Argotta of the Sicambri, Princess of the East = Pharamond, 1st King of all the Franks ____________________________________________________ King Marcomer IV (?-169) of the Franks, founded the city of Marburg, Germany, married Princess Athildis of Camulod (?-?), elder sister of King Lleiffer Mawr (or Lucius) of Britain There are three legends concerning the ancient Merovingian dynasty: 1.) That their Sicambrian roots stretch back to the lost Hebrew tribe of Benjamin, which fled Israel following a civil war and voyaged to Greece where they become intermarried with the princes of Arcadia and supposedly helped found ancient Troy. At about the time of the Roman conquest of Greece, these "Benjaminites" journeyed north to the mouth of the Danube River on the Black Sea and eventually followed it west to ancient Gaul along the way absorbing into their ranks smaller Germanic groups. 2.) Through marriages with Visigoth nobility from southern France and Spain they descend from the Desposyni (descendants of the relatives the Christ family) that fled the Holy Lands following the crucifixion and settled in south France. 3.) That the royal line possessed magical powers and were more priest-kings than political rulers. These magical powers were centered in their long hair like Samson of the Bible, which they never cut leading to the name "the long haired kings." When Pepin "the Short" deposed the last of the Merovingian kings with the help of the Pope, he refuses to have "holy blood" on his hands and instead had the king's head shaven and then had him locked away in a monastery for the rest of his life. It is an interesting fact to note that Pepin tried to lend legitimacy to his usurping of the Frankish throne by marrying a Merovingian descendant, Countess Bertha "Big Foot." from http://osdir.com/ml/culture.templar.rosemont/2003-04/msg00154.html Read more at Geni.com on sources below. -- King Marcomir IV Mangus of The Salain Franks & Gaul King Marcomir IV of the Franks 0080 – 0149 https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LDC4-N5H http://www.avocadoridge.com/carney/getperson.php?personID=I6725&tree=tree1 https://www.geni.com/people/Marcomir-IV-King-of-the-Franks-Fictitious-Person/6000000003645688544 http://familytrees.genopro.com/Azrael/2243819/Mangus-MarcomirIV-I1095.htm https://syntropy.site/line-to-adam/ https://www.genealogieonline.nl/en/stamboom-homs/I6000000003645688544.php Princess Althildis (Of Camulod) Ferch Coel of the Britons Althildis Of The TRINOVANTES, Princess of the Britains Athildis verch Coilus Queen Atheldis of the Franks Princess of Britain 0092 – 0156 https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LXLH-56P https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LD23-KK2 https://www.geni.com/people/Athildis-verch-Coilus-Fictitious-Person/6000000012720194653 http://familytrees.genopro.com/Azrael/2243819/FerchCoel-Althildis-I1096.htm https://www.genealogieonline.nl/en/stamboom-homs/I6000000012720194653.php http://www.avocadoridge.com/carney/getperson.php?personID=I6736&tree=tree1

- LifeSketch: THE HEAVENLY KINGDOM OF THE HOLY GRAIL. PART III. THE HISTORY OF TITUREL. The fairest of old men ancient whom ever his eyes had seen, Grey was he as mists of morning. Parzifal, by JESSIE WESTON. And the Grail, it chooseth strictly, a: its Knights must be chaste and pure. To the founding of the Palace Spiritual, and to Titurel, the noble ancestor of the Grail-Kings, our attention must now be turned. Many and varied are the versions which may be found of the history of this Grail-Race, and each interpretation of its traditional history differs according to the writer's sympathy with and comprehension of the mystical history of the human family. Few and far between are those clear-sighted critics who recognize, in this fascinating tradition of Oriental generation, a link which relates the outer life of man to its hidden basis, and sets forth the type of an ideal life which had its inception on this earth when the "Sons of God" still trod its paths, and the "Children of the Fire-mist" had not withdrawn from the outer world, but yet dwelt among the children of men. From the despised mental dust-bins of the "Dark Middle Ages"—as they are termed—precious gems of rarest literary worth are being disinterred, of quality so pure, with richness so wondrous, that the geniuses of the 19th century show poor and forlorn when measured by the power and mental strength of their predecessors of that despised time. No peers are the modern poets of those noble singers who created the chivalric virtues in the hearts of the men and women of their time, and who sent their burning words ringing through the centuries fraught with love ideals both pure and true, and religious fervour at once self-sacrificing and humble. Their ideals of noble manhood and pure womanhood are still the ideals of the present time, for the "Legend of the Holy Grail" is yet potent, nor can time destroy its "infinite variety." Titurel, the Perfected One, who like a flying star led on the gray-haired Wisdom of the East, is in modern days deemed to be but the poetical creation of a more than usually fertile-brained troubadour of the Middle Ages; but it is the chronicle of this first spotless Grail-King which must now be studied, for he was the type of the model ruler, pure in life, just in action, living for his people, with his heart set on a higher kingdom than his earthly realm. The most detailed description of the descent and genealogy of Titurel that we can briefly summarize is given by a group of German authors * in a careful and laborious study of the "Jüngere," † which runs as follows: Among the princes who gathered round Vespasian at the siege of Jerusalem were Sennabor, a Prince of Cappadocia ‡ and his three sons, Parille, Azubar and Sabbilar. After the fall of the city these three brothers went to Rome, and were overwhelmed with gracious gifts by the Emperor. Parille received his daughter Argusilla § for wife, and some provinces in France were also given to him. To the brothers Azubar and Sabbilar were given Anschowe (Anjou) and Kornwaleis (Cornwall). To Parille and Argusilla was born a son whom they named Titurisone, who became the stem of the Grail-Race. Parille tried to reform and Christianize his pagan provinces, which had fallen into degraded superstitions, but he was poisoned by the people and Titurisone reigned in his place. He married Elizabel of Arragonia, and the royal couple went on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. There it was they received the prophecy about the great future of the son who should be born to them. He was to be under the special protection of God, and he would be dowered with, great gifts. His name was to be formed from those of his father and mother; thus Titurel was he called, which includes a part of Titurisone and Elizabel. He grew in grace and in "favour with God and man." In him was embodied the true type of the ideal Knight, noble, pure, tender and chivalrous. Such was Titurel, the first Grail-King; and—say some accounts—he conquered the rebellious heathen of Auvergne and Navarre, with the help of the Provençals, and the people of Arles and Lotheringen. These combined forces—so runs the tradition—conquered the Saracenic union, and put down the degraded remnants of the old Druidical worship. It was after these long struggles were completed that Titurel was bidden to prepare and build the Temple for the reception of the Holy Grail—that perfect treasure which was to be entrusted to his charge. Amongst the "powers" and "gifts" with which Titurel was dowered was that of " length of days," for when the temple was builded, and he was commanded to marry, in order that the Grail-Race might be continued, Titurel had reached four hundred years of age. The site where the sacred Shrine, or Grail-Temple, was to be founded was shown to him by an angel-guide; so carefully secluded was the spot, that it could not be discovered but by the aid of a higher Power. It is without doubt on the far side of Pyrenees * that we find this legend most deeply engrafted, though the name of its abiding place is differently rendered by various writers. Thus the name Mon Salväsch, † or Mont Salvat, may from its wild and inaccessible position only mean the uncultivated mountain, Mont Salvatge or Sauvage. It is said that between Navarre and Arragon there is still a place named Salvaterra. The site of the Temple was shown to Titurel, and the "Invisible Helpers" brought him materials for the building; the description is marvellously elaborate, full of symbolical detail, ‡ entirely oriental in its whole construction, both material and ideal, but it cannot here be given, as our sketch is limited to Titurel himself. When the building of the Temple was completed he was four hundred years old, but such was the power of the Holy Grail that he looked—says the tradition—only forty. And now he gathered around himself that goodly company of knights—the Knights of the Temple Holy—and gradually their influence and their power spread into other lands; first Arragon and then Navarre were drawn to this spiritual society, then followed Catalonia, Grenada and Gallicia; the chief town of this great alliance was concealed in the forests on the boundaries between Navarre and Arragon, on the ridge of the Pyrenees. The centre of the spiritual supremacy of the new faith reached from Gallicia beyond Provence, towards Burgundy and Lorraine. All of this was done during the four hundred years of Titurel's reign. San Marte speaks of it as a " similar institution to that which existed in the Pythagorean Alliance." The Sacred Grail was enshrined in the Temple, and the instructions to the King and his knights appeared on its surface, remained there for a while, then faded slowly away. And now was given the order for Titurel to marry, and the wife chosen for him was Richonde, a maiden consecrated to God. Her father's name was Frimutelle, a king of a Spanish province; messengers were sent to her, and she came to Mon Salvatsch accompanied by a great suite of maidens and of warriors, all of whom returned to Spain except those whom the Grail ordered to remain. Titurel had to select two hundred knights from amongst those who came; moral qualifications alone fitted them to enter the service of the Grail. Two children were born to Titurel. His son Frimutel, who married the daughter of the King of Grenat, became the next Grail-King, and they had five children—Amfortas, who succeeded him as Grail-King; Herzeloide, the mother of Parzival; Treverizent, the hermit; Tchoysiane, and Urepanse. This was the male line. The daughter of Titurel married Kailet, King of Spain, the capital of which was, at this time, Toledo, and this marriage connected the Kings of Spain with the Kings of the Grail-Race. It must be remembered that it was at Toledo that the manuscript on the Holy Grail legend was found by Flegetanis, the contents of which gave the Eastern sources of this tradition. By daily contemplation of the Grail Titurel's life * had been prolonged for five hundred years, and when he knew his forces were beginning to fail him, he gathered his children round him to instruct them on the spiritual significance of the Holy Grail. Thus he taught: no one may ever see the Grail but the elect; those who do not live a holy life, and guard themselves in purity and from all strife, are not fit to gaze upon that holiness; no tongue may ever tell the Grail's true form. Titurel also instructed his knights as to the inner meaning of the symbols and ceremonial they used, particularly the spiritual significance and power of the twelve precious stones. He sorrowed that his son Frimutelle had not been "called" by the Grail to be the Grail-King. Shortly after this, we are told, the name of Frimutelle appeared on the Grail, and then followed the names of the Knights who were to enter the Grail service. Titurel was also warned that his son, and his grandson, Amfortas, would suffer bodily injuries, as the result of their ungoverned natures. Finally, Titurel died in India, more than five hundred years old. * Of his journey thither we know nothing, but the tradition runs, that there is a "waiting place," † whence the return of these knightly souls is expected, in that region of peace, where they dwell and watch over the human race. Thus passes the Founder of the Grail-Kingship from our immediate view; he had but to strike the keynote of a higher purity and a nobler manhood, and his work in the material world of that period ended. He still holds, we are told, communication with the world, and occasionally despatches a faithful champion to grant assistance in cases of momentous need. There also the Grail maintains the sanctity of its character, and becomes at once the register of human grievances and necessities, and the interpreter of the will of heaven as to the best mode of redressing them.

- Father: Sextus Claudius Pretonius Probus DI ANICII
- Mother: Anicia Faltonia Proba DI ANICII
- Birth: 377, Italy, Roman Empire
- Title Of Nobility: attested as Quaestor - by the Emperor
- LifeSketch: Anicius Probinus (fl. 395–397) was a politician and aristocrat of the Roman Empire. Biography A member of the noble gens Anicia, Probinus was the son of Sextus Claudius Petronius Probus, one of the most influential men of his era and consul in 371, and of Anicia Faltonia Proba; he was then the brother of Anicius Hermogenianus Olybrius, Anicius Petronius Probus and Anicia Proba. According to a reconstruction,[1] Probinus was the father of Petronius Maximus, briefly Western Roman emperor in the spring of 455. Probinus was raised with his brother Olybrius in Rome, where he was born.[2] He and his brother Olybrius shared the consulate in 395, while both were very young;[3] Claudian dedicated Panegyricus de consulatu Probini et Olybrii to the brothers on this occasion. Although they belonged to a traditionally pagan senatorial family, Olybrius and Probinus were Christians. Probinus was then proconsul of Africa in 396-397. While proconsul, in 396 he received a letter from Quintus Aurelius Symmachus (Epistols, ix); on 17 March 397 he received a law preserved in the Codex Theodosianus (XII.5.3). Arusianus Messius dedicated his Exempla elocutionem to both brothers, and Symmachus addressed a letter to both in 397 (Epistles, v). It is known that Probinus composed verses. ____________ Anicius Petronius Probus (fl. 395–406 AD) was a politician of the Western Roman Empire. A member of the gens Anicia, he was the son of Sextus Claudius Petronius Probus (consul in 371) and of Anicia Faltonia Proba; his elder brothers were Anicius Hermogenianus Olybrius and Anicius Probinus (consuls in 395), and his sister was Anicia Proba. In 395, he is attested as quaestor elected by the Emperor. In 406, Anicius was consul contemporaneously with the Eastern Emperor Arcadius. One of his consular diptychs is preserved at the Museo del tesoro della cattedrale di Aosta, and depicts Emperor Honorius. Probus was a Christian. ____________

Anicius Petronius Probus DI ANICI
\-Anicia Faltonia Proba DI ANICII
- Birth: 347, Rome, Italy, Roman Empire
- Clan Name: member of the Anicii... or gens Anicia
- LifeSketch: Anicia Faltonia Proba (died in Africa, 432) was a Roman noblewoman of the gens Anicia. Proba's father was Quintus Clodius Hermogenianus Olybrius (consul in 379); the famous poet Faltonia Betitia Proba was her grandmother. She married Sextus Claudius Petronius Probus (consul in 371), and had three sons - Anicius Hermogenianus Olybrius and Anicius Probinus, joint consuls in 395, and Anicius Petronius Probus consul in 406 - and one daughter, Anicia Proba. Her son Olybrius married Anicia Juliana, and his daughter Demetrias was Proba's granddaughter. She was related to the aristocratic families of the Petronii, Clodii Celsini and Anicii; in two inscriptions dating to 395 she is described as daughter, wife and mother of consuls. In 395 she was already a widow. A Christian, she was in contact with several members of the cultural circles of her age, among which Augustine of Hippo and John Chrysostom, in favour of whom she acted. Proba was in Rome during the sack of the city in 410; according to Procopius of Caesarea, she opened the gates of the city to relieve the sufferings of the people besieged, but historians have suggested that this story was forged by her enemies. She then fled to Africa with her daughter-in-law Anicia Iuliana and her granddaughter Demetrias, but here she was abused by Heraclianus, who imprisoned and then freed them only after receiving a huge sum. Proba inherited several possessions in Asia, and sold them to give the money to the Church and to the poor. She died in Africa in 432; it is known that her husband had been buried in the Old St. Peter's Basilica in a tomb where Proba was to be buried too. As several other women in her family, Proba was well-educated. Her grandmother, Faltonia Betitia Proba, was a poet. Anicia probably composed the epigraph in honour of the husband, and her granddaughter Demetrias was a friend of Jerome's, who describes her as well educated. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anicia_Faltonia_Proba

- LifeSketch: Wikipedia - Anicia Juliana (Constantinople, 462 – 527/528) was a Late Antiquity Roman imperial princess, wife of the magister militum of the eastern Roman empire, Areobindus Dagalaiphus Areobindus, patron of the great Church of St Polyeuctus in Constantinople, and owner of the Vienna Dioscurides. She was the daughter of the Roman emperor Olybrius (r. 472) and his wife Placidia, herself the daughter of the emperor Valentinian III (r. 425–455) and Licinia Eudoxia, through whom Anicia Juliana was also great-granddaughter of the emperor Theodosius II (r. 402–450) and the sainted empress Aelia Eudocia. During the rule of the Leonid dynasty and the rise of the later Justinian dynasty, Anicia Juliana was thus the most prominent member of both the preceding imperial dynasties, the Valentinianic dynasty established by Valentinian the Great (r. 364–375) and the related Theodosian dynasty established by Theodosius the Great (r. 379–395). Her son Olybrius Junior served as a Roman consul whilst only a child and married the niece of the emperor Anastasius I (r. 491–518), the daughter of Anastasius's brother Paulus. Despite Anicia Juliana's ambitions her son never became emperor, being ignored in the accession of Justin I (r. 518–527) after the death of Anastasius and the fall of the Leonid dynasty. Life She married Flavius Areobindus Dagalaiphus Areobindus, and their children included Olybrius, consul for 491. With her husband, she spent her life at the pre-Justinian court of Constantinople, of which she was considered "both the most aristocratic and the wealthiest inhabitant".[1] Her glittering genealogy aside, Juliana is primarily remembered as one of the first non-reigning female patrons of art in recorded history. From what little we know about her personal predilections, it appears that she "directly intervened in determining the content, as well, perhaps, as the style" of the works she commissioned.[2] Her pro-Roman political views, as espoused in her letter to Pope Hormisdas (preserved in the royal library of El Escorial) are reflected in the Chronicle of Marcellinus Comes, who has been associated with her literary circle. Whether Juliana entertained political ambitions of her own is uncertain, but it is known that her husband declined to take up the crown during the 512 riots. Although she resolutely opposed the Monophysite leanings of Emperor Anastasius, she permitted her son Olybrius to marry the Emperor's niece.[3] Artistic patronage[edit] Juliana's name is attached to the Vienna Dioscurides, also known as the Anicia Juliana Codex, an illuminated manuscript codex copy of Pedanius Dioscorides's De materia medica, known as the one of the earliest and most lavish manuscripts still in existence. It has a frontispiece with a donor portrait of Anicia Juliana, the oldest surviving such portrait in the history of manuscript illumination. The patrikia is shown enthroned and flanked by the personifications of Megalopsychia (Magnanimity) and Phronesis (Prudence), with a small female allegory labelled "Gratitude of the Arts" (Byzantine Greek: Eucharistia ton technon) performing proskynesis in honour of the patrikia, kissing her feet.[4] A putto is at Anicia Juliana's right side, handing her a codex and labelled with the Greek: ΠΟΘΟΣ ΤHΣ ΦΙΛΟΚΤΙΣΤΟΥ, romanized: pothos tes philoktistou, lit. 'yearning of the creation-lover', added in a later scribe's handwriting, interpreted as "the Desire to build", "the Love of building", or "the Desire of the building-loving woman".[4] The same hand has labelled the central figure as Sophia (Wisdom).[4] Folio 6 verso of the Vienna Dioscurides The badly damaged encircling inscription proclaims Juliana as a great patron of art and identifies the people of Honoratae (a town on the Asiatic shore of the Bosporus) as having given the codex to Anicia Juliana.[4] She probably received the book in gratitude for her having built a church in the town.[4] The inscription is corroborated by the 8th–9th-century chronicler Theophanes Confessor in a notice of the year 512 that Anicia Juliana dedicated a church to the Theotokos in Honoratae that year.[4] Emphasizing her membership of the ancient patrician Anicia gens through her father Flavius Anicius Olybrius, the inscription reads:[4] ΙΟΥ ΔΟΞΑΙϹΙ(Ν ΑΝΑϹϹΑ?) (ΟΝ)ΩΡΑΤ(ΑΙ Ϲ') Α(ΓΑ)Θ(ΑΙ)Ϲ Π(Α)Ϲ(ΑΙϹ) ΓΜΝΟΥϹΙΝ Κ(ΑΙ) ΔΟ(ΞΑΖΟΥϹΙΝ) ΛΑΛΙϹΑΙ ΓΑΡ ΕΙϹ ΠΑΣΑ(Ν) ΓΗΝ (Ι)ΗϹ'Η ΜΕΓΑΛΟ(Ψ)ΥΧΙΑ ΑΝΙΚΗΩΡΩΝ ΓΕΝΟ(Ϲ) ΠΕΛΕΙϹ ΝΑΟΝ (ΔΕ) Κ(ΓΡ)ΙΟΥ ΗΓΙΡΑϹ ΑΝΩ (ΠΡΟΕΚΒ)ΑΝΤΑ ΚΑΙ ΚΑΛΩϹ Hail, oh princess, Honoratae extols and glorifies you with all fine praises; for Magnanimity [Megalopsychia] allows you to be mentioned over the entire world. You belong to the family of the Anicii, and you have built a temple of the Lord, raised high and beautiful. —Codex Vindobonensis med. gr. 1. f. 6v.[5][6] —translation from Iohannis Spatharakis (1976) and Bente Kiilerich (2001) Of her architectural projects, we know only three churches which she commissioned to be erected and embellished in Constantinople. The ornate basilica of St Polyeuctus was built on her extensive family estates during the last three years of her life, with the goal of highlighting her illustrious pedigree which ran back to Theodosius I and Constantine the Great. Until Justinian's extension of the Hagia Sophia, it was the largest church in the imperial capital, and its construction was probably seen as a challenge to the reigning dynasty.[7] The dedicatory inscription compares Juliana to King Solomon and overtly alludes to Aelia Eudocia, Juliana's great-grandmother, who founded this church: Eudocia the empress, eager to honor God, first built here a temple of Polyektos the servant of God. But she did not make it as great and beautiful as it is... because her prophetic soul told her that she would leave a family well knowing how to adorn it. Whence Juliana, the glory of her blessed parents, inheriting their royal blood in the fourth generation, did not disappoint the hopes of the empress, the mother of a noble race, but raised this from a small temple to its present size and beauty. - LifeSketch: Petronius Maximus (c. 397 – 31 May 455) was Roman emperor of the West for two and a half months in 455. A wealthy senator and a prominent aristocrat, he was instrumental in the murders of the Western Roman magister militum, Aëtius, and the Western Roman emperor, Valentinian III. Maximus secured the throne the day after Valentinian's death by ensuring the backing of the Senate and by bribing the palace officials. He strengthened his position by forcing Valentinian's widow to marry him and forcing Valentinian's daughter to marry his son. He cancelled the betrothal of his new wife's daughter to the son of the Vandal king Genseric. This infuriated both his stepdaughter and Genseric, who sent a fleet to Rome. Maximus failed to obtain troops from the Visigoths and he fled as the Vandals arrived, became detached from his retinue and bodyguard in the confusion, and was killed. The Vandals thoroughly sacked Rome. Petronius Maximus was born about 397. Although he was of obscure origin, it is believed that he belonged to the Anicius and Petronius families. Related to the later Emperor Olybrius, Maximus was the son of Anicius Probinus, and the grandson of Anicia Faltonia Proba and Sextus Claudius Petronius Probus, who was prefect of Illyricum in 364, prefect of Gaul in 366, prefect of Italy from 368 to 375 and again in 383 and consul in 371. Maximus had a remarkable early career. His earliest known office was praetor, held in about 411; around 415 he served as a tribunus et notarius, which was an entry position to the imperial bureaucracy and led to his serving as comes sacrarum largitionum (count of the sacred largess) between 416 and 419. From January or February 420 to August or September 421 he was praefectus urbi of Rome, meaning that he had executive authority for much of the municipal administration of Rome; he held the office again sometime before 439. As praefectus he restored the Old St. Peter's Basilica. He was also appointed praetorian prefect, a leading military and judicial position, sometime between 421 and 439. It was either while holding this post or during his second urban prefecture that he was appointed consul for the year 433. Becoming a consul was considered the highest honour of the Roman state. From August 439 to February 441 he held the praetorian prefecture of Italy, the most important administrative and judicial non-imperial position in the Western Empire. He was awarded a second consulship in 443. In 445 he was granted the title of patrician, the Empire's senior honorific title, which was limited to a very small number of holders. During this year he was briefly the most honoured of all non-imperial Romans, until the third consulate of Flavius Aëtius, generalissimo, or magister militum, of the Western Empire, the following year. Between 443 and 445 Maximus built a forum, the Forum Petronii Maximi,[11] in Rome, on the Caelian Hill between the via Labicana and the Basilica di San Clemente.[

- LifeSketch: Sextus Claudius Petronius Probus (fl. 358–390) was a leading Roman aristocrat of the later 4th century AD, renowned for his wealth, power and social connections. A Christian and a scion of the powerful Anician family from Verona, he married Anicia Faltonia Proba, the daughter of his first cousin Quintus Clodius Hermogenianus Olybrius, by whom he had two sons, Anicius Probinus and Anicius Hermogenianus Olybrius. Through his sons, Probus was the paternal grandfather of two emperors, Petronius Maximus and Olybrius. According to the family tree published by Mommaerts and Kelley, Probus was a son of Petronius Probinus, consul in 341, and "Claudia"/"Clodia", a sister of Clodius Celsinus Adelfius. Faltonia Betitia Proba, a Christian poet, was sister to this Probinus and wife of Adelphus. Hermogenianus was a son of Proba and Adelphus. The elder Probinus and Proba were children of Petronius Probianus, consul in 322. Mommaerts and Kelley consider his wife to be an "Anicia", a sister to Amnius Anicius Julianus. Claudia and Adelphus were children of Clodius Celsinus and Demetrias. The eldest Probianus was a son of Petronius Annianus, consul in 314. Mommaerts and Kelley consider his wife to be "Proba", a daughter of Probus. Probus was married to her first cousin once removed on her father's side Anicia Faltonia Proba (ca 365 - 410–432), daughter of Quintus Clodius Hermogenianus Olybrius and wife Turrenia Anicia Juliana or Anicia Faltonia Proba, by whom he had three sons, Anicius Probinus, Anicius Hermogenianus Olybrius and Anicius Petronius Probus. Probus' career was one of the most noteworthy in his age. He began as quaestor, and then became praefectus urbanus. He was Proconsul of Africa in 358 and then Praetorian prefect four times: of Illyricum in 364, of Gaul in 366, of Italy, Illyricum, and Africa in 368-375 and again in 383–384; in the meantime, he held the consulship in 371, with Emperor Gratian as colleague. In 372 he defended Sirmium against barbarian attack and in that same year he proclaimed Ambrose governor of Aemilia et Liguria. In 375 Probus was accused of corruption and oppression in extorting taxes for Valentinian I. He served under Emperor Valentinian II, following him at the Eastern court when Magnus Maximus rebelled in the West. His date of death is unknown, though he was still living in 390 when, according to the Vita Ambrosii of Paulinus of Milan, two Persian noblemen presented themselves before Theodosius I at Mediolanum but departed the next day for Rome in order to see for themselves Petronius Probus, the pride of the Roman aristocracy, a legend in his own lifetime. Tomb Petronius Probus was buried in a mausoleum built for him by his wife Anicia Faltonia Proba on the Vatican Hill. As the most prestigious burial place beside Saint Peter's tomb in Old St Peter's Basilica had already been occupied by the sarcophagus of Probus's predecessor, the consul and praefectus urbanus Junius Bassus. Probus's mausoleum was constructed immediately outside the western apse of the basilica. Probus was interred at St Peter's many decades before the first pope buried there – Pope Leo I – was interred in 461, and in a position closer the apostle's tomb than was possible for the imperial Mausoleum of Honorius, attached to the basilica's southern transept in the early 5th century for the burials of the Theodosian dynasty. Fame On various inscriptions, Probus is described as "the summit of the Anician house" (Aniciae domus culmen), "most learned in all subjects" (omnibus rebus eruditissimus) and "the acme of the nobility, the light of literature and eloquence" (nobilitatis culmen, litterarum et eloquentiae lumen). These phrases suggest he was a patron of literature, including of the poet Ausonius. His two sons Probinus and Olybrius continued the tradition by being the patrons of Claudian, who paints a flattering picture of Probus in his Panegyricus dictus Probino et Olybrio consulibus written to celebrate his sons' joint consulship in 395. Ammianus Marcellinus portrays him as a vain and rapacious man who "owned estates in every part of the empire, but whether they were honestly come by or not is not for a man like me to say". Ammianus adds that Probus was one who was benevolent to his friends and a pernicious schemer against his enemies, servile to those more powerful than him and pitiless to those weaker, who craved office and exercised enormous influence through his wealth, always insecure and petty even at the height of his power. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sextus_Claudius_Petronius_Probus

- LifeSketch: Amnius Anicius Julianus (fl. 322–329) was a politician of the Roman Empire. Anicius Julianus was consul in 322 with Petronius Probianus, praefectus urbi Romae between 326 and 329. He is identified with the proconsul of Africa who, in 302, received a rescript (an answer to a request for clarification that Julianus had sent) from emperor Diocletian, which ordered the suppression of the Manichees in Africa, accused of being in contact with the Sassanian Empire. It has been proposed that the Julianus who was proconsul of Africa could have been active in 296–297 and that he was put to death by Maximian on fabricated treason charges; the rebel in Africa should be, therefore, linked to Sabinus Julianus, a usurper in Africa recorded in Aurelius Victor's Caesares 39.22. Christian Settipani has tried to reconstruct Julianus' family ties. According to his studies, Julianus, probably born around 270, was the son of Anicius Faustus, consul in 298, and younger brother of Sextus Anicius Paulinus, consul in 325. Julianus married Caesonia Manilia (born c. 275), daughter of Lucius Caesonius Ovinius Rufinus Manilius Bassus (or Rufinius), consul in 280; they had a son, Amnius Manius Caesonius Nicomachus Anicius Paulinus Honorius, consul in 334. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amnius_Anicius_Julianus

- Birth: 296, Roma, Italy, Roman Empire
- Also known as: Amnius Manius Caesonius Nicomachus Anicius Paulinus signo Honorius
- Occupation: Roman Consul - with Flavius Optatus, 334
- Occupation: Praefectus Urbi, 335, Roma, Italy, Roman Empire
- Clan Name: member of the Anicii ... gens Anicia
- LifeSketch: Amnius Manius Caesonius Nicomachus Anicius Paulinus signo Honorius (simplified as Amnius Anicius Paulinus; fl. 334–335 AD) was a politician of the Roman Empire. Paulinus probably was the son of Amnius Anicius Julianus, consul in 322, and the nephew of Sextus Anicius Paulinus, consul in 325. He was thus a member of the gens Anicia. Paulinus was consul in 334 and praefectus urbi of Rome in 334–335. In 334 he erected an equestrian statue to emperor Constantine I in the Roman Forum; a statue was dedicated to him in the Forum of Trajan, whose inscription celebrates Paulinus for "his high birth, his eloquence, his fairness, and his good judgment, for which he is renowned in private and in public". Christian Settipani has tried to reconstruct Paulinus' familial bonds. According to Settipani, Paulinus was married to Pincia (born c. 305) or, better, to Auchenia. His wife was perhaps the daughter of Pincius (b. c. 280 and c.v. in the beginning of the 4th century) and wife Caeionia (b. 285 or 290), in turn perhaps the daughter of (Marcus) Caeionius Proculus, suffect consul of Rome in 289, and wife Alfenia Juliana. They were perhaps the parents of Anicius Auchenius Bassus, praefectus urbi of Rome in 382. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amnius_Anicius_Paulinus

Amnius Anicius Paulinus DI ANICII, Roman Consul 334
\-Caesonia Manilia CAESONII
- Father: Sextus Claudius Pretonius Probus DI ANICII
- Mother: Anicia Faltonia Proba DI ANICII
- Birth: ABT 374, Roma, Italy, Roman Empire
- Title Of Nobility: Roman Consul - with his brother Anicius Hermogenianus Olybrius
- LifeSketch: Anicius Probinus (fl. 395–397) was a politician and aristocrat of the Roman Empire. A member of the noble gens Anicia, Probinus was the son of Sextus Claudius Petronius Probus, one of the most influential men of his era and consul in 371, and of Anicia Faltonia Proba; he was then the brother of Anicius Hermogenianus Olybrius, Anicius Petronius Probus and Anicia Proba. According to a reconstruction, Probinus was the father of Petronius Maximus, briefly Western Roman emperor in the spring of 455. Probinus was raised with his brother Olybrius in Rome, where he was born. He and his brother Olybrius shared the consulate in 395, while both were very young; Claudian dedicated Panegyricus de consulatu Probini et Olybrii to the brothers on this occasion. It is known that Probinus composed verses. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anicius_Probinus

- LifeSketch: Wikipedia- Theodelinda also spelled Theudelinde (c. 570–628 AD), was a queen of the Lombards by marriage to two consecutive Lombard rulers, Autari and then Agilulf, and regent of Lombardia during the minority of her son Adaloald, and co-regent when he reached majority, from 616 to 626. For well over thirty years, she exercised influence across the Lombard realm, which comprised most of Italy between the Apennines and the Alps. Born a Frank Catholic, she convinced her first spouse Autari to convert from pagan beliefs to Christianity.[1] Life She was the daughter of duke Garibald I of Bavaria and Walderada.[2] Born a Bavarian princess to King Garibald, Theodelinda's heritage included being descended on her mother's side from the previous Lombard king, Waco, whose family had ruled seven generations prior according tradition.[3] First marriage Theodelinda was married first in 588 to Authari, king of the Lombards, son of King Cleph. There are indications that Pope Gregory I may have had an interest in encouraging this marriage as it would tie a Bavarian Catholic with the Arian Lombards,[a] something he did previously, when he promoted the marriage between the Frankish princess Bertha—great-granddaughter of Clovis—and the Kentish Aethelbehrt.[5] Theodelinda's time with Authari was brief for he died in 590.[6] Second marriage So highly esteemed across the Lombard kingdom was Theodelinda that when Authari died, she was asked to remain in power and to choose a successor.[7] Historian Roger Collins has misgivings with the reliability of this claim—which stems from Paul the Deacon[b]—and instead, asserts that both political bargaining or naked force were more likely attributable to her choice.[9] Whatever the real situation, a mere two months after Authari's death, Theodelinda picked Agilulf as her next husband and the two were wed.[10][c] She thereafter exerted much influence in restoring Nicene Christianity to a position of primacy in Italy against its rival, Arian Christianity. Her reach extended across most of the Italian peninsula between the Apennines and the Alps.[6] While her husband Agilulf retained his Arian faith, he allowed his son with Theodelinda to be baptized a Catholic.[12] The Lombard king faced trouble from his dukes, who were convinced that he had consigned himself instead to the faith of the conquered.[1] Agilulf did not permit Theodelinda's faith to shape his policies against the Byzantines.[12] Frequently, Theodelinda corresponded with Pope Gregory (590–604) in letters, some of which are recorded by the eighth-century historian, Paul the Deacon.[7] Some of the content in these letters concerned her husband's conversion.[13] To further promulgate the Christian faith of the Catholics, she also welcomed Catholic missionaries across her realm.[7] Taking full advantage of her piety and possibly to incentivize her continued Catholic proclivities, Pope Gregory sent her a series of silver ampullas of Syro-Palestinian craftsmanship, a gospel casket, and a golden cross from Byzantium.[14] The cross was gem-encrusted and was meant as a symbol of the "impending Kingdom of God".[15][d] Regent Shortly before Agilulf's death in 616, he named Theodelinda co-regent for their son Adaloald and once he reached maturity, she remained co-ruler over the kingdom.[16][7] For a period of some thirty-five years Theudelinda was queen of the Lombards.[17] Perhaps to further exhibit her faith, she constructed a Catholic cathedral dedicated to St. John the Baptist at Monza (near Milan) and richly endowed it. Her support for the Catholic faith also included the establishment of monasteries—one at Bobbio,[18] and later one at Pedona, among others according to Paul the Deacon.[19] Within "the treasure house" that is the cathedral at Monza, one finds a splendidly detailed sculpture of a mother hen and her chicks made of gilded silver, which was likely another gift from Pope Gregory.[20][e]
- Paulus Diaconus berichtet, dass Awaren die in Cividale einfielen, eine der dortigen Herzogs-Töchter an den bayerischen Herzog „verkauften“: Paulus Diaconus reports that Avars who invaded Cividale "sold" one of the duke's daughters there to the Bavarian duke Garibald II

- LifeSketch: Radoald (also Raduald) (died 651) was the duke of Benevento (the southernmost Lombard duchy in medieval Italy) from 646 to his death in 651. His "adopted" elder brother, Aiulf, was mentally unstable and Radoald and their younger brother Grimoald served as regents. Radoald and Grimoald were brothers and younger sons of Gisulf II of Friuli and Romilda of Friuli. They were adopted sons of Arechis I of Benevento, of whom Aiulf was a natural son. In 646, Slavic plunderers landed near Siponto on the Adriatic. Aiulf personally led his forces against the intruders, but his horse fell into a pit dug by the Slavs around their camp and he was surrounded and killed. Radoald succeeded him with the support of King Rothari. Radoald knew the Slavic language and induced them to depart. He was succeeded by Grimoald. Wikipedia-
