 BC.[3] Family By his first wife he was the father of Lentulus Marcellinus, Caesar's quaestor put in command of his fortifications at Dyrrhachium in 48 BC. By Scribonia he was father of two children, a boy and a girl.[4] The boy was Cornelius Marcellinus.[5] Some authorities, such as Ronald Syme, believed Cornelius Marcellinus died young;[6] however, John Scheid has persuasively argued that he should be identified with Publius Cornelius Lentulus Marcellinus, consul of 18 BC.[7] The girl was Cornelia, who married Lucius Aemilius Lepidus Paullus (suffect consul in 34 BC), only to die the year her brother ascended to the consulate.[8] Marcellinus died before 47 BC. Scribonia remarried Augustus and became mother to his only child, Julia the Elder.

- Birth: ABT 50 BC, Rome, Roman Republic
- Occupation: Praetor, 29 BC, Roma, Roman Republic
- Occupation: Consul of Rome, 18 BC, Roma, Roman Republic
- LifeSketch: Publius Cornelius Lentulus Marcellinus (fl. 1st century BC – 1st century AD) was a Roman Senator who was elected Roman consul in 18 BC, with Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus as his colleague.[1] During his consulship, the Senate and the Roman assembly again conferred upon the Roman emperor Augustus his extraordinary promagisterial authority and his Tribunician power. Biography Much about the ancestry and career of Publius Cornelius Lentulus Marcellinus is uncertain and is based on a great deal of supposition; what is certain is the praenomen of his father, Publius, which is attested in his filiation. It is postulated that our Marcellinus may have been the son of Publius Cornelius Lentulus Marcellinus, who may have been a Triumvir monetalis in 50 BC, but it is certain he was elected quaestor in 48 BC; Marcellinus the quaestor commanded a portion of Julius Caesar's defences at Dyrrachium which was attacked by Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus, and in the process Marcellinus sustained heavy losses.[2] There is also a Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus Marcellinus, consul in 56 BC, who is considered the father of the quaestor, who could be the grandfather of our Marcellinus. There is a fragmentary list of the praetors of 29 BC, which includes a "Cornelius Lentulus Marc[...]", which has led some experts to identify this person with the consul of 18 BC.[3] Ronald Syme notes a number of implications if this identification is correct. One is a long interval elapsed between Marcellinus' praetorship and consulship, which is unusual, especially for a member of the patrician class,[4] which, as Syme observes, "is not inconceivable in the first decade of the new order. On the other hand, perhaps a different Marcellinus."[5] Even more important is Syme's observation, "In any event a praetor of 29 cannot be the son of a quaestor in 48."[5] It is possible that Marcellinus may be the Cornelius Lentulus appointed Legatus Augusti pro praetore in Pannonia in the first years of the 1st century AD.[6] However, Syme argues that Cornelius Lentulus the general is more likely identified as Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus Augur, consul in AD 14.[7]

- LifeSketch: Wikiwand - Lucius Aemilius Paullus (flourished 1st century BC) was a Roman politician. He was the brother of triumvir Marcus Aemilius Lepidus and son to Marcus Aemilius Lepidus the consul of 78 BC. His mother may have been a daughter of Lucius Appuleius Saturninus. Paullus supported Cicero during the Catiline Conspiracy. He never supported Pompey, probably because he held a grudge against him for betraying his father in 77. Paullus was quaestor in 59 BC, aedile in 55, praetor in 53 and consul in 50. During Paullus' consulship, Julius Caesar bribed him for his support. He reconstructed the Basilica Aemilia in Rome, with part of his bribery money. According to Valerius Maximus: "When the senate decreed that the temples of Isis and Serapis be demolished and none of the workmen dared touch them, consul Lucius Aemilius Paullus took off his official gown, seized an axe, and dashed it against the doors of that temple", (I, 3.3; quoting Julius Paris (translation from Loeb edition). Paullus opposed the second triumvirate of Octavian, Mark Antony and Paullus' own brother, Marcus Lepidus. He supported Cicero in condemning its members. The triumvirs included him in their proscriptions. However, according to Cassius Dio, his brother allowed him to escape.[1] Lepidus' soldiers left him unhindered. Paullus joined the political rebel Marcus Junius Brutus. When Brutus died in 42, Paullus was pardoned and lived his remaining years at Miletus. Paullus' son, Paullus Aemilius Lepidus, was consul in 34 BC, and in 22 he shared the office of censor with Augustus.
- Death: 14 BC, Miletus, Anatolia, Roman Empire
