- LifeSketch: About Sir William Witchingham (Wychingham) Sir William de Wychingham, son of Richard de Wichingham, was lord in the 33d of Edward III.; he was bred to the law, of which he was a serjeant, and a judge of the Common-pleas in 1363; by his will proved March 25, 1381, he was buried in the south isle of Wichingham St. Mary's church, which he had built; gives legacies to Margaret his wife, (fn. 6) to Richer, Nicholas, and William, his sons, and to William [Clere] and Dionysia his wife, who was his daughter. That his wife's name was Margaret is certain; that she was Lady Margaret de Brewse is not. It is rather more likely that she was the daughter of one Roger or William de Rising or Woodrising, of merely local importance. St. Mary's church includes (or included) many armorial bearings and impalements, but that of de Brewse is not to be found. If his wife were a de Brewse, surely her family's blazon would have been prominently featured? [I]n the 18th of Edward III. John de Enepol and Joan his wife, Henry Broom of Reedham and Maud his wife, Thomas Pykel and Joan his wife, sold their right in this lordship, with lands, &c. to Wichingham St. Mary, and St. Faith's, to Will. de Witchingham, quit of the heirs of John, Maud, Joan, and Alice. http://apling.freeservers.com/Villages/WoodrisingBlomfield.htm view all Sir William Witchingham (Wychingham)'s Time William Witchingham (1328 - 1381) Privacy Level: Open (White) William Witchingham Born 1328 in Norfolk, , Englandmap Son of Roger Wychingham and Margaret De Antingham [sibling(s) unknown] Husband of Margaret (Braose) Witchingham — married [date unknown] [location unknown] DESCENDANTS descendants Father of Dionysia (Wychingham) Clere and Nicholas Wychingham Died 1381 in Norfolk, , Englandmap Profile manager: Tamara Killian private message [send private message] Profile last modified 30 Apr 2019 | Created 7 Jun 2011 This page has been accessed 1,723 times. - Also known as: Sir Knight Captain John Winter
- Also known as: Wynter
- Occupation: Captain John Wynter, Treasurer of the Navy or Treasurer of Marine Causes
- Title Of Nobility: Sir John Winter
- LifeSketch: --- John Winter Also Known As: "John Wynter" Birth circa 1500 Lydney, Gloucestershire, England, United Kingdom Died 1546 in Lydney, Gloucestershire, England, United Kingdom Immediate Family:Son of Robert Winter, II and Elizabeth Winter Husband of Alice Tyrell Father of George Winter; Agnes Wynter; Alice Winter; Elizabeth Winter; John Winter, II and 4 others CAPTAIN JOHN WINTER was born about 1500 of Gloucestershire, England, to Robert Winter (1475-1551) and Elizabeth Wyrrall (1470-1520.) He married Alice Tyrelll about 1526 of Llandofff, Glamorgan, Wales. John Winter died Dec. 1545 in Lydney, Gloucestershire, England, age 45. 1526 -- John Winter and Alice Tirry married at Llandorff, Glamorganshire, Wales. Alice Tirry (Tyrry, Terry) was a daughter of William Tirry or Terry of County Cork, Ireland. John and Alice had 11 children named in his will dated 1545. [3] Children [1] 1. Anne Winter (The First) born 1520 2. William Winter (Eldest) born 1528 in Wales 3. Anne Winter (The Third) 4. William Winter (Youngest) born ?? 5. George Winter born 1550 in Dyrham, Gloucestershire, England 6. Arthur Winter 7. Elizabeth Winter 8. Mary Winter 9. Ralph Winter 10. Alice Wynter born 1516 11. Agnes Winter born 1528 in Lidney, Gloucestershire, England 12. William Winter born 1534 in Tredegar, Monmouthshire, England Houses at Lydney, Gloucestershire, England John's house at Lydney may have been one which stood at the ancient market cross and was called the "White Cross" by John's son William. William also called the manor "White Cross" that he bought from William Herbert, earl of Pembroke, by an indenture dated 1561 under the name of Shrewsbury manor. In 1581 William Winter began building the second "White Cross." [1] Just outside the town of Lydney facing Chepstow is Whitestow School situated on the left side of the road. Near it is a small field with the remains of earthworks within the walls surrounding it which are the remains of the defences built during the Civil War by Sir John Winter to protect White Cross manor which stood in the field. Sir John Winter burned down the manor to prevent it from falling into Roundhead hands. In 1692, after the Restoration, Sir John Winter's widow, Lady Frances Winter built the Old Park House for Benjamin Bathurst of Kemble, youngest brother of Allen, 1st Earl of Bathurst of Cirencester. The Bathursts later demolished Old Park House and built Lydney Park on the ridge overlooking the site. [1] Naval Career When William Gonson died in 1544, King Henry VIII awarded the post of Paymaster of the Navy to John Winter of Lydney, merchant of Bristol, captain of one of the King's ships in the 1545 campaign of the Italian War of 1542 - 1546. King Henry VIII also made John Winter "Master of our Ordnances of our Ships." John Winter of Lydney died of a "burning fever" in December 1545. [1] Thomas Cromwell recommended John Winter to Sir William Fitzwilliam the Admiral. Cromwell, who had once been the Recorder of Bristol, knew Roger Winter of Huddington, probably a relative of John Winter, who had been a ward of Anthony Fitzpoyntz of Iron Acton, Gloucestershire in 1544. [1] Also, the Winters shared a common ancestry with Lord Admiral (1537 - 1547) John Dudley (1504 - 1553) as they both descended from the Paynels and Somerys. John Dudley was descended of Margaret Somery, wife of John Sutton de Dudley and the Winters from Amabil de Chaucomb and Tomas de Botetourt. [1] Death December 1545 -- John Winter died at Lydney, Gloucesetershire, England. [1] In his will dated 1545 John Winter left property in Deptford, Limehouse, Lydney, and Bristol. He left his son William a share in a ship called the "George" and the reversion of property at Lydney and Bristol. Nothing is known of what happened to the land at Deptford and Limehouse. A house at London was mentioned in Sir William's will, but it does not say to whom John Winter left it nor is there any information about houses at Deptford, Limehouse, or Bristol mentioned in John's father's will.[1] John’s house at Lydney may have been one which stood at the ancient market cross and was called the “White Cross” b John’s son William. William also called the manor “Wite Cross” that he bought from William Herbert, earl of Pembroke, by an indenture dated 1561 under the name of Shrewsbury manor. In 1581 William Winter began building the second “White Cross.” When John Wynter, b1495 Worcester Co England died in 1546, he was living in & owned the "Lydney Manor" in Lydney of Gloucester Co England. After his death the Manor became owned by his son William b 1534. John was a merchant and sea captain of Bristol and treasurer of the navy, who was friendly with Sir Thomas Cromwell. Lydney Harbour The Home of the Winters – Lydney, in Gloucestershire The large parish of Lydney (fn. 33) lay 21 km. southwest of Gloucester on the west bank of the river Severn. It contained the small town of Lydney with an adjoining village called Newerne, the village of Aylburton, and scattered farmsteads in the tithings of Purton, Nass, and Allaston. Aylburton developed separate institutions of parish government and assumed the status of a civil parish in the late 19th century, while remaining a chapelry of Lydney. Although Lydney had a market from 1268 and some inhabitants later held by burgage tenure, the town remained small and insignificant for much of its history. The parish was dominated by its landowners, particularly after the late 16th century when most of the land was formed into a large estate by the Winters, who were succeeded in possession by the Bathursts in 1723. Later the part of the parish based on the twin settlements of Lydney and Newerne was included in two manors, one held in demesne by the earls of Warwick and the other held from them by the Talbot family. The earls' manor, which became known as LYDNEY WARWICK, (fn. 58) was recorded from 1205, when during the minority of Henry, son of Earl Waleran, it was granted to Thomas Basset, (fn. 59) Henry's future father-in-law. It descended with the earldom of Warwick until the late 15th century. (fn. 60) In 1317 it was granted to Hugh Despenser the elder during the minority of Thomas de Beauchamp; (fn. 61) in 1397 on the forfeiture of a later Earl Thomas de Beauchamp it was granted to John de Montague, earl of Salisbury; (fn. 62) and Margaret, widow of the younger Thomas, held it in dower from 1401 to 1406. (fn. 63) In 1478 and 1486 it was in the hands of the Crown during the minority of Edward, heir of the attainted and executed George, duke of Clarence and earl of Warwick, (fn. 264) but in 1487 it was in possession of Anne, widow of Richard Neville, earl of Warwick. She granted it that year to the Crown. (fn. 65) The Crown retained Lydney Warwick manor (fn. 66) until 1547 when it granted it to Thomas Seymour, Lord Seymour, (fn. 67) who was attainted and executed in 1549. In 1550 the manor was granted to John Dudley, earl of Warwick, (fn. 68) who sold it in 1551 to Sir William Herbert, (fn. 69) created that year earl of Pembroke. Pembroke sold it in 1560 to William Winter, (fn. 70) with whose other Lydney estates it then descended. William Winter's father John Winter (d. 1546), a sea captain of Bristol and Deptford (Kent), owned a house at Lydney, (fn. 87) and William was described as late of Lydney in 1554 when he was pardoned for joining Wyatt's rebellion. (fn. 88) William, who was knighted in 1573 and was one of the commanders against the Armada in 1588, (fn. 89) added numerous estates in the parish to the two Lydney manors and was succeeded at his death in 1589 by his son Edward. (fn. 90) Edward, who also followed a naval career and was knighted in 1595, (fn. 91) was warden of the Forest and constable of St. Briavels 1601–8. (fn. 92) He died in 1619 and was succeeded by his son John, (fn. 93) who was knighted in 1624 and became secretary to Queen Henrietta Maria in 1638. In 1640, for a large sum of money, he had a grant in fee of the bulk of the royal demesne land of the Forest. (fn. 94) In the Civil War Sir John led the royalist forces in the Forest area, engaging in numerous skirmishes with the parliamentary garrison of Gloucester until driven from Lydney in 1645. (fn. 95) His estate was discharged from sequestration in 1647, (fn. 96) but in 1649 he was among 12 leading royalists condemmed to perpetual banishment and confiscation, and, failing to leave England, he was imprisoned in the Tower. (fn. 97) In 1651 or 1652 he bought the estate back from the commissioners for delinquents' lands, but to meet the resulting debts many farms in Purton, Nass, and the adjoining parish of Awre were sold to the tenants, and Sir John and his son and heir William also negotiated a long series of mortgages. In 1668, when a further large sale of lands in Awre and Allaston was made, (fn. 98) Sir John still had some rights in the estate (fn. 99) but he had evidently released them to William by 1674 when William made a will leaving an annuity to his father. (fn. 1) William Winter (d. by 1677) was succeeded by his brother (Sir) Charles (fn. 2) (d. 1698), who left the estate to his widow Frances. (fn. 3) Before 1714 she married Thomas Nevill but, continuing to style herself Dame Frances Winter, retained sole control of the estate. The estate was still subject to the earlier mortgages, part of the burden being cleared by the sale of lands in Aylburton in 1718. Dame Frances died in 1720, (fn. 4) and in 1723 her heirs and trustees sold the Lydney estate to Benjamin Bathurst, a son of Sir Benjamin Bathurst of Cirencester. (fn. 5) The Winter family were recusants at least from the time of Sir John, (fn. 11) who inherited the Lydney estate in 1619. Its presence encouraged the survival of a group of Catholics at Lydney: 20 were recorded there in 1676 Gloucestershire UK Glocestershire Landscape Gloucester Cathedral in Winter Gloucester cathedral, England Gloucestershire, England Will of John Wynter Posted 17 Jan 2013 by Franc1863 John

- LifeSketch: WILLIAM WYRRALL II was born about 1450 of Gloucestershire, England to William Wirrall (1400-) and and Jane Done (1411-.) He married Elizabeth Painton about 1460 of Gloucestershire, England. (My Heritage says he was born in 1435, which makes more sense, seeing that his father was born in 1400, and if he were indeed born in 1450 and married in 1460, did he marry at the age of 10?) William Wyrrall I died about 1481 of England, age 81. ELIZABETH PAINTON was born about 1455 of Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England, to unknown parents. She married William Wyrrall about 1460 of Gloucestershire, England. (Did she marry at the age of 5 years old? MyHeritage says she was born in 1440, which makes sense. She would then be 20 years old when she married) We do not know where Elizabeth died or when. Child of Mr. and Mrs. William Wyrrall: 1. *ELIZABETH WYRRALL (1470-1560) MD. WINTER +

- Father: Yehoshua III ben FABUS
- Mother: Unknown Spouse of Jeshua II Bem Fabus HASMONEAN
- Birth: ABT 55 BC, Israel
- Also known as: Elizabeth of Halisbert
- LifeSketch: https://www.sabbathcovenant.com/newdoctrine/ArrangedmarriagesofYahshuaIIIdaughters.htm NOTE: Elizabeth was betrothed to be the wife of a priest of a noted Zadok priestly lineage and from the line of Judah. Since Elizabeth was an heiress of the Zadok house of her father the High Priest Yahusha III and her husband was of the Tribe of Levi, her son, Prince John the Baptist, would be eligible to become the High Priest and King of Israel making him a potential candidate for Messiah. Yet, it was John’s role to become the chosen High Priest of YHVH and to transfer the sins of the Passover Lamb onto Yahusha as the fulfillment of Elijah. This is the reason many Jews of that time believed John to be The Messiah. John too was well known among the Jews living in Israel coming from royal descent and carefully cultivated lineage… while we are led to believe John was some "wild guy yelling at the top of his lungs" in the middle of nowhere and the masses just happen to "wander out to see him", actually he was very well known. The Jews knew he was a High Priest by blood and descendent of the Davidian Dynasty. That is why they came out to see and hear him. John was qualified by blood on both sides of Zadokite High Priest and Royal Davidian descent just like Yahusha the Messiah was, his cousin. They suspected he might be The Messiah. Prince John the Baptist (I'll explain why he was considered a Prince by law), however, knew he wasn’t the Messiah. In fact, Princess Miriam (I'll explain why she too was considered a Princess by law) was sent to live with her auntie Elizabeth (John’s mother) after being told by Angelic Decree that her son was The Messiah. Again while we are led to believe Yahseph (Joseph) “put her away silently” because he was embarrassed that she was with child and couldn’t explain it. That is not at all the truth. Yahseph put her away silently with Elizabeth (who was in protective custody) to protect her and his son from King Herod! During this time, Prince John was made intimately aware by his mother that the baby in his cousin Miriam’s womb was the prophesied Messiah by Angelic Decree. John would later learn from his father that his role was to pave the way for him as High Priest, mentor him, and as prophesied “make straight his path” as Elijah. More on this later. It would be Prince John the Baptist the grandson of Yahusha III the High Priest that would be heir to the office of the High Priest. This made John uniquely qualified (as The Zadokite High Priest in succession to Yahusha III) to Mikveh (consecrate) Yahusha the Messiah as the next High Priest in succession. Yahusha was the next male heir after John to Yahusha III.
