- LifeSketch: Oliver Fitz Regis, who died in 1218 or 1219, was an illegitimate son of King John by Hawise (probably sister of Fulk Fitzwarine). He was born before John succeeded to the throne and fought in the Civil War of 1215-1217, defending Dover castle against the French. He gained much land from the rebels and was granted a castle at Tonge in Kent. While on the Fifth Crusade he died and it seems his remains were returned to England as William Camden, in his guidebook to the Abbey published in 1600, records his burial but in an unknown location in the church. https://www.westminster-abbey.org/abbey-commemorations/commemorations/oliver-fitzregis

They had one son, Guillaume [seigneur of Montmirail]. He joined his parents and his brothers, Robert and Matthew, in the foundation of the Priory of St. Giles des Chateigniers as a cell of Tiron. In 1114, as William Gouet junior, he was one of the nobles of Thibaut, Count of Chartres, whom the count called to advise him. In 1116, with his father and mother, he gave judgment in a dispute between the abbey of Marmoutier and Gaston de Brou. As "Guillaume Goët le jeune," he witnessed a charter of Guillaume de Mesmerand to the leproserie of Chateaudun c.1120. He succeeded his father before c.1125. He made an agreement c.1125 with the Prior of Saint-Denis de Nogent regarding the churches of Ceton and Saint-Ulphace. He likewise gave c.1125 to the monks of Saint-Denis the church of Unverre that Gaston de Brou gave them and that his mother Eustachie unjustly retained; for which gift he received 10 livres and his wife, Mabel, 100 sous. About 1127 he witnessed a charter of Ives de Courville, by which he quitclaimed his land in Courville to Thibaut IV, Count of Blois. In 1136 he granted various privileges to Tiron Abbey. In 1140 he confirmed the gift of Bois-Ruffin made by Ursion de Meslay. Guizot Hist. des Ducs de Normandie par Guillaume de Jumièges (1826): 284-286 (Guillaume de Jumièges, Histoire des Normands, Liv. - Father: Leutwinus VAN TRIER Bishop of Treves

- Title Of Nobility: Count of Treves
- LifeSketch: Milo of Trier (d. 762 or 763) was the son of St. Leudwinus and his successor as Archbishop of Trier and Archbishop of Reims. His great-uncle Saint Basinus had preceded his father as Archbishop of Trier. He was the great-grandson of Saint Sigrada and Saint Leodegarius was his great uncle. Milo was the son of the Leudwinus of Trier and Willigard of Bavaria. He was born a nobleman and later styled Count of Trier. His brother was Wido (Gui), Count of Hornbach. Rotrude of Hesbaye was possibly his sister. Lambert of Maastricht was a kinsman. Milo received a monastic education. Prior to his ecclesiastical career, Milo also had a military career, something he had in common with his putative brother-in-law Charles Martel. It is not clear whether Milo received anything more than a diaconal ordination. As the scion of one of the most powerful Frankish clans in Austrasia, Milo's future seemed secure. He succeeded his father as Archbishop of Trier becoming the third generation of his family to hold this position. When Charles Martel drove Saint Rigobert from Reims, Milo was appointed his successor. As bishop, Milo became a controversial figure for the Church. His avarice and fondness of earthly pleasures soon placed him in opposition with the church. Milo did not lead a spiritual life and flagrantly ignored the Rules of Saint Benedict that governed his colleagues. Paul Fouracre says that Boniface considered Milo and bishops like him "warlike, adulterous, and prone to help themselves to church property". Milo habitually used church property for his personal and political purposes, usually to indulge his illegitimate sons. He accumulated much of the riches of his dioceses and developed a reputation for corruption. Pope Zachary counseled Boniface about dealing with disreputable prelates such as Milo. "As for Milo and his like, who are doing great injury to the church of God, preach in season and out of season, according to the word of the Apostle, that they cease from their evil ways." Accounts of Milo's time as bishop are collected in the Gesta Treverorum. Politically, Milo was a formidable opponent of Boniface's reforms of the church in the eastern Frankish Empire. However, when Milo's own behavior invited the criticism of Pope Zachary, Boniface seized the opportunity and began a campaign to have Milo replaced. In March 744, Boniface successfully pursued the Council of Soissons to remove Milo as Archbishop of Trier. By that time, Milo's behavior had become so repugnant even his formidable political connections could not save him. Though he put up a lengthy resistance, Milo was deposed as bishop and replaced by Abel. Milo was killed by a wild boar in a hunting accident in Meulenwald near Trier sometime between 753 and 758. Since the 4th century, it had been a tradition to bury the bishops of Trier in the crypt at St. Maximin's Abbey in Trier. However, due to his controversial life, Milo was not given this honor and was instead buried near the scene of the accident where a memorial, The Cross of Milo, was erected.

- Title Of Nobility: Count of Troyes
- LifeSketch: Odo or Eudes I (died 10 June 871) was the Count of Troyes from 852 to 859 and Count of Châteaudun through 871. His ancestry is not known for certain. Onomastics would place him in the extended family of Odo I, Count of Orléans. The most recent studies make him a son of Robert, Count of Oberrheingau and Wormsgau, and Waldrada, a daughter of Odo of Orléans. If this theory is true, he was the elder brother of Robert the Strong. Like the rest of his family, he was a loyal follower of Charles the Bald. Though well-endowed with estates in Austrasia, like his brother Robert, he abandoned these after the Treaty of Verdun (843) in order to rejoin Charles the Bald. In 846, he was granted lands in the region of Châteaudun, made Count of Anjou, and wed to Wandilmodis. In 852, after the death of Aleran, Count of Troyes, he was nominated to hold his vacant office and his brother Robert succeeded him in Anjou. In 853, he participated in the Capitulary of Servais as missi in conjunction with Bishop Wenilo of Sens. In 858, Charles named his son Louis the Stammerer to the ducatus Cenomannicus and Robert, angered by his loss of influence there, revolted and called in the aid of Louis the German. Odo soon joined him. The brothers were subsequently expelled from their counties and Troyes confiscated and confided to one Rudolph. Odo may have recovered Troyes after Rudolph's death (866), but perhaps not. In any case, his brother made his submission in 861 and was given the March of Neustria. Odo's eponymous son was found in Troyes in 876. By Wandilmodis, he left three children: . Odo II, Count of Troyes . Robert I, Count of Troyes . a daughter who married Emenon

- Title (Nobility): Countess of Angoulême
- Title Of Nobility: Héritière du Château de Charlus-le-Pailhoux-Présussel (Bassignac-15)

- LifeSketch: William de Valence, 1st Earl of Pembroke (died 18 May 1296), born Guillaume de Lusignan, was a French nobleman and knight who became important in English politics due to his relationship to King Henry III of England. He was heavily involved in the Second Barons' War, supporting the King and Prince Edward against the rebels led by Simon de Montfort. He took the name de Valence after his birthplace, Valence, near Lusignan. He was the fourth son of Isabella of Angoulême, widow of John, King of England, and her second husband, Hugh X of Lusignan, Count of La Marche, and was thus a half-brother to Henry III, and uncle to Edward I. William was born in the Cistercian abbey in Valence [fr], Couhé-Vérac, Vienne, Poitou-Charentes, near Lusignan, sometime in the late 1220s (his elder sister Alice was born in 1224). The French conquest of Poitou in 1246 created great difficulties for William's family, and so he and his brothers, Guy de Lusignan and Aymer, accepted Henry III's invitation to come to England in 1247. The King found important positions for all of them; William was soon married to a great heiress, Joan de Munchensi or Munchensy (c. 1230 – after 20 Sep 1307), the only surviving child of Warin de Munchensi, lord of Swanscombe, and his first wife Joan Marshal, who was one of the five daughters of William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke and Isabel de Clare, 4th Countess of Pembroke suo jure. As an eventual co-heiress of the Marshal estates, Joan de Munchensi's portion included the castle and lordship of Pembroke and the lordship erected earldom of Wexford in Ireland. The custody of Joan's property was entrusted to her husband, who apparently assumed the lordships of Pembroke and Wexford between 1250 and 1260. This favoritism to royal relatives was unpopular with many of the English nobility, a discontent which would culminate in the Second Barons' War. It did not take long for William to make enemies in England. From his new lands in South Wales, he tried to regain the palatine rights which had been attached to the Earldom of Pembroke, but his energies were not confined to this. The King heaped lands and honors upon him, and he was soon thoroughly hated as one of the most prominent of the rapacious foreigners. Moreover, some trouble in Wales led to a quarrel between him and Simon de Montfort, who was to become the figurehead for the rebels. He refused to comply with the provisions imposed on the King at Oxford in 1258, and took refuge in Wolvesey Castle at Winchester, where he was besieged and compelled to surrender and leave the country. However, in 1259 William and de Montfort were formally reconciled in Paris, and in 1261 Valence was again in England and once more enjoying the royal favor. He fought for Henry at the disastrous Battle of Lewes, and after the defeat again fled to France, while de Montfort ruled England. However, by 1265 he was back, landing in Pembrokeshire, and taking part in the Siege of Gloucester and the final royalist victory at Evesham. After the battle he was restored to his estates and accompanied Prince Edward, afterwards Edward I, to Palestine. From his base in Pembrokeshire he was a mainstay of the English campaigns against Llywelyn ap Gruffudd and later Dafydd ap Gruffudd; in the war of 1282–3 that led to the conquest of Wales he negotiated the surrender of one of Dafydd's last remaining castles, Castell-y-Bere, with its custodian, Cynfrig ap Madog. He also went several times to France on public business and he was one of Edward's representatives in the famous suit over the succession to the crown of Scotland in 1291 and 1292. William de Valence died at Bayonne on the 13 Jun 1296; his body is buried at Westminster Abbey. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_de_Valence,_1st_Earl_of_Pembroke ================= Medieval Lands: GUILLAUME de Lusignan "de Valence" ([Cistercian Abbey of Valence, near Lusignan] after 1225-in England [1294/18 May 1296], bur Westminster Abbey). His parentage is stated by Matthew Paris, when he records his visit to England in 1247 to his uterine half-brother King Henry III with his older brother and his sister. Matthew Paris records the performance of "Willelmus frater dominus regis uterinus congonomento de Valentia" in a tournament in 1248, and in many other tournaments. He styled himself Lord of Pembroke, but was never invested with the earldom of Pembroke. The testament of "Hugo de Lezignen comes Marchie", dated 8 Aug 1248, appoints as his heirs "Hugonem Brunum comitem Angolisme, Guidonem, Gaufridum, Willelmum de Vallencia, milites, et Ademarum, clericum, filios meos". He joined the crusade in 1250 with King Henry III, the group meeting at Bermondsey 27 Apr. He committed a violent outrage at the manor of the Bishop of Ely at Hatfield, Hertfordshire in 1252. The Annals of Tewkesbury record that “dominus Emerinus electus Wyntoniæ, Willelmus de Walencia, et alii duo…fratres domini regis” refused to swear fidelity to the king in 1258. William of Tyre (Continuation) records his arrival in Palestine 23 Aug 1272. Lieutenant of England 1285. The Annals of Dunstable record that “Willelmus de Walence, patruus domini regis” died in 1295. m (before 13 Aug 1247) JOAN Munchensy, daughter of WARIN Munchensy Lord of Swanscombe & his wife Joan Marshal of Pembroke (-1307 before 20 Sep). The Chronicle of Tintern Abbey, Monmouthshire names "Johannam" as the daughter of "Warino de Montecaniso" and his wife, adding that she married "domino Willihelmo de Valentia". Matthew Paris names her and her father when he records her marriage. A charter dated 13 Aug 1247 ordered "William de Valence the king’s brother and Joan his wife to have seisin of the lands which belonged to John de Muntchesny of the inheritance of Walter Marshall late Earl of Pembroke, and which after John’s death ought to descend to Joan as his sister and heir". http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/ANGOULEME.htm#GuillaumeLusignanValencedied12941296 ============== Royal Ancestry by Douglas Richardson, Vol 1 pg 46, 58, 190, 232; Vol 3 pg 124/254/380; Vol 4 pg 48-49/60/61; Vol 5 pg 115 Knt., seigneur of Valence, Montignae, Bellac, Rancon, and Champagnac, Constable of Goodrich and Pembroke Castles, 1247, Warden of the Town and Castle of Hertford, 1247, 1251, Steward of the manors of Stamford and Grantham, Lincolnshire, 1258, Privy Councillor, Contable of Kilgarran Castle, 1275, Seneschal of the Agenois, 1279, Constable and Keeper of Bergavenny Castle, 1281, Constable of Kilgaran Castle, 1282, Guardian and Lieutenant of England, 1285, and, in right of his wife, Lord (or Earl) of Pembroke, and Lord of the Towns of Ross, Carnbothe, andClumene, co. He was born after 1225. He was the uterine half-brother of King Henry III of England. In 1247 William and his brothers, Guy and Aymer, and their sister, Alice, came to England at the invitation of their half-brother, King Henry III. In 1248 he was granted the manor of Bampton, Oxfordshire by the king. He was appointed joint Ambassador to France in 1249. He took the cross 6 Mar 1250, but did not go to the Holy Land. He was with the king in Aquitaine in 1253-4. He quarreled with Simon de Montfort in the Parliament of 1257. In 1260 he was appointed one of the king's representatives to negotiate a peace with France, and returned to England with Prince Edward about Easter 1261. He was again with the king in France in 1262. In 1263 he served with the king at the Siege of Northampton in April and fought at the Battle of Lewes 14 May. He escaped to Pevensey, and thence to France. In May 1265 he landed in Pembrokeshire with an armed force and joined Edward and Gloucester. He took part in the Siege of Gloucester in June, the attack on Kenilworth 1 Aug, and the Battle of Evesham 4 Aug. He took the cross again 24 Jun 1268. Sometime before 7 Feb 1270 he granted to Nicholas Fit Martin, Knt., his wife, Isabel, and to their heirs 50 marks of yearly rent to be gotten from the lands and tenements which formerly belonged to Peter Fitz Matthew, Knt.; together with all arrears which were owing to him, namely 400 pounds, on account of detinue of 50 marks, whereof he had a grant of the king in 1257; for which quitclaim, Nicholas Fitz Martin gave him 720 marks. He went on Crusade to the Holy Land with Prince Edward in 1270-3. He acted constantly for King Edward I in Aquitaine in 1273-9. In 1274-5 William and Joan his wife arraigned an assize of novel disseisin against Gilbert [de Clare], Earl of Gloucester, and Robert de Boyton touching a tenement in Woolstone, Buckinghamshire. In 1279 he served as ambassador to the King of Castile. In Jul 1282 he was appointed commander of the army of West Wales. In Aug 1282 he was granted protection in Ireland for one year, he staying in England on the king's business. In 1283 he forced David ap Griffith to surrender by taking his stronghold at Bere in Snowdonia. He presented to the churches of Whitechurch, Herefordshire, 1289, and Ganarew, Herefordshire, 1293. In 1289 he was engaged in negotiating the Treaty of Salisbury with Scotland. In 1291 he, his wife, sons, and household were granted a papal indult for a portable altar. In 1292 he was appointed joint commissioner for the armament of the kingdom. In 1294 he and the Earl of Norfolk suppressed the revolt in South Wales. In Jan 1296 he headed an embassey to Cambrai in a fruitless attempt to negotiate between King Edward I of England and King Philippe IV of France.

2 Raoul d'Ivry DE BAYEUX
- Birth: 1108, Moustier-Ventadour, Corrèze, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France
- Also known as: Le Troubadour
- Title Of Nobility: Vicomte de Ventadour (~1155), Seigneur d’Ussel (19)

- 3 queens + concubines.: Marriage and children The author of the Chronicle of Fredegar criticises the king for his loose morals in having "three queens almost simultaneously, as well as several concubines".[7] The chronicle names the queens, Nanthild and the otherwise obscure Wulfegundis and Berchildis, but none of the concubines, stating that a full list of concubines would be too long. In 625/6 Dagobert married Gormatrude, a sister of his father's wife Sichilde; but the marriage was childless. After divorcing Gormatrude in 629/30 he made Nanthild, a Saxon servant (puella) from his personal entourage, his new queen.[8] She gave birth to: Clovis II (b. 634/5) later king of Neustria and Burgundy. Shortly after his marriage to Nanthild, he took a girl called Ragnetrude to his bed, who gave birth to his youngest son: Sigebert III (b. 630/1) later king of Austrasia. It has been speculated that Regintrud, abbess of Nonnberg Abbey, was also a child of Dagobert, although this theory does not fit Regintrud's supposed date of birth between 660 and 665. She married into the Bavarian Agilolfing family (either Theodo, Duke of Bavaria or his son Duke in Salzburg).

- LifeSketch: St. Sigrada was a sister of Didon, Bishop of Poitiers 656-670. She and her brother might have been descendants of Senator Ansbertus and of Tonantius Ferreolus, who was Consul of Rome in 453. She was the mother of St. Léger, Bishop of Autun, and St. Guérin. She was shut up in the monastery of Notre Dame de Soissons by Ebroin, who persecuted her family for their faith in Christ. Her goods were confiscated, and her son, Guérin, was stoned to death. Her other son, St. Léger, was thrown into prison, where he was subjected to cruel conditions. She died shortly after the martyrdom of her sons. http://www.mathematical.com/sigradealsace.html

However, a 'Comtesse Liedgardis', different from the daughter of Comte Héribert II, is named who could have been his wife. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bertha_von_Morvois Seit den Untersuchungen von René Louis (1946), Daniel Misonne (1967) und Alain Dierkens (1985) wird die Chronik der Abtei Waulsort jedoch als Fantasiegebilde angesehen, insbesondere, was die genannte Genealogie angeht. However, since the studies by René Louis (1946), Daniel Misonne (1967) and Alain Dierkens (1985), the chronicle of Waulsort Abbey has been seen as A FIGMENT OF IMAGINATION, especially with regard to the genealogical table as constructed. This affects not only Bertha's marriage to Heribert von Vermandois, BUT BERTHA'S EXISTENCE IN GENERAL. Royal Ancestry: A Study in Colonial & Medieval Families, Douglas Richardson (2013): “HERIBERT I, Count of Vermandois, with Saint-Quentin and Peronne, and lay abbot of Saint-Quentin, c.896-900/906, Count of Soissons and lay-abbot of Saint-Crepin, before 898-900/906, born about 850. HE MARRIED AN UNIDENTIFIED WIFE. They had one son, Heribert II [Count of Meaux, Soissons, and Vermandois] and one daughter, ___ (wife of Udo, Count of the Wetterau). - LifeSketch: Herbert III of Vermandois (about 907- before 0985), Comte d'Omois, was the son of Herbert II, Count of Vermandois and Adela of France. He succeeded his father as Count of Omois in 943 and held the title until his death. Along with Omois he also "received the fortress of Château-Thierry as well as the Abbey of Saint-Médard, Soissons." In 923 Herbert III's father, Herbert II, participated in a successful revolt against the King of West Francia, Charles the Simple. Charles was overthrown and imprisoned by Herbert II until his death in 929. Charles Queen Eadgifu and young son had to flee to the safety of her family in England. It is therefor rather ironic that in 951 Herbert III abducted Charles widow from a convent in England, carried her off to France and married her. Eadgifu's son King Louis IV of France, who had regained the throne of West Francia, was understandably upset by his mothers abduction and marriage to the son of the man responsible for his fathers death. Herbert and Eadgifu did not have any children, the marriage occurring late in life. Herbert died without heirs between 980 and 985. King Lothair, Herbert's step-grandson, divided his estates between his nephews, Eudes I, Count of Blois (son of Herbert's sister Luitgard) and Herbert IV, Count of Troyes and Meaux (son of Herbert's brother Robert). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbert_III_of_Omois

- LifeSketch: Hugh of Vermandois was the second son of Herbert II of Vermandois and his wife Adèle of France, daughter of King Robert I of France. He was of the Royal House of Carolingian through both his mother and his father. In 925, when Hugh was only 5, his father Herbert II acquired the archbishopric of Rheims for him, with the help of King Rudolph. Pope John X confirmed his position in 926 and Hugh was sent to Auxerre to study. Hugh was one of the youngest bishops ever appointed, Bishop of Soissons Abbo administered the spiritual affairs of the diocese during Hugh's minority. Hugh lost the bishopric in 931 because of his fathers rebellion against King Rudolph. Hugh was restored to his position at Rheims in 940 but again lost it in 946 due to circumstances of war. He was replaced by Bishop Artoldus, and upon his death in 961, again sought to be restored to office but was not only passed over but also excommunicated by Pope John XII. Hugh never married and did not have children. He died in 962 at Meaux. -------------------------------------------------------------- “Royal Ancestry: A Study in Colonial & Medieval Families,” Douglas Richardson (2013): “HERIBERT II, Count of Meaux, Soissons, and Vermandois and lay-abbot of Saint-Crépin and Saint-Médard of Soissons, 900/907-943, born about 880. However, a "Comtesse Liedgardis", different from the daughter of Comte Héribert II, is named who could have been his wife." ----- Royal Ancestry: A Study in Colonial & Medieval Families Douglas Richardson (2013): "HERIBERT I, Count of Vermandois, with Saint-Quentin and Peronne, and lay abbot of Saint-Quentin, c.896-900/906, Count of Soissons and lay-abbot of Saint-Crepin, before 898-900/906, born about 850. HE MARRIED AN UNIDENTIFIED WIFE. They had one son, Heribert II [Count of Meaux, Soissons, and Vermandois] and one daughter, ___ (wife of Udo, Count of the Wetterau)." ----- Research by Friedrich R Wollmershhauser given to Sheldon Wimmer HERIBERT I. VERMANDOIS, g.ca. 850, 06.11.907 From the Karolinger House, his father Pippin was a grandson of King Bernhard of Italy. Heribert, which is detectable in the sources from 877, was 886/898 Count of Soissons And Lay abbot From Monastery of St. Crispinus In Soissons, 888/889 Count of Meaux And MadrieAnd during this time was together with the Archbishop Fulco Of Reims, one of the leaders of the aristocratic opposition against the new king Odo of Paris, the 888 – 898 the first Robertiner On the French Throne was. On 28 January 893, the anniversary of Charlemagne of the Great Death, crowned Heribert and Fulco Charles the Einfumby, the son Louis the Stammler To the Counter-King, a measure that only succeeded after Odo's death in 898, partly because Odo gradually The party supporters of Charles moved to his side, including finally Heribert, to whom he was the important county in 896 Vermandois Handed. Heribert, after acquiring the Vermandois, expanded his power into the Champagne Without being held accountable by the king. On June 28, 896, he killed the Count during clashes over Vermandois. Rodulfus From the House of Flanders Killed. Like Fulco von Reims, Heribert was commissioned by the Count on 6 November. Baldwin II. Of Flanders, an older brother of Rodulfus, murdered. Davon betroffen ist dann nicht nur die Ehe Berthas mit Heribert von Vermandois, sondern die Existenz Berthas überhaupt." Google transaltion: "However, since the studies by René Louis (1946), Daniel Misonne (1967) and Alain Dierkens (1985), the chronicle of Waulsort Abbey has been seen as A FIGMENT OF IMAGINATION, especially with regard to the genealogical table as constructed. This affects not only Bertha's marriage to Heribert von Vermandois, BUT BERTHA'S EXISTENCE IN GENERAL." !
