- LifeSketch: *Note did not sign the death warrant with the regicides, that list is known. However his brother did. See attached life history Also note that many sources were written when it was still questionable that he may be a regicide- many believed he was Edward Whaley before it was proven that his brother Edward, the regicide died in Hadley, Mass. There are also some sources who believe he was in Maryland, I do not believe this to be true. I think the Whaley there may have been his nephew John Whaley, but I have not deeply research that at this time. Name was originally "Whale". Martha (Whaley) married Joseph Hopkins, father of Samuel Hopkins, the father of Sarah Hopkins, the mother of Alice Albro, the mother of Beriah H. Lawton. Samuel Hopkins was a Judge. Theophilus Whaley is said to have been one of the three regicide judges of Charles I, who, at the Restoration in 1660, fled to America. He settled first in North Kingstown but spent his last years in West Greenwich on Hopkins Hill, with his daughter, Martha Hopkins. Their house, built in the first decade of the 18th century, no longer stands. Whaley died in 1720 at the age of 103; he was buried with military honors in Judge Samuel Hopkins’ cemetery. One of West Greenwich’s earliest settlers, Whaley was certainly its most infamous early inhabitant. The grave marker itself is not original; it dates from the 1920s. Martha (Whaley) married Joseph Hopkins, father of Samuel Hopkins, the father of Sarah Hopkins, the mother of Alice Albro, the mother of Beriah H. Lawton. findagrave.com Memorial # 71368848 Woodland Cemetery "Here were buried Theophilus Whale The singular goodman born in England about 1616. Died on this Hill about 1720 and his wife Elizabeth Mills of Virginia."

- LifeSketch: Richard of Screveton, and eldest son of Thomas, married Frances, daughter of Sir Henry Cromwell. He is described as a man of great " munificence and energy." He was member of parliament for Boroughbridge in the forty-third year of Elizabeth's reign (1602). He had three wives, as follows : 1st, Annie, daughter of George Horsley; 2d, Frances, daughter of Sir Henry Cromwell and the aunt of Oliver; 3d, Jane Stirap. Of these three Frances only had children. Dr. Stiles says of Richard Whaley, who married Frances Cromwell, Oliver's aunt, and was the father of Edward Whaley the regicide, that he was a man of great excellence of character as a Christian statesman, and that he possessed abilities equal to any enterprise and to the highest counsels of state, civil, political and military. He had much to do in shaping national events for twenty years in the great period of England's most turbulent and trying history from 1640 to 1660. from RootsWebWorld Connect (http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=pulverized&id=P2101)

- LifeSketch: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/White-255 Disputed Parents The parents of Robert White are unknown. However, there is a widespread error on the internet, confusing this Robert White with a different Robert White on the other side of England, son of Robert White of South Petherton, Somerset, whose alleged medieval ancestry is in turn the result of mistaken identity. Biography Robert White, was born perhaps around 1560 and was buried Messing, Essex, England, 17 Jun 1617.[1] He married, Shalford, Essex, England, 24 June 1585, probably as his second wife, Bridget Allgar.[2] [3] Bridget was baptized Shalford 11 Mar 1562, the daughter of William Allgar.[4] and Margaret Parye.[citation needed] A record of Bridget's death has not been discovered.[5] She is thought to have been the the woman referred to in the 9 Jun 1623 will of Nathaniel White of Feering, Essex, England.[6] Robert White lived for considerable time in the parish of Shalford and was quite wealthy. Sometime shortly before his death, he removed to Messing, Essex where some of his children had moved to. In his will, he gave to support the poor of Messing, and to Rev. Richard Rogers, a non-conformist minister, and Rev. Bartholomew Scrivener an established church minister. The children of Robert and Bridget (Allgar) White included New England immigrants Mary (White) Loomis, Elizabeth (White) Goodwin, Elder John White, & Anna (White) Porter. Birth Born: About 1560 (1555 to 1565), presumably in Essex, England. Estimated date based on marriage in 1585 and birth of wife in 1562. Marriage and Children Married: 1st - Unknown first wife before 1585. The primary heir and executor of the will of Robert White was his son Daniel. Since there are no gaps in the baptisms of children by Bridget Algar to allow for an adult son in 1617, it seems probable that Robert White had an unknown first wife who was the mother Daniel. Married: 2nd - Bridget Allgar on 24 June 1585 in Shalford, Essex, England. Child of Robert White and unknown first wife: 1. Daniel White. Born before 1585. His baptism has not been found. As the primary heir and executor of the will of his father, he was presumably the oldest son and certainly of age (>21) in 1617. His mother must have been by an unknown first wife of Robert White. Children of Robert White and Bridgett Allgar:[7] 1. Sarah White. Baptized 6 March 1585/6 in Shalford. Called eldest daughter in the will of her father. She married James Bowtell of "Little Saling." 2. Nathaniel White. Baptized "Laste date of April" 1587 in Shalford. 3. Mary White. Baptized 24 August 1590 in Shalford. She married Joseph Loomis of Braintree. They immigrated to New England. 4. Elizabeth White. Baptized "fyfte March, 1591/2" in Shalford. m. William "Godwyn of Bocking." They immigrated to New England. 5. Bridget White. Baptized 18 August 1594 in Shalford. m. "John Christmas" 6. John White. Born about 1597. Baptism not found but believed to have been born in the gap between Bridget and Anne. m. "Mary (Lev ?)it." They immigrated to New England. 7. Anne White. Baptized 13 July 1600 in Shalford. m. John Porter of Felstead. They immigrated to New England. Death Buried: 17 June 1617 in Messing, Essex, England. Will of "Robert White of Messinge ... yeorman," was dated 27 May 1617 Sources Footnotes and citations: ↑ Starr. When Robert W White was born on June 24, 1561, in South Petherton, Somerset, England, his father, Robert, was 19 and his mother, Alice, was 21. He married Bridget Allgar on June 24, 1585, in Shalford, Essex, England. They had 19 children in 30 years. He died on June 17, 1617, in his hometown at the age of 55, and was buried there. He was the 7th birth of 10 of which at least 3 siblings didn't live past a year of age. Robert may have been part of the heritage which said youngest sons should go to the clergy. His parents were well off, Lady Helen (Ellen) Kirton (Girton) of White of Hill Farrance, Somerset, England and Sir Richard White of Minot, Somerset, England. ---------------------- Robert married in 1685 to Lady Brygette Allgar (1562-1605). The youngest of her 8 children was Anna (Rosanna) White Porter. Though Robert and Lady Brygette White both died in England, they had a son and 3 daughters immigrate to Windsor Connecticut in the American Colonies. "Robert White was born in Essex, England, on Tuesday, June 24, 1561, and died in Essex in 1617. His name was also spelled Robert Whighte. He was buried in Shalford, Essex, on June 17, 1617. Bridget Allgar was baptized in Shalford, Essex, England, on Wednesday, March 11, 1562, and died in Shalford after June 24, 1605. They were married in Shalford on Thursday, June 24, 1585. She took the name Bridget White. She is the daughter of William and Margaret (Parye) Allgar. William Allgar of Shalford, Essex, England died in County Essex, England, in 1575. He was buried in Shalford on August 2, 1575. His wife was Margaret Parye of England." "Robert White was a yeoman; that is, he was not a member of the nobility but did own a small amount of land (small compared to a typical nobleman's estate). He was wealthy and appears to have lived in Shalford from his marriage until a few months before his death. Shalford is about two miles south of Wethersfield." "In his will, Robert White bequeathes 40 shillings to Mr. Richard Rogers, preacher of God's word at Withersfield in Essex. Therefore, it is likely that he was friendly to the non-conformists and attended some of their services. A like bequest to Bartholomew Scrivener, minister of the Church of God in Messing, implies that he was also interested in the established church (or was covering all of the bases). His bequest of 40s to the poor people of Messing and nothing to the poor of Shalford where he is supposed to have lived most of his life, opens the possibility that he was born in Messing." - THE BATTLE OF BUTTINGTON: The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle records that in 893 "Æthelred and ealdorman Æthelhelm and ealdorman Æthelnoth" besieged and later defeated the Danes "at Buttington on Severn shore", 893, Buttington, Montgomeryshire, Wales
- Title Of Nobility: Ealdorman of Wiltshire NOT PRINCE OF ENGLAND
- NOT THE SON OF KING ÆTHELRED: THIS AEthelhelm was an Ealdorman NOT A PRINCE, he was not the son of King AEthelred I. If he was, his daughter would not have been allowed to marry Edward the Elder, it would have been incest!!!
- LifeSketch: Æthelhelm, Ealdorman of Wiltshire. NOT THE SAME AS ÆTHELHELM, SON OF KING ÆTHELRED I Æthelhelm, Ealdorman of Wiltshire. Father of Ælfflæd , second wife of King Edward. Grand father of King Ælfweard of Wessex, Queen Eadgifu of West Francia, Queen Eadgyth of Germany as well other grandchildren. Æthelhelm's parentage is not known. Æthelhelm's daughter Ælfflæd married King Edward the Elder. Had Æthelhelm been the son of King Æthelred I then Ælfflæd and Edward would have been cousins, sharing the same grandfather, and would not have been allowed to marry. Other marriages of the time between 2nd and 3rd cousins were deemed incestuous and not allowed therefore it is certain that a marriage of this closeness would most certainly not have been tolerated. Æthelhelm the Ealdorman and Æthelhelm, Prince of Wessex were definitely contemporaries, alive at the same time and moving in the same circles. A grant from King Alfred makes it plain that the 2 men are not the same! The grant from Alfred to Ealdorman Æthelhelm makes no mention of the Ealdorman being his nephew, there is no reference to kinship between them at all. Additionally, it was not the practice of æthelings to become ealdormen, as princes of royal blood who were eligible to become king, they already held status in their own right, already held land in their own right. They did not need a special appointment to have power or hold land as they already had that privilege by being royal. In 893 Æthelhelm participated in the successful besiegement and defeat of the Danes at the Battle of Buttington. The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle records that in 893 "Æthelred and ealdorman Æthelhelm and ealdorman Æthelnoth" besieged and later defeated the Danes "at Buttington on Severn shore" According to the Anglo-Saxon historian Æthelweard writing nearly a hundred years later, "Hastein made a rush with a large force from Benfleet, and ravaged savagely through all the lands of the Mercians, until he and his men reached the borders of the Welsh; the army stationed then in the east of the country gave them support, and the Northumbrian one similarly. The famous Ealdorman Æthelhelm made open preparation with a cavalry force, and gave pursuit together with the western English army under the generalship of Æthelnoth. And King (sic) Æthelred of the Mercians was afterwards present with them, being at hand with a large army." This is in fact additional proof that Ealdorman Æthelhelm and Prince Æthelhelm were NOT the same person for the prince was not alive in 893 to participate in the battle. Prince Æthelhelm is believed to have he died about 890. The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle records the death of "Æthelhelm ealdorman of Wiltshire" in 897 "nine nights before midsummer" ( June 12, 897) --------------- A fictional character in the TV show 'The Last Kingdom' is based loosely upon the real Æthelhelm of Wiltshire, however, is not historically accurate. An example of this is that Æthelhelm never captured Uchtred of Bamburgh, they lived in entirely different centuries.
