- Father: Shapur I DE PERSE
- Mother: Kharanzim DE SEISTAN
- Birth: BET 228 AND 233, Baghdad, Iraq
- Also known as: Narseh Narses or Narseus
- Occupation: Governor of Hind, Sakastan and Turan, 262
- Title Of Nobility: Great King of Armenia
- Clan Name: House of Sasan
- LifeSketch: Narseh (also spelled Narses or Narseus; Middle Persian: 𐭭𐭥𐭮𐭧𐭩, New Persian: نرسه, Narsē), "Great King of Armenia", was the seventh Sasanian King of Kings of Iran from 293 to 303. The youngest son of Shapur I (r. 240–270), Narseh served as the governor of Sakastan, Hind and Turan under his father. Shapur I was eventually succeeded by his son Hormizd I (r. 270–271), who died after a reign of one year. Shapur I's eldest son Bahram I, who had never been considered as a candidate for succession to the throne by his father, ascended the throne with the aid of the powerful Zoroastrian priest Kartir. He then made a settlement with Narseh to give up his entitlement to the throne in return for the governorship of the important frontier province of Armenia, which was a persistent cause for war between the Roman and Sasanian Empires. Narseh held the title of Vazurg Šāh Arminān ("Great King of Armenia"), which was used by the heir to the throne in the early Sasanian times. Nevertheless, Narseh most likely still viewed Bahram I as a usurper. The succession of Bahram I's son, Bahram II (r. 274–293) seemingly occurred without any issues. However, after Bahram II's death in 293, the noble Wahnam had the latters son Bahram III unwillingly crowned. The nobility did not support Bahram III's kingship, and asked Narseh to rule instead. Ultimately, Bahram III abdicated as shah, while Wahnam was executed. Narseh's accession to the throne makes him the first Sasanian shah to not ascend the throne as a crown prince. The circumstances of Narseh's rise to power are detailed in the Paikuli inscription, which he made as his own Res Gestae Divi Augusti and to legitimize his rule. Three years after his accession, war erupted between the Sasanians and Romans once again. In the spring of 297, Narseh's forces inflicted a heavy defeat on the forces of Galerius. The following year, however, Narseh was to suffer a heavy defeat at Satala; his wives, children, and many Iranian nobles were taken as prisoners of war. Due to this ignominious defeat, Narseh was forced to accept a peace treaty prescribed by the Romans, ceding them several areas at the Sasanian-Roman border. Narseh is notable for returning to the religious tolerance policy of his father.

- Mother: Andia KOSMARTYDENE
- Birth: 485 BC
- Also known as: Ancient Greek: Παρύσατις
- Also known as: de Perse
- Title Of Nobility: Persian Queen, consort of Darius II
- LifeSketch: Parysatis was a powerful Persian Queen, consort of Darius II, and had a lot of influence during the reign of Artaxerxes II. She was the illegitimate daughter of Artaxerxes I, Emperor of Persia, and Andia of Babylon. She was the half-sister of Xerxes II, Sogdianus, and Darius II. She married her half-brother Darius II and had 13 sons, of which four survived to adulthood: Artaxerxes II, Cyrus the Younger, Ostanes, and Oxathres, and one daughter, Amestris. She was very powerful and had a network of spies and informants. Ctesias, who was her physician, mentions in his books how she would identify and order the execution of various people who were a threat to the throne. She was very savvy and succeeded in assisting Darius II's ascent to the throne, even though he was a bastard and not a legitimate child. Ctesias records that he was very dependent on her counsel. In addition, she is mentioned to have held a lot of land and villages in Syria, Media and Babylon, and a record of the taxes paid directly to her remained, as well as the servant who was in charge of managing her holdings and tax collections - Ea bullissu. Her favorite son was Cyrus, and it was on account of her influence that he was given supreme command in western Anatolia as a teenager in around 407 BC. When her husband died, she supported Cyrus. When Cyrus was defeated in the Battle of Cunaxa, she blamed the satrap Tissaphernes for his death, and thus had him assassinated a little later. According to the chapter on Artaxerxes II in "Plutarch's Life," a young Persian soldier named Mithridates unknowingly struck Cyrus the Younger during the Battle of Cunaxa, making him fall from his horse, dazed. Some eunuchs found Cyrus and tried to bring him to safety, but a Caunian among the king's camp followers struck a vein behind his knee with a dart, making him fall and strike his head on a stone, whereupon he died. Unwisely, Mithridates boasted of killing Cyrus in the court, and Parysatis had him executed by scaphism. She likewise got vengeance on Masabates, the king's eunuch, who had cut off Cyrus' hand and head, by winning him from her son Artaxerxes in a game of dice and having him flayed alive. Stateira was the wife of Artaxerxes II. Her brother, Terituchmes, loved one of his half-sisters more than his intended bride Amestris, Darius II and Parysatis's daughter. Terituchmes tried to start a rebellion, and Parysatis had all the family killed and spared only the life of Stateira at the request of her husband. After Artaxerxes II took control and Cryus's attempt to seize the throne failed, the queen mother Parysatis and queen consort Stateira both tried to be the key political influence on the king, making them bitter rivals. Reportedly, the intense hatred between the two women led Parysatis to encourage Artaxerxes II to take on concubines in order to hurt his wife. Stateira also publicly spoke up against the cruelties of the queen mother at the Persian court. For example, she criticized the brutal treatment of the eunuch Masabates, intensifying her conflict with Parysatis. Finally, Parysatis had Stateira murdered. Classical sources give different reasons for this deed. According to one version, Parysatis wanted to save the life of the Spartan commander Clearchus and his fellow-generals, who had been taken prisoner by Tissaphernes, but Stateira had succeeded in persuading her husband to execute the prisoners. Therefore, Parysatis is supposed to have poisoned Stateira. Plutarch, in his biography of Artaxerxes II, did not believe this story. According to another tradition, Parysatis murdered her daughter-in-law because she realized that her son only felt true love for his wife. Plutarch reports that Parysatis performed the assassination with the help of a loyal servant named Gigis. She carved a bird with a poisoned knife in such a way that only one half of the animal was mixed with the poison. This half was served to Stateira when they were dining together. The poisoned meal caused the painful death of Stateira. Artaxerxes was very angry and tried to capture Gigis, who was being hidden in Parysatis's quarters. Eventually, she was captured when she visited her family, and was executed. Parysatis was banished to Babylon, but returned afterwards to continue to provide advice and counsel to the king. She advised him to marry his daughters Amestris and Atossa to continue her influence over him, as they were less experienced in court.

Rodogune Achaemenid of PERSIA
\-Apame spouse of Artaxerxes II Memnon DE PERSE
- Father: Hormizd II of PERSIA
- Mother: Ifra-hormazd DE SEISTAN (KABOUL)
- Birth: 309, Iran
- Also known as: "Shabur Dhul-aktāf", "Zol 'Aktāf"
- Also known as: Shapur II ben Hormazd II
- Title Of Nobility: 10th Sasanian King of Kings (shahanshah) of Iran
- LifeSketch: Shapur II (Middle Persian: 𐭱𐭧𐭯𐭥𐭧𐭥𐭩 Šābuhr; New Persian: شاپور, Šāpur, 309 – 379), also known as Shapur the Great, was the tenth Sasanian King of Kings (Shahanshah) of Iran. The longest-reigning monarch in Iranian history, he reigned for the entirety of his 70-year life, from 309 to 379. He was the son of Hormizd II (r. 302–309). His reign saw the military resurgence of the country, and the expansion of its territory, which marked the start of the first Sasanian golden era. He is thus along with Shapur I, Kavad I and Khosrow I, regarded as one of the most illustrious Sasanian kings. His three direct successors, on the other hand, were less successful. At the age of 16, he launched enormously successful military campaigns against Arab insurrections and tribes who knew him as 'Dhū'l-Aktāf ("he who pierces shoulders"). Shapur II pursued a harsh religious policy. Under his reign, the collection of the Avesta, the sacred texts of Zoroastrianism, was completed, heresy and apostasy were punished, and Christians were persecuted. The latter was a reaction against the Christianization of the Roman Empire by Constantine the Great. Shapur II, like Shapur I, was amicable towards Jews, who lived in relative freedom and gained many advantages in his period (see also Rava). At the time of Shapur's death, the Sasanian Empire was stronger than ever, with its enemies to the east pacified and Armenia under Sasanian control.

- Birth: ABT 328, Baghdad, Iraq
- Also known as: Sapor III, Sabor III, Shapur III
- Title Of Nobility: 12th Sasanian King of Kings (shahanshah) of Iran
- Clan Name: House of Sasan
- LifeSketch: Shapur III (Middle Persian: 𐭱𐭧𐭯𐭥𐭧𐭥𐭩 Šābuhr), was the Sasanian King of Kings (shahanshah) of Iran from 383 to 388. He was the son of Shapur II (r. 309–379) and succeeded his uncle Ardashir II (r. 379–383). His reign was largely uneventful; to the west, the dispute over Armenia with the Romans continued, which was eventually settled through diplomacy, with the two empires agreeing to partition the area, with most of it remaining under Sasanian control. To the east, Shapur III lost control of the important mint city Kabul to the Alchon Huns. He is notable for having a rock relief carved at Taq-e Bostan, depicting a scene of him along with his father. He was the penultimate monarch to have a rock relief carved, the last one being Khosrow II (r. 590–628), who mimicked and magnified Shapur III's work. The king died in 388, after reigning for five years. He was crushed by the collapsing weight of his own tent, after some conspiring nobles had cut its ropes. His son Bahram IV succeeded him. Shapur III was the son of Shapur II (r. 309–379). In 379, Shapur II designated his half-brother Ardashir II as his successor on the condition that he would abdicate when his son reached adulthood. Ardashir II's reign lasted until 383, when he was killed or deposed by the Iranian nobility. The reason behind this was due to his continuation of Shapur II's policy of restricting the authority of power-hungry nobles. Shapur III then succeeded him; according to the narratives included in the history of al-Tabari (died 923), he was well received by his subjects due to the crown being given to an offspring of Shapur II. Shapur III declared to them in his accession speech, that he would not allow deceit, greed or self-righteousness at his court. However, to the nobility this was unacceptable. Armenia had been constantly the source of war between the Roman and Sasanian Empires. In 378/9, Shapur II had achieved Iranian hegemony over the country after its regent Manuel Mamikonian submitted to him. A force 10,000 of Iranian soldiers led by general Surena were dispatched to Armenia. Surena was given the title of marzban (margrave), which indicates that Armenia was now a Sasanian province. Under Ardashir II, however, Manuel rebelled and succeeded in maintaining independence against both the Iranians and Romans in the early 380s. However, just before his death in 385/386, he seemingly placed Armenia under Roman protection. With his death, many Armenian nakharars (grandees) revolted against the Arsacid king Arshak III (r. 378–387) and appealed to Shapur III for another king. Shapur III responded by crowning Khosrov IV as king, and gave him his sister Zurvandukht in marriage. He then sent an invasion force into Armenia, which occupied most of the country. Arshak III was forced to withdraw to the western region of Acilisene, where he awaited Roman reinforcements. Instead of declaring war, Iran and Rome agreed to come to terms through diplomacy. An agreement was made to partition Armenia. The boundary stretched through Theodosiopolis in the north and Amida in the south, which meant that most of Armenia remained in Sasanian hands, including the two Arsacid capitals of Artaxata and Dvin. With this treaty, the Romans also fully acknowledged Iranian hegemony over all of Iberia. When this treaty exactly took place is unsure; most scholars believe the treaty was made in 387, whilst a few others state 384 or even in 389 or 390. Both sides were to cooperate in the defense of the Caucasus, with the Romans agreeing to pay the Iranians roughly 500 lbs (226 kg) of gold at irregular intervals. While the Romans saw this payment as political allocations, the Iranians saw it as tribute. In order to further reduce the political and economic power of Iranian Armenia, Shapur III deprived the country of several of its provinces; Artsakh, Utik, Shakashen, Gardman and Kolt were given to Caucasian Albania (ruled by a collateral line of the Arsacids); Gugark (ruled by the Mihranids) became subject to Iberia; and Arzanene (ruled by a bidaxsh, i.e. margrave), Paytakaran, Korjayk (Corduene) and Parskahayk were incorporated into Iran. Arshak III soon died, which made the Romans abolish their branch of the Arsacid monarchy and create the province of Western Armenia. As a result many of the nakharars who had followed him subsequently rejoined the Iranians. The Arsacid monarchy in Iranian Armenia continued to last for a few decades, until its abolishment by king Bahram V (r. 420–438) in 428. Shapur III's religious tolerance towards the Christians is reported by the historians Elishe and John of Ephesus. According to the former, Shapur III granted the Armenians lavish gifts and exempted their Church from royal taxation. Besides the dispute over Armenia, Shapur III seems to have clashed with the Alchon Huns to the east; coinage indicates that the Alchon Huns seized Kabul from him sometime before 388. They duplicated the same coin mints issued by Shapur III, with the only difference being the newly added Bactrian inscription "αλχοννο" (alxanno), added to display their takeover of Sasanian territory. The loss of the city was a major blow, as it had been a center of coin manufacture since the 360s. Shapur III died in 388, after reigning for five years. He died when some nobles cut the ropes of a large tent that he had erected in one of his palace courts, so that the tent fell on top of him. He was succeeded by his son Bahram IV. Another of his sons, Yazdegerd I, later succeeded Bahram IV in 399

- Mother: Shushandukht HA-NATHAN
- Birth: 391
- Also known as: Šāhpuhr
- Title Of Nobility: King of Sasanian Armenia
- Clan Name: House of Sasan
- LifeSketch: Shapur IV (Middle Persian: 𐭱𐭧𐭯𐭥𐭧𐭥𐭩 Šāhpuhr), was king of Sasanian Armenia from 415 to 420, who briefly ruled the Sasanian Empire in 420. Shapur IV was the son of Yazdegerd I and Shushandukht, and had two brothers named Bahram V and Narse. At the death of the Arsacid Armenian king Khosrov IV, Yazdegerd I decided to give the royal crown of Armenia to his eldest son Shapur IV, instead of giving it to Khosrov's nephew, Artaxias IV. During Shapur's reign in Armenia, he concentrated on reconciliation and established friendly relations with the nobles. He made every effort to convert the Christian Armenians to Zoroastrianism, but was largely unsuccessful. In 420, Yazdegerd I was murdered by the Sasanian nobles at Hyrcania, which made Shapur quickly leave Armenia and arrive at Ctesiphon to claim the Sasanian throne. However, he only managed to reign during a short time, until he was murdered by the nobles and the clergy, who sought to expel all the sons of Yazdegerd I. After the murder of Shapur, the nobles elected another Sasanian prince, Khosrau, the son of Bahram IV, as king of the Sasanian Empire.

- Father: Achaimenes HAKHAMANI Konge Av Persia
- Birth: 656 BC
- Also known as: His name probably is Iranian, but its etymology is unknown. Its connection with either the name of the Mitannian and Urartu storm god Tešup-Theispas, or with the Elamite byname 𒍝𒆜𒉿𒆜𒅆𒅀 (Zaišpîšiya) is likely.
- Also known as: from Greek: Τεΐσπης
- Also known as: Old Persian: 𐎨𐎡𐏁𐎱𐎡𐏁, Cišpiš
- Title Of Nobility: King of Persia
- He is named only in Darius’s own genealogy and in its somewhat longer: counterpart by Herodotus.
- Herodotus mentioned two different persons of this name, one being Achaemenes’ son and Cambyses’ father and the other being Ariaramnes’ father and Cyrus’s son.: (Date and Place unknown)
- House: Achaemenid: (Date and Place unknown)
- LifeSketch: Teïspes was the son of Achaemenes of Persis and an ancestor of Cyrus the Great. There is evidence that Cyrus I and Ariaramnes were both his sons. Cyrus I is the grandfather of Cyrus the Great, whereas Ariaramnes is great grandfather of Darius the Great. According to 7th-century BC documents, Teispes captured the Elamite city of Anshan, speculated to have occurred after the Persians were freed from Median supremacy, and expanded his small kingdom. His kingdom was, however, a vassal state of the Neo-Assyrian Empire. He was succeeded by his second son, Cyrus I. -- Wikiwand: Teispes

- LifeSketch: Ahasuerus: (lion-king), the name of one Median & 2 Persian kings mentioned in the Old Testament. 1. In Da 9:1 Ahasuerus is sd. to be the father Darius the Mede. [DARIUS] This 1st. Ahasuerus is Cyaxares, the conqueror of Nineveh. (Began to reign B.C. 634.) 2. The Ahasuerus king of Persia, referred to in Ezr 4:6 must be Cambyses, thought to be Cyrus' successor, & perhaps his son. (B.C. 529.) 3. The 3rd. is the Ahasuerus of the book of Esther. This Ahasuerus is probably Xerxes of history, Es 1:1 (B.C. 485), & this conclusion is fortified by the resemblance of character and by certain chronological indications, the account of his life & character agreeing with the book of Esther In the 3rd. yr. of Ahaseuerus was held a great feast & assembly in Shushan the palace, Es 1:3 following a council held to consider the invasion of Greece. He divorced his queen Vashti for refusing to appear in public at this banquet, & marr., 4 yrs. afterw.s, the Jewess Esther, cousin & ward of Mordecai. Five yrs. after this, Haman, one of his counsellors, having been slighted by Mordecai, prevailed upon the king to order the destruction of all the Jews in the empire. But bef. the day appointed for the massacre, Esther & Mordecai influenced the king to put Haman to death & to give the Jews the right of self-Defence. Xerxes is the most familiar from based on the Greek form and made most well known by the ancient Greek historian, Heroditus, who recorded much of what we know of the man and his times. - Serse is a Latinized form of Xerxes and is most familiar to lovers of good music based on Georg Frederic Handel's Opera "Serse" composed from 1737-1738. (This maj. opera goes by both "Xerxes" and "Serse" - & please note that Xerxes is sung by a soprano, an 18th cent. way of depicting young men). Xerxes was a colorful character known for his irrational behavior. Some examples: - when a bridge collapsed due to a raging storm, he ordered the builders executed & the river whipped for daring to destroy his bridge. - Aft. a father pleaded with him to leave one of his 5 sons at home with him rather than take all five into battle, Xerxes had the son in question killed. That was how he told the father his son could stay home with him. - In Handel's Opera, the lovely opening aria "Ombra ma fu" (also kn. as "Largo from Xerxes") is actually King Xerxes singing a love song to a plane tree. -on the eve of the great naval battle of Salamis, Xerxes consulted an oracle who predicted that a great navy would be defeated. Little did Xerxes know that the navy was his. -Xerxes was assassinated ca. 464 BC, & was succeeded by his son, Artaxerxes (the Justice of Xerxes), who is mentioned in the books of Ezra and Nehemiah.

- Father: Bahram V GOR 17th Sasanian King of Persia
- Mother: Sapinud GUPTA
- Birth: 418, Babylonia
- Also known as: King Yazdagrid Sassani II
- Also known as: King Yazdegerd II Istijerdes
- Also known as: Yazdegerd II , Yazdgerd II
- Title Of Nobility: 18th Sasanian King of Kings (shahanshah) of Iran
- LifeSketch: Yazdegerd II (also spelled Yazdgerd and Yazdgird; Middle Persian: 𐭩𐭦𐭣𐭪𐭥𐭲𐭩), was the Sasanian King of Kings (shahanshah) of Iran from 438 to 457. He was the successor and son of Bahram V (r. 420–438). His reign was marked by wars against the Eastern Roman Empire in the west and the Kidarites in the east, as well as by his efforts and attempts to strengthen royal centralisation in the bureaucracy by imposing Zoroastrianism on the non-Zoroastrians within the country, namely the Christians. This backfired in Armenia, culminating in a large-scale rebellion led by the military leader Vardan Mamikonian, who was ultimately defeated and killed at the Battle of Avarayr in 451. Nevertheless, religious freedom was subsequently allowed in the country. Yazdegerd II was the first Sasanian ruler to assume the title of kay ("king"), which evidently associates him and the dynasty to the mythical Kayanian dynasty commemorated in the Avesta. His death led to a dynastic struggle between his two sons Hormizd III and Peroz I for the throne, with the latter emerging victorious.

- Father: Shapur III of PERSIA
- Mother: Tihe-He BINT VASMANA of Shan-Shan
- Birth: ABT 350, Baghdād, Iraq
- Also known as: Yazdegerd I "the Wicked" Sassani
- Also known as: King Yazdagrid I of Persia
- Also known as: Yazdgrid, Yazdagerd I
- Title Of Nobility: 14th Sasanian King of Kings (shahanshah) of Iran
- LifeSketch: Yazdegerd I (also spelled Yazdgerd and Yazdgird; Middle Persian: 𐭩𐭦𐭣𐭪𐭥𐭲𐭩) was the Sasanian King of Kings (shahanshah) of Iran from 399 to 420. A son of Shapur III (r. 383–388), he succeeded his brother Bahram IV (r. 388–399) after the latter's assassination. Yazdegerd I's largely-uneventful reign is seen in Sasanian history as a period of renewal. Although he was periodically known as "the Sinner" in native sources, Yazdegerd was more competent than his recent predecessors. He enjoyed cordial relations with the Eastern Roman Empire and was entrusted by Arcadius with the guardianship of the latter's son Theodosius. Yazdegerd I is known for his friendly relations with Jews and the Christians of the Church of the East, which he acknowledged in 410. Because of this, he was praised by Jews and Christians as the new Cyrus the Great (r. 550 – 530 BC, king of the Iranian Achaemenid Empire who liberated the Jews from captivity in Babylon). The king's religious, peaceful policies were disliked by the nobility and Zoroastrian clergy, whose power and influence he strove to curb. This eventually backfired, and Yazdegerd I met his end at the hands of the nobility in the remote northeast. The nobles then sought to stop Yazdegerd's sons from ascending the throne; his eldest son, Shapur IV, was quickly killed after his accession and replaced with Khosrow. Another son, Bahram V, hurried to the Sasanian capital of Ctesiphon with an Arab army and pressured the nobility to acknowledge him as shah.
- Death: Mashhad, Khorasan-e Razavi, Iran

- Mother: Blood DE LOMBARDIE
- Birth: 495, Cologne, Kingdom of the Salian Franks, Gaul, Frankish Empire
- Also known as: Xxx Munderic Lord of VITREY
- Clan Name: House of Merovingian
- Title Of Nobility: Lord of Vitry-en-Perthois
- LifeSketch: PRETENDER TO THE THRONE OF AUSTRASIA Wikipedia Munderic (died 532/33) was a Merovingian claimant to the Frankish throne. He was a wealthy nobleman and landowner with vast estates in the region around Vitry-le-Brûle (now Vitry-en-Perthois) near Châlons-sur-Marne. He married a daughter of Florentinus (born 485), a Roman senator, and his wife Artemia, daughter of Rusticus of Lyons. They were the parents of Gondulphus of Tongeren and Mummolin, possibly mayor of the palace of Neustria.[citation needed] In 532 or 533 or around that year he put forth a claim to royal descent as being or claiming to be a son of Chlodoric the Parricide and asked for a share of the kingdom of Austrasia from Theuderic I. He had a band of sworn followers. Theuderic attempted to summon him to court in order to kill him, but after Munderic refused, a force was sent against him. The pretender took refuge with his loyal supporters in Vitry. The Austrasian army, however, lacked siege engines and were unable to invest the place. Theuderic responded by sending a personal courtier of his, Arigisel, to negotiate for the rebels to come out, which they did. The dishonest ambassador had them cut down immediately. ___________________________________________________ CLODERIC the Parracide, Merovingian King of Cologne (509) Born 473 AD – Murdered 509 at Cologne He was killed by agents of King Clovis I who had encouraged Cloderic to murder his father Sigebert, for which crime Clovis had him killed. - Father: Ranulph DE PEVERELL
- Birth: ABT 1045, France
- LifeSketch: RANULF Peverel of Hatfield, Essex (-after 1085). Domesday Book records “Ranulph Peverel” holding Ewelme in Oxfordshire; numerous properties in Essex[311]. m [INGELRICA, daughter of INGELRIC & his wife ---] (-[1100]). Dugdale records that Ingelrica, wife of Ranulf Peverell "who had been mistress to King William the Conqueror…is stated to have founded…in the time of King William Rufus a college of secular canons dedicated to St Mary Magdalen" at Hatfield Peverell which she entered and stayed until her death "about the year 1100"[312]. He does not reproduce the primary source which provides the basis for this information. Eyton says that, according to Dugdale, her relationship with William (then Duke of Normandy) predated her marriage and that Duke William was the father of her son William Peverel[313]. The primary source which confirms her parentage and marriage has not yet been identified. Ranulf & his wife had [three] children: a) WILLIAM Peverel m ADELINE, daughter of ---. b) ROBERT Peverel (-after 1103). Henry I King of England confirmed the donation of the church of Lenton to Cluny, by charter dated to [1103/14], which records “Willelmo Peverello cum uxore sua Adaleida et filio suo Willelmo” as founders of the church and is subscribed by “…Roberti fratris Willelmi Pevrelli…”[346]. c) [RANULF Peverel (-after 27 Jan 1091). "…Ranulfus Peverellis…" witnessed the charter dated 27 Jan 1091 under which William II King of England confirmed the status of Bath abbey[347]. Assuming that the dates attributed to William, son of Ranulf Peverel, are correct as shown above, it is unlikely that Ranulf who witnessed this charter was William’s father. It is assumed therefore that he was another younger brother of William who is unrecorded elsewhere.] http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/enguntps.htm#_Toc21095948

- LifeSketch: Philadelphus in Greek: (Brother-Loving). He extended his power by skillful diplomacy developed the agriculture and commerce, and made Alexandria a leading center of the art and sciences. Raining at first with his father he became so ruler in 283 to 282 and purging his family of possible rivals. This the diagnostic strife lead also to the banishment of his first wife, Arsinoe I, daughter of King Lysimachus of Thrace. Ptolemy then married his sister, Arsinoe II, an event that shocked Greek public opinion but was Was celebrated by the Alexandrian Court poet. Taking advantage of the difficulties of the rival kingdoms of the Seleucids and Antigonids, Ptolemy II Extended his role in Syria, Asia minor, and the Aegean at their expense and asserted at the same time his influence in Ethiopia, and Arabia. Egyptian embassies to Rome as well as to India reflect the wide range of Ptolemy’s political and commercial interests. Ptolemy II Philadelphus (Greek: Πτολεμαῖος Φιλάδελφος, Ptolemaios Philadelphos "Ptolemy, friend of his siblings"; 308/9 – 28 January 246 BC) was the pharaoh of Ptolemaic Egypt from 283 to 246 BC. He was the son of Ptolemy I Soter, the Macedonian Greek general of Alexander the Great who founded the Ptolemaic Kingdom after the death of Alexander, and queen Berenice I, originally from Macedon in northern Greece. During Ptolemy II's reign, the material and literary splendour of the Alexandrian court was at its height. He promoted the Museum and Library of Alexandria. In addition to Egypt, Ptolemy's empire encompassed much of the Aegean and Levant. He pursued an aggressive and expansionist foreign policy with mixed success. From 275-271 BC, he led the Ptolemaic Kingdom against the rival Seleucid Empire in the First Syrian War and extended Ptolemaic power into Cilicia and Caria, but lost control of Cyrenaica after the defection of his half-brother Magas. In the Chremonidean War (c. 267-261 BC), Ptolemy confronted Antigonid Macedonia for control of the Aegean and suffered serious setbacks. This was followed by a Second Syrian War (260-253 BC) against the Seleucid empire, in which many of the gains from the first war were lost.

- Occupation: Propraetor of Syria, 61 BC, Roma, Roman Republic
- LifeSketch: Wikipedia Lucius Marcius Philippus Spouse(s) Atia Children Marcia Lucius Marcius Philippus Quintus Marcius Philippus Parent(s) Lucius Marcius Philippus (father) Lucius Marcius Philippus (flourished 1st century BC) was a member of a Roman senatorial family. He claimed descent from Roman King Ancus Marcius and was the son of the consul and censor Lucius Marcius Philippus. Appian (Syrian Wars 8.51) records that he was propraetor of Syria in 61 BC. He was the father in-law of Cato the Younger and step-father of emperor Augustus. Biography First marriage He had at least three children: two sons, Lucius Marcius Philippus (who later married his step-mother's sister Atia), Quintus Marcius Philippus (proconsul of Cilicia in 47 BC)[1][2][3] and one daughter, Marcia, who later became the wife of Cato the Younger. Second marriage In 59 he married Atia Balba Caesonia, niece of Julius Caesar. Atia's previous husband, Gaius Octavius, had died on his return to Rome, leaving her with two children: Octavia Minor and Gaius Octavius (future Roman Emperor Augustus). Philippus cherished his stepchildren as if they were his own. He was consul of 56 BC with Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus Marcellinus. Despite his marriage ties with Caesar, Philippus did not take his side in Caesar's civil war with Pompey, passing anti-Caesar legislation in the Senate. Because of this, Philippus was not given a province to govern for the year. Sensing the threat implicit in this snub, Philippus requested that Caesar allow him to sit out the war, to remain in Italy for the duration. Caesar obliged, thankful that he had not gained an enemy, even if he had not gained a supporter. Philippus became a close friend of Cicero, who also waited out the war. The desire of Philippus to avoid conflict is evident at all times of his life. When his stepson Octavius was named Caesar's heir, Philippus attempted to dissuade him from accepting his inheritance because of the danger from Marc Antony. He enlisted Atia to try her hand at convincing the young man to decline, but it was no use. Although he opposed Antony, Philippus took part in the delegation sent to him at Mutina, and returned his demands to the senate. Cicero chided Philippus for this. Atia died during August/September 43 BC and according to Ovid claims that Philippus later married one of Atia's sisters, but this is generally considered a mistake, the Philippus that married Atia's sister was in fact his son, the consul suffectus in 38 BC. The elder Philippus lived to old age and Augustus rewarded him for his continued loyalty.
- Death: AFT 61 BC, Roman Republic
