Flavia Major
\-Flavia Claudius THERA
- Birth: 273, Roma, Italy, Roman Empire
- Constantius Chlorus -family: Constantius put aside his wife Helena and married Theodora, the daughter, or perhaps stepdaughter, of Maximianus Herculius.. The union was fruitful and of it there were six issue: Flavius Dalmatius, Julius Constantius, Hannibalianus, Constantia, Anastasia, and Eutropia. To strengthen his bond with Galerius and Diocletian in the east, Constantius allowed Galerius to keep his son Constantine as a hostage for his good behavior.[[2]]
- LifeSketch: Encyclopedia of Roman Emperors - Theodora was the eldest daughter, or perhaps stepdaughter, of Maximianus Herculius and his wife Eutropia. In order to strengthen the dynastic relationship between himself and Herculius when Maximianus Herculius appointed him as his Caesar (junior emperor) in the west with the right of succession on 1 March 293, Constantius I put aside his wife Helena and married Theodora. She bore him six children: Flavius Dalmatius, Julius Constantius, Hannibalianus, Constantia, Anastasia, and Eutropia. Wikipedia - Flavia Maximiana Theodora, also known as Theodora, was a Roman Empress, wife of Constantius Chlorus. She is often referred to as a stepdaughter of Emperor Maximian by ancient sources, leading to claims by historians Otto Seeck and Ernest Stein that she was born from an earlier marriage between Eutropia, wife of Maximian, and Afranius Hannibalianus.[1] This man was consul in 292 and praetorian prefect under Diocletian. Timothy Barnes challenges this view stating that all "stepdaughter sources" derive their information from the partially unreliable work Kaisergeschichte (written in the 4th century), while more reliable sources refer Theodora as Maximian's natural daughter.[2] He concludes that she was born no later than c. 275 to an unnamed earlier wife of Maximian, possibly one of Hannibalianus' daughters.[3] In 293[citation needed], Theodora married Flavius Valerius Julius Constantius (later known as Constantius Chlorus), after he had divorced from his first wife, Helena, to strengthen his political position. The couple had six children: Flavius Dalmatius; Julius Constantius, father of Roman Emperor Julian and of the unnamed wife of Constantius II; Hannibalianus; Anastasia, who was to marry Bassianus; Flavia Julia Constantia, wife of Roman Emperor Licinius; Eutropia, mother of Nepotianus. Note: both sources agree that Maximian was the father of Flavia Maximianus Theodora. Eutropia would have been just 13 years old at the time of Theodora's birth. She did not marry Maximian until 380, 17 years after Theodora was born. And she married Afranius Hannibalinius first. Given Maximian's behavior and lustful proclivities, it is doubtful he fathered no children before his 30th birthday.....

- LifeSketch: Wikipedia Galla was the sister of the consul Neratius Cerealis and of the praetorian prefect Vulcacius Rufinus.[1] [Vulcacius Rufinus (died 368) was a Roman politician, related to the Constantinian dynasty. Biography of Vulcacius Rufinus A pagan, Rufinus was the brother of Neratius Cerealis, Galla (the mother of Constantius Gallus), and the mother of Maximus. He was pontifex maximus, consularis for Numidia, comes ordinis primi intra consistorium under the Emperor Constans I or his brother Constantius II, comes per Orientem, Aegypti et Mesopotamiae per easdem vice sacra iudicans from 5 April 342, praetorian prefect of Italy from 344 to 347 (between the prefectures of Fulvius Placidus and Ulpius Limenius), consul ordinarius prior in 347 with Flavius Eusebius, praetorian prefect of Illyricum between 347 and 352. While he was prefect, he was sent as an envoy by the usurper Magnentius, who had ousted Constans, to Constantius II, along with Marcellinus, Maximus and Nunechius. Rufinus was not arrested, unlike his companions, and kept the prefecture of Illyricum under Constantius. In 354, after the fall of Magnentius, he was praetorian prefect of Gaul, living in the capital Trier, but was replaced by Gaius Ceionius Rufius Volusianus Lampadius, perhaps because Rufinus was a relative of Constantius Gallus, when Gallus fell into disgrace with the Emperor. Between 365 and 368 he was the praetorian prefect for Italy and Africa, succeeding Claudius Mamertinus and of Gaul from 366 to 368. He died in service.] She married Julius Constantius, son of Constantius Chlorus and half-brother of Emperor Constantine I. From their union a son was born, who died with his father in the purges of 337,[2] a daughter who married his cousin Constantius II,[3] and finally Constantius Gallus, later Caesar of the East, born around 325.[4] It has been proposed that Galla and Julius had another daughter, born between 324 and 331 and married to Justus, father of Justina (wife of emperor Valentinian I), whose daughter (wife of emperor Theodosius I) was called Galla.[5] Galla died before her husband, as Gallus was then entrusted to the care of Eusebius, bishop of Nicomedia.[6]

- Birth: ABT 454, Roma, Roman Empire
- Occupation: Consul of Rome, Roma, Roman Empire
- Exiled twice as a result of rebellion against Zeno: Sent first to Caesaria in Cappadocia and then to Tarsus, Cilicia to become a monk. He escaped but was recaptured in Ancyra. Ultimately freed by Illus who appointed him Emperor, then deposed him in favor of Leontius, 479, Constantinople, Eastern Roman Empire
- LifeSketch: Wikipedia- Marcian (Latin: Flavius Marcianus; fl. 469–484 AD) was a member of the House of Leo and a usurper against Emperor Zeno in 479. Biography Marcian was a member of several Roman imperial families. His father was Procopius Anthemius, Western Roman Emperor between 467 and 472, who descended from Procopius, usurper in 365-366 against Emperor Valens and relative of Emperor Julian's (360-363). Marcian's mother was Marcia Euphemia,[1] daughter of Marcian (Eastern Roman Emperor in 450-457) with an unknown woman. Marcian had three brothers - Anthemiolus, who died in Gaul in 471, Procopius Anthemius and Romulus - and a sister, Alypia, wife of the Western magister militum Ricimer. To strengthen the bonds between the Western and Eastern Roman empires, Marcian married Leontia, daughter of the Eastern Roman Emperor Leo I and his wife Verina (the elder sister of Leontia's, Ariadne, had married the powerful general Zeno), and was chosen as consul without colleague twice, in 469 and 472. At the death of Leo I, his nephew Leo II, son of Zeno and Ariadne, succeeded him, but the young Emperor died that same year at the age of 7. Zeno, who had been proclaimed joint emperor with his son, became the only Eastern Roman Emperor, but his succession was not welcomed by many. The people of Constantinople, in fact, considered him a barbarian because of his Isaurian origin (he had even changed his original name, Tarasicodissa, to the Greek Zeno), while some preferred Marcian to him as his wife, Ariadne, was born while Leo I was an obscure soldier, while Leontia was born while Leo was Emperor. Zeno's power was challenged by Basiliscus, Verina's brother, who succeeded in overthrowing Zeno in 475 and held power for one year before Zeno took back the throne. In 479 Marcian tried to overthrow Zeno. With the help of his brothers Procopius Anthemius and Romulus, he gathered troops composed of both citizens and foreigners in the house of a Caesarius, south of the Forum of Theodosius in Constantinople, and from there they marched simultaneously on the Imperial palace and on the house of Illus, an Isaurian general who supported Zeno. The Emperor almost fell into the hands of the rebels, who, during the day, overwhelmed the imperial troops, who were attacked also by the citizens from the roofs of their houses. During the night, however, Illus brought an Isaurian unit quartered in nearby Chalcedonia into the city and corrupted Marcian's soldiers, who allowed Zeno to flee. On the following morning Marcian, understanding that his situation was desperate and that the reinforcements of the Gothic general Theodoric Strabo would not arrive in time, took refuge in the church of the Holy Apostles, but was arrested with his brothers. He was sent to Caesarea in Cappadocia with his brothers. With the help of some monks, he tried to escape, but, while his brothers succeeded, he was captured and obliged to become a monk in Tarsus (Cilicia),[2] or imprisoned in Isauria, in the fortress of Papurius. He tried to escape a second time, and this time he succeeded, but, after gathering new troops and attacking Ancyra, he was defeated and captured by Trocundus, Illus' brother. In 484 Illus organised a revolt against Zeno. As he did not want to take the purple for himself, he freed Marcian and proclaimed him Emperor. Illus freed Verina, too (Zeno had previously exiled her), but then decided to depose Marcian and elevate Leontius to the throne; Marcian was then sent to Italy to ask for Odoacer's help.

- Occupation: Tanner, Falaise, France
- LifeSketch: Fulbert of Falaise (fl. 11th century) was the father of Herleva, mother of the illegitimate William the Conqueror, the 11th-century Duke of Normandy and King of England. The Walter of Falaise named by Orderic Vitalis is likely a son. Fulbert has traditionally been held to be a tanner, based on translations of Orderic's additions to the Gesta Normannorum Ducum. He writes that during the siege of Alençon (1051-2), the natives had been mutilated by William after they called him a pelliciarius (pelterer), because his mother's kinsmen had been pollinctores (corpse preparers). One later poetic source interpreted the occupation to be that of tailor, but in part due to flawed transcripts of the original, many historians have concluded he was a tanner. Others have favoured a more literal reading, that Herleva's family had been undertakers or embalmers. Orderic also added to the Gesta that Fulbert served as the Duke's chamberlain (cubicularii ducis). It has been suggested that this occurred after William's birth. Perhaps linking Orderic's two additions, contemporary practice made the chamberlain one of the persons responsible for burials.

"By his first spouse, Gerberge, Fulk II had the following children: Adelaide-Blanche of Anjou; Geoffrey I, Count of Anjou; Bouchard, Count of Vendome; Guy of Anjou, Bishop of le Puy; and Humbert d'Anjou." [4] Children Confirmed by Henry Project Geoffroi d'Anjou, son of Foulques and Gerberge. Geoffroy I "Grisegonelle", d. 987, count of Anjou; m. (1) Adèle, living 6 March 974, daughter of Robert I, count of Troyes. m. (2) Adélaïde, living 999, widow of Lambert, count of Chalon. In a charter of 970, count Gaufridus mentions his father Fulco and mother Gerberga [1] Geoffrey I, Count of Anjou, married Adelaide of Vermandois.[2] [3] GEOFFROY d'Anjou ([938/40]-21 Jul 987, bur Châteauneuf, église Saint-Martin). [4] Guy d'Anjou, living 13 April 993, d. 8 February 994-6. He appears as abbot Wido, brother of count Geoffroy in a charter of 966. The Chronicle of Saint-Pierre du Puy mentions him as a brother of Geoffroy Grisegonelle and of countess Adélaïde, wife of Étienne. [1] Guy of Anjou, Bishop of le Puy.[2] [3] GUY d'Anjou (-before 995).[4] Adelais alias Blanche d. 1026; m. (1) Étienne de Brioude, fl. 936-957, d. prob. 970×5; m. (2) Raymond de Toulouse; m. (3) ca. 980, Louis V, d. 21 May 987, king of France, 986-7; m. (4) Guillaume I (or II), d. aft. 29 August 993, marquis of Provence. The Saint-Aubin genealogies give Fulco Bonus as the father of Blanca, mother of Constantia, wife of king Robert.[1] Adelaide-Blanche of Anjou, married five times.[2] [3] ADELAIS [Blanche] d'Anjou ([940/50]-[29 May 1026, bur Montmajour, near Arles]). [4] Probable Additional Daughter Adèle; m. Gautier I, count of Valois, Vexin, and Amiens. Gautier I of Valois/Vexin/Amiens and his wife Adèle had children Gautier II, Gui (bishop of Soissons), Raoul, Geoffroy, and Foulques. It is chronologically probable that Adèle was a daughter of Foulques II, a relationship which would also more easily explain the appearance of the name Geoffroy among the sons of Gautier I and Adèle. [1] Supposed Son, Existence Uncertain Drogo or Dreux, bishop of Puy. A supposed act of Dreux, bishop of Puy, dated September 994, mentions his parents Foulques and Gerberge and Guillaume count of Provence son of count Guillaume deceased and his sister Adélaïde. Gesta Consulum Andegavorum states that he was a son born to Foulques late in life, and was successor of his brother Gui as bishop of Puy. However, there was no bishop of Puy at this time. Foulques had a stepson of this name, Drogo, son of Foulques's second wife by her earlier marriage with Alain Barbetorte, some confusion seems possible here. [1] DREUX d'Anjou (-998), Drogo, Bishop of Le Puy. [4] Falsely Attributed Sons Bouchard de Vendôme, born Anjou, say 943. Bouchard "le Vieux", count of Paris, Corbeil, and Vendôme. Falsely attributed as a son of Foulques. [1] Bouchard, Count of Vendome.[2] [3] Humbert le Veneur. Falsely attributed as a son of Foulques. [1] Humbert d'Anjou, mentioned 957.[2] [3] from Wikitree https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Anjou-19 .

- Father: Gaius Octavius III of VELITRAE
- Mother: Aurelia COTTA
- Birth: 100 BC, Velitrae, Roma, Roman Republic
- Occupation: Roman Senator and Govenor of Macedonia
- Title Of Nobility: Roman Senator
- Death:: Campaigna, Italy
- LifeSketch: Wikipedia Gaius Octavius IV (about 100 – 59 BC) was a Roman politician. The Octavii, were wealthy townsmen from Velitrae, southeast of Rome, to which his father came only as an equestrian banker, though his grandfather was a senator. Gaius Octavius Gaius Octavius (about 100-59 BC) was an ancestor to the Roman Emperors of the Julio-Claudian dynasty. He is the father of the Emperor Augustus, step-grandfather of the Emperor Tiberius, great-grandfather of the Emperor Claudius, great-great grandfather of the Emperor Caligula, and great-great-great grandfather of the Emperor Nero. Hailing from Velitrae, he descended from an old, wealthy equestrian branch of the gens Octavia. Despite being from a wealthy family, his family was plebeian, rather than patrician. As a novus homo ("new man"), he would not be of a senatorial family. His grandfather, Gaius Octavius, fought as a military tribune in Sicily during the Second Punic War. His father Gaius Octavius was a municipal magistrate who lived to an advanced age. He is a distant relative (possibly as third cousins, through their ancestor Gnaeus Octavius Rufus) to Gnaeus Octavius, the consul of 87 BC who led the opposition to Lucius Cornelius Cinna. Personal life Octavius' first wife was named Ancharia. The two had a child (named Octavia Major). It is not known how the marriage ended, although it is possible that Ancharia died during child birth. He later married the niece of Julius Caesar, Atia Balba Caesonia. How they met is not known, although Atia's family on her father's side (the Balbi) lived close to Velitrae, which was the ancestral home of the Octavii. They had two children: Octavia Minor and the Emperor Augustus, the latter of whom was born in 63 BC. Political career Octavius was elected quaestor, believed to have been in 70 BC. In 61 BC, he was elected praetor. In 60 BC, after his term had ended, he was appointed proprietor, and was to serve as governor (praefectus pro praetor) of Macedonia. Before he left for Macedonia, the senate sent him to put down a slave rebellion at Thurii. These slaves had previously taken part in the rebellions of Spartacus and Catiline. He then left for Macedonia and proved a capable administrator, governing "courageously and justly", his deeds included leading the Roman forces to victory in an unexpected battle against the Thracian Bessian tribe. Cicero had high regard for his diplomatic dealings. Because of his successful term as governor of Macedonia, he won the support necessary to be elected consul. In 59 BC, Octavius sailed to Rome, to stand for election as consul. However, he died in Nola, before arriving in Rome. He supposedly died in the same bedroom where his son Augustus would pass away many years later. His career is summarized in an inscription erected by his son on the forum he built in Rome: “Gaius Octavius, son, grandson and great-grandson of Gaius, father of Augustus, twice military tribune, quaestor, aedile of the plebs together with Gaius Toranius, judge, praetor, proconsul, proclaimed imperator in the province of Macedonia”
- Praetor of Rome: Governor of Macedonia
- Title Of Nobility: IV
- Death: 59 BC, Nola, Naples, Roman Republic

- Father: Conrad I DE BURGUNDY
- Mother: Mathilde DE FRANCE
- Birth: 967, Dijon,21000,Côte-d'Or,Bourgogne-Franche-Comté,FRANCE,
- LifeSketch: Gerberga of Burgundy (c. 965/6-7 July 1018/9) was a member of the Elder House of Welf. She was married firstly to Herman I, count of Werl and secondly to Herman II, Duke of Swabia. «b»Life and Issue«/b» Gerberga was born in Arles. She was the daughter of King Conrad of Burgundy and his second wife, Matilda, daughter of Louis IV of France and Gerberga of Saxony. Her paternal aunt was Empress Adelaide. Through her mother, she was related to Louis IV of France, Emperor Otto I and Charlemagne. «b»First marriage«/b» Gerberga married her first husband, Herman I, Count of Werl, c.978. Herman of Werl died sometime between 985-988. With Herman of Werl, Gerberga had the following children: 1.) Herman II, count of Werl (c. 980-1025) 2.) Rudolf (or Liudolf) of Werl (c. 982/6-1044) 3.) Bernard I of Werl (c. 983-1027) «b»Second marriage«/b» Gerberga married Herman II, Duke of Swabia in 988. With Herman of Swabia, Gerberga had several children, including: 1.) Matilda of Swabia 2.) Gisela, who became Queen consort of Germany then Empress consort of the Holy Roman Empire. 3.) Herman III, who succeeded his father in 1003, but died young, in 1012. 4.) Berthold (992-993) 5.) Beatrice (?) (died after 25 February 1025),who was married to Adalbert of Eppenstein «b»Patronage«/b» In September 997 Otto III donated the estate of Stockhausen to the female monastery at Meschede at Gerberga's intervention. Stockhausen was located in the medieval district of Lochtrop, which was part of the county of Werl. In 997 the county of Werl was ruled by Gerberga's son from her first marriage, Herman II of Werl. The counts of Werl had long-standing connections with this monastery. Herman II's father, Herman I of Werl, was the advocate of Meschede. And one of his ancestors, also called Herman, likewise acted as advocate for Meschede in 913. Meschede may have been founded by Emhilids, one of Herman's ninth-century ancestors. In May 1000 Otto III issued a diploma taking the female monastery of Oedingen into his protection. The diploma records that Oedingen, which was located in the district of Lochtrop, in the county of Werl, had been founded by Gerberga, with the permission of her son, Herman II of Werl. In 1042 Gerberga's granddaughter, also called Gerberga (she was the daughter of Herman II of Werl), became abbess of Oedingen. «b»Death«/b» Gerberga died in Nordgau, Bavaria. A necrology entry indicates that she died on 7 July, probably in 1018 or 1019.

Gersuinda was a concubine of the emperor Charlemagne, with whom he was in a relationship after the death of his last legitimate wife, Luitgard (died June 4, 800). ************************************************* Gerswind is mentioned in Einhard's book Life of Charlemagne as "Gerswind, of Saxon family who gave birth to a daughter Adaltrud (...)". Nothing more is known about her.

=Karolus Magnus Rex FRANCORUM Marriage: 808
2 Adaltrude daughter of Karolus Magnus Rex Francorum Imperator ROMANORUM
- Father: Garibald I der Bajuwaren in BAIERN
- Mother: Waldrada of the Lombards
- Birth: ABT 558, Stammesherzogtum Baiern
- LifeSketch: No contemporary document mentions the name of his (Pippin der Ältere) parents, and the Vita Garitrudis abbatissae Nivialencis written in the seventh century only says that his origin is so illustrious that no one in Europe ignores the name and glory of his ancestors. In the tenth century, the Genealogia regum Francorum speaks of "Carloman, mayor of the Palace of Austrasia under Thibert II [596-612] and father of Pépin", then in the eleventh century, the Vita Pippini ducis simply said he was the son of a Carloman , without further details. Contemporary documentation does not confirm the existence of a mayor of the palace named Carloman at the beginning of the 7th century. Historians are divided on the very existence of Carloman, with some completely rejecting the information. But this mention of Carloman as Pepin's father in the Vita Pippini ducis makes no particular claim and seems to come from a source other than the Genealogia regum Francorum. In addition, at the birth of Charles Martel, the successor of Frédégaire, indicates that his father Pépin de Herstal named him with a name taken from his own language, that is to say from his mother tongue, which indicates that Charles's first name comes from his maternal family, so that of Pépin de Landen. As for her mother, she remains unknown to the various sources, both contemporary and later. However, one can notice in the close family of Pépin a certain number of carriers of first names agilolfinges. He is indeed brother of a Waldrade and father of a Grimoald and a Gertrude. As no document mentions Pépin as an Agilolfinge, the latter can only be allied to this family by women. Chronologically, the only agnatic link that accounts for this onomastic is that the mother of Pépin de Landen is a daughter of Garibald, first duke of Bavaria, and of his wife Waldrade, widow of kings Thibaut and Clotaire I.

- Also known as: Sigfred I König von Haithabu
- Title Of Nobility: Duchess of Westphalia
A predecessor kingdom to the kingdom of Norway was called Haithabu. The family ruling there starts with a group of 4 siblings: . Sigurd, 1st King of Haithabu (750-798) . Harald, 2nd King of Haithabu, b.750, k.a.in the Irish Sea 804) . Halfdan Mildi, King of Westfold (750-802) . Geva, b.755; m.ca 775 Duke Wittekind of Saxony (d.810)
