Sybille D'AQUITAINES
\-Dangereuse DE CHÂTTELLERAULT
- Birth: 165 BC
- Residence: (Date and Place unknown)
- Title Of Nobility: King of the Nabataeans
- LifeSketch: Aretas I is the first known King of the Nabataeans. His name appeared on the oldest Nabataean inscription dating from 168 BC which was found at Halutza. He is also mentioned in the deuterocanonical book 2 Maccabees (5:8). This book presents how Jason, the High Priest of Israel who founded a Greek quarter in Jerusalem, was held prisoner by Aretas I after being forced to leave Jerusalem. Sources disagree on his successor's identity : . Malichus I 144 BC-110 BC, . Rabbel I whose ruling time would have begun in 140 BC. __________________________________________________ Nabateans were Arabian nomads from the Negev Desert who amassed their wealth first as traders on the Incense Routes which wound from Qataban (in modern-day Yemen) through neighboring Saba (a powerful trade hub) and on toward Gaza on the Mediterranean Sea. Their constant travel on these routes intimately familiarized them with the area and their skill in finding, and preserving, sources of water enabled them to transport goods more quickly and efficiently than others. The site of their city of Petra, carved from the sandstone cliffs of mountains and not easily accessible, would have been built after they were already wealthy from trade. Their decision to build in that particular area has mystified scholars and historians for centuries because there was no natural source of water there and the locale was far from hospitable. The location actually makes a great deal of sense, however, as their position at Petra allowed them to monitor the Incense Routes and tax caravans passing through their territory, thus enriching them further, and its inaccessibility provided protection. Following annexation by Rome in 106 CE, Petra and other Nabatean cities such as Hegra steadily lost their hold over the Incense Routes and their control over the region generally. The rise of the Syrian city of Palmyra as a center of trade diverted caravans from the Nabatean cities which then declined in wealth and prestige. The emperor Aurelian's destruction of Palmyra c. 272 CE came too late to resuscitate the Nabatean economy, and by the time of the Arab Invasion of the 7th century CE, the Nabatean Kingdom had been forgotten.

- Also known as: Clemence
- Also known as: Clemence de Warenne
- Also known as: Clementia (mistress)
- Alt. Birth: 12 JUN 1166, Charente, Maine, Poitou-Charentes, France
- LifeSketch: Clemence Pinel mistress of King John 1 and mother of Joan of Wales. Joan (Joanna) was an illegitimate daughter of King John of England and a woman named Clemence Pinel. Her mother's name is known only from Joan's obituary in the Tewkesbury Annals, where she is mysteriously called "Regina Clementina" (Queen Clemence). Alternative: Wikipedia for Hamelin (Plantagenet) De Warenne says his daughter Clemence De Warenne, was the mistress and perhaps later wife of her cousin King John. She had to him a son, Richard (Baron of Chilham). It seems she was also the mother of King John's illegitimate daughter Joan, as she recorded her mother as 'Queen Clemence'.[Joan of Wales'] mother's name is known only from Joan's obituary in the Tewkesbury Annals, where she is called "Regina Clementina" (Queen Clemence); there is no evidence that her mother was in fact of royal blood. Joan may have been born in France, and probably spent part of her childhood there, as King John had her brought to the Kingdom of England from Normandy in December 1203, in preparation for a marriage alliance to Prince Llywelyn ap Iorwerth. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan,_Lady_of_Wales ------------------------------------------------------------------- Illegitimate child of John of England, when a single man, by a mistress, Clemence _________, an unmarried woman. The identity of Clemence, mother of King John's illegitimate daughter, Joan, is presently unknown. She is perhaps the same person as Clemence le Boteler, wife of Nicholas de Verdun, Knt. (died 1231), of Brandon (in Wolston), Warwickshire, Altn, Staffordshire, etc. IN 1228 Nicholas and his wife, Clemence, were granted custody of the king's niece, Susanna, daughter of Llywelyn, Prince of North Wales and his wife, Joan. If Clemence was Susanna's grandmother, it would explain her inclusion in the grant of Susanna's custody. Regardless, stronger evidence is needed before any firm conclusion can be drawn about a possible relationship between these families. Royal Ancestry by Douglas Richardson, Vol. 1 pg 52

- Father: Abas OF ARGOS
- LifeSketch: Family Acrisius was the son of Abas and Aglaea[1] (or Ocalea, depending on the author), grandson of Lynceus, great-grandson of Danaus. He was the twin brother of Proetus and the half brother of Lyrcus.[2] Acrisius was father by Eurydice[3] or Aganippe[4][5] of Danae and thus grandfather of the hero Perseus through her. His other daughter was Evarete, wife of King Oenomaus of Pisa in Elis.[6] Mythology Rivalry of Twins Acrisius and Proetus was said to have quarreled even in the womb of their mother and when Abas died and Acrisius had grown up, he expelled Proetus from his inheritance. On his exile, Proetus was supported by his father-in-law Iobates, the Lycian, Proetus returned, and Acrisius was compelled to share his kingdom with his brother by giving Tiryns to him, while he retained Argos for himself. Death Disappointed by his lack of luck in having a son, Acrisius consults the Oracle at Delphi, who warns him that he will one day be killed by his daughter Danaë's son. Danaë is childless and to keep her so, he imprisons her in a bronze chamber open to the sky in the courtyard of his palace. Zeus impregnates her in the form of a golden shower (some accounts say it is her uncle, Proetus, who impregnates her).[7] Danaë becomes pregnant with Perseus. Acrisius puts the child and Danaë in a chest and throws it into the sea. Zeus asks Poseidon to calm the water; he does and Danaë and Perseus survive, washing up on the island of Seriphos. A fisherman named Dictys, brother of King Polydectes, finds the pair and takes care of them.[8][9][10] Perseus grows up to be a hero, killing Medusa and rescuing Andromeda. Perseus and Danaë return to Argos with Andromeda, but King Acrisius has gone to Larissa. When Perseus arrives in Larissa, he participates in funeral games and accidentally strikes Acrisius on the head with a discus, killing him and fulfilling the prophecy.[11] Founder of Delphic amphictyony According to the Scholiast on Euripides,[12] Acrisius was the founder of the Delphic amphictyony. Strabo believes that this amphictyony existed before the time of Acrisius,[13] and that he was only the first who regulated the affairs of the amphictyons, fixed the towns which were to take part in the council, gave to each its vote, and settled the jurisdiction of the amphictyons.[14] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acrisius

þa war gutland so eluist at þet daghum sanc Oc natum war uppj.”

- LifeSketch: Herbert I. Son of Aimery II. Geoffroy Grisegonnelle, Count of Anjou, appears as suzerain and protector of Viscount Herbert (it will be the same, however, vis-à-vis his son Aimery III). About 973, Geoffroy was in possession of the strengths of Loudun and Mirebeau and then encircled the area of the Vicomte of Thouars. Herbert married in 956 Aldéarde (or Hildegarde), daughter Cadelon I, Viscount of Aunay (Aulnay, Charente-Maritime) and Sénégonde. Herbert and Aldéarde had several children: Aimery III, Savary III, Raoul I, Thibault and Geoffroy. Aldéarde was famous for a mishap which happened around the year 980. Having had an affair with the Count of Poitiers William IV of Poitiers, it was exposed to the vengeance of the latter's wife, Emma de Blois. Emma took revenge by bullying her rival during a meeting. Emma took refuge in the castle of Chinon, where she waited for her husband to forgive this action
