- Father: Henry GREGORY
- Mother: Mary Abigail GOODY
- Birth: 1616, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England
- Also known as: Perrie Gregory
- Also known as: Perry Gregory
- LifeSketch: Perry/Perrie was a daughter of Henry Gregory of Nottingham, England, also seen called Persis in some genealogies. Her siblings were Elizabeth John, Elishaphat, Judah, William, Abigail, Anne, and Triphosa. Persis was a name adopted by some Puritans in the seventeenth century, likely based on the Roman woman of that name who was an early follower of Christ, and whom St. Paul called "beloved" and having "worked hard in the Lord." All that is known about Perry is that she was a daughter of Henry's who was singled out in her uncle William's 1650/1651 will. Grant Gregory (author of the "Ancestors and Descendants of Henry Gregory" book) believed she remained in England. Henry's brother William was mayor of Nottingham in 1632-3 and 1639-40. ... In his will, signed June 18, 1650; probated Feb. 5, 1651, William Gregory made a bequest of supreme importance to us as it enabled us to trace our ancestry in England. It follows: "I give to my brother, Henry Gregory, twenty marks, if he live six months after my decease, and to every child of his body lawfully begotten (except my cousin Perry, his daughter) that shall be living at the end of six months after my decease, five pounds, to be paid within twelve months after my decease. I also give and bequeath the sum of four pounds to be paid toward the charges of fetching of the said legacie, given as aforesaid unto my said brother Henry and his children, they being now, as I am informed, in the parts beyond the seas called New England. I give and bequeath to my said cousin Perrie, my said brother Henry's daughter, the sum of ten pounds, to be paid within six months after my decease." Note that she is called both Perry and Perrie in this will, and both times specified as Henry's daughter. It is noteworthy that Perry/Perrie was the only one of William's children specifically named in this will; Grant Gregory stated as she received twice as much as her siblings, she was "William's favorite niece and lived in England." He also mentioned that Perry could be a nickname/petname for Persis, the name of Henry's great granddaughter, and carried down for generation. Note that Henry had emigrated to America in the late 1630s, so if Perry remained in England she would have to have been one of the older children, and perhaps even married.

- LifeSketch: "Thomas Gregory, son of Hugh and Mary, lived in and perhaps had migrated to the town of Over Broughton, earlier called Broughton Sulney, but now Upper Broughton in Nottinghamshire. An overlordship of both Broughton Sulney manor and Lancs. lands by the Honors of Puttney and Tutbury hints at a reason for Thomas moving so far from his ancestral home. His wife was Dorothy Beeston. Beeston families were in both Lancs. and Notts. J. T. Godfrey, historian of Lenton, calls Thomas and John, his son, yeomen (Landowning farmers), but I failed to find them mentioned as freeholders or tax payers in Over Broughton. It seems likely that father and son were tenants of the Broughton Sulney Manor, which still retains that name. Law's Hist. of the Hundred of Broxton, 1871, calls Thomas "a small farmer and grazier of Broughton Sulney." William Partyngton in 1546-7 bought Urmston lands from the John Gregorys, sr. and jr. When John Partyngton in 1559 sold Urmston lands to Edmund Trafford, of Trafford, his tenants included Thomas and John Gregory and another Thomas Gregory of Hillam, Urmston. A Thomas Gregory in 1543 had a small freehold in Urmston. Perhaps one of these Thomases was Hugh's son." - Grant Gregory's 1948 "Ancestors and Descendants of Henry Gregory" The 1675 Gregory Pedigree Chart highlights the heirs, and appears to omit many "spares". For Thomas it is succinct: . . . . . . . . . . (2) Hugo Gregory - Maria . . . . . . . . . . Thom. Gregory de Overbroughton Com. Nott. - Dorothea Beeston . . . . . . . . . . Johannes Gregory de Broughton Sulney - Alicia Thomas was the son of second-born son (the "spare") Hugh and father of John. As this chart was prepared by descendants of Hugh this spare is notated on the chart to establish Hugh's descendants' right to the Gregory-Omeston coat of arms. Hugh would have remained in Lancashire to make sure that his older brother John's sons reached maturity and had heirs themselves. Thus it was Hugh's son Thomas, born in Lancashire who moved to Nottinghamshire This chart should not be interpreted as documenting that Thomas had only one child, son John.

He fought his way by grazing and butchering live stock to riches and political power. He was school warden, chamberlain, sheriff (not of the shire, but of a weird "county of the Town of Nottingham" -- a county within a county) and coroner. He was elected, in 1627, one of the seven aldermen of Nott., and served (from the Bridge Ward) apparently continuously till his death. These aldermen took turns electing themselves mayor. William was mayor in 1632-3 and 1639-40.

He was born about 1160. He married before 1194 ISABEL FITZ WILLIAM (otherwise DE GRESSENHALL), widow successively of Berenger de Cressy, and Osmond de Stuteville, of Weston Colville, Cambridgeshire (died in Palestine, probably during the Siege of Joppa about 1187), and daughter and heiress of William Fitz Roger, of Gressenhall and Castleacre, Norfolk, by his wife, Aeliva. They had two sons, Roger, Knt., and presumably Saher, and four daughters, Alice, Isabel, Sarah, and Margaret (or Margery). In 1194 he disputed with his wife's son, William de Stuteville, concerning his wife's dower. In 1195 the Abbot of St. Edmunds granted the whole vill of Wendling, Norfolk to William de Huntingfield and his wife, Isabel, and her heirs for 50s. a year. Sometime c.1204-12, he witnessed a charter of Alexander, Abbot of Sibton to Thomas son of Roger de Huntingfield, presumably his brother. In 1205 he was granted the manor of Clafford, Hampshire. In the period, 1204-17, he witnessed a charter of Ralph the chaplain of Heveningham to John Fitz Robert, lord of Ubbeston. His wife, Isabel, died in 1207. In 1208 he had custody of the lands of his brother, Roger, which had been seized in consequence of the interdict. From 1208 to 1210 he was one of the justices before whom fines were levied. In the period, 1210-18, he witnessed a charter of his kinsman, Saher de Quincy, Earl of Winchester. In 1211 he gave the king six fair Norway goshawks for license to marry his daughter, Alice, then widow of Richard de Solers, and to have assignation of her dowry out of the lands of her late husband. In 1213 he held the office of accountant with Aubrey de Vere, Earl of Oxford, for the customs of Norfolk and Suffolk. In 1215 he joined the confederate barons against the king. He was one of the twenty-five barons appointed to secure the observance of Magna Carta, which King John signed 15 June 1215. He served as a witness to the charter granting freedom of elections to the abbeys. He was among the barons excommunicated by Pope Innocent III in late 1215, and his lands were taken into the king's hands. He reduced Essex and Suffolk for Prince Louis of France, and in retaliation John plundered his estates in Norfolk and Suffolk. In Nov. 1216 he was granted the vill of Grimsby, Lincolnshire with all liberties and free customs by Prince Louis of France. He fought at the Battle of Lincoln 20 May 1217, where he was taken prisoner by the king's forces. On 23 June 1217 all his lands in Lincolnshire were granted to John Marshal. On conclusion of peace, he made peace with King Henry III 6 Oct. 1217, and had restitution of his estates. In 1218 he sued Nichole de la Haye for the recovery of chattels worth £273, which she seized from him in Lincolnshire when he was at arms against the king; a compromise was reached whereby Nichole gave William 30 silver marks in return for which he quitclaimed to her "all the right and claim that he had against her." In 1219 he had leave to go to the Holy Land on crusade; he appointed Thomas his brother to act on his behalf during his absence. Children of William de Huntingfield, Knt., by Isabel Fitz William: i. ROGER DE HUNTINGFIELD, Knt. [see next]. ii. ALICE DE HUNTINGFIELD, married (1st) in or after 1200 RICHARD DE SOLERS, of Faccombe and Tangley, Hampshire, and Bonby, Lincolnshire, younger son of Guillaume (or William) de Solers (or Soliers), of Ellingham, Hampshire, Constable of Moulins-la-Marche, 1180, by Mabel, daughter of Robert Fitz Robert (or Fitz Count), of Conerton, Cornwell, Castellan of Gloucester [grandson of King Henry I of England]. In 1200, as "Ric[ardus] de "Soliis," he gave £600 Anjou to have his lands in Normandy and England, and to marry as he pleased. RICHARD DE SOLERS died shortly before Michaelmas 1207. In 1208 his widow, Alice, sued Thomas Peverel for one-half of vill of Faccornbe, Hampshire as her dower. In 1211 her father gave the king six fair Norway goshawks for the marriage of his daughter, Alice, widow of Richard de Solers, and to have assignation of her dowry out of the lands of her late husband. She married (2nd) before 1215 HUGH LE RUS (or RUFUS, RUFFUS), of Akenharn, Bircholt, Clopton, Hasketon, Stradbroke, and Whittingham (in Fressingfield), Suffolk, Sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk, 1225-7, son and heir of Ernald Rufus, of Bircholt, Hasketon, Stradbroke, and Whittingham (in Fressingfield), Suffolk, by his wife, Isabel. They had two sons, Hugh and William. He was granted the manor of Fawsley, Northamptonshire in 1214 by King John. In 1215 the Sheriff of Hampshire was ordered to deliver up to Hugh and Alice his wife the dower of Alice in Faccombe and Tangle)', Hampshire, of which they had been disseised in the Barons' War. He was granted a weekly market at Stradbroke, Suffolk in 1225. In 1227 he was granted a weekly market at Woodbridge, Suffolk, which he later granted to Woodbridge Priory. HUGH LE RUS died in 1230. - Tribe Name: Greuthengi
- Title Of Nobility: King of the Greuthengi
- LifeSketch: Ben M. Angel summary: Ostrogotha is supposed to have been the King of the Goths that led the future Visigoths and Ostrogoths to the region north of the Black Sea. The Goths first emerge on the shores of the Black Sea with the 238 raid on the Roman settlement of Histria (present Lake Sinoe on the Romanian Dobruja coast) and the pressure they exerted on the ancient Bosporan Kingdom in Crimea during the reign of King Ininthimeus 235-240. By 242, the Romans had evacuated from their client state, abandoning it to the Goths. (The Goths, however, would not apparently make any serious effort to conquer this kingdom until 342, a year after the last known Bosporan coin was minted.) Speculation about Cniva, the known leader of the 250 Gothic punitive raid on the Roman Balkans, being Ostrogotha apparently comes from Jordanes, who described the same event in two sets of passages, depicting them as separate raids. Not much can be determined from creating a timeline for Ostrogotha's life, as the only two states with any recorded history that he made contact with were on the Black Sea (and timelines are provided in the About Me section of his descendants through to the next great Gothic King, Airmanareiks. ******** From "The Origins and Deeds of the Goths" - Jordane (97) So then, as we were saying, Fastida, king of the Gepidae, stirred up his quiet people to enlarge their boundaries by war. He overwhelmed the Burgundians, almost annihilating them, and conquered a number of other races also. He unjustly provoked the Goths, being the first to break the bonds of kinship by unseemly strife. He was greatly puffed up with vain glory, but in seeking to acquire new lands for his growing nation, he only reduced the numbers of his own countrymen. --- (98) For he sent ambassadors to Ostrogotha, to whose rule Ostrogoths and Visigoths alike, that is, the two peoples of the same tribe, were still subject. Complaining that he was hemmed in by rugged mountains and dense forests, he demanded one of two things,--that Ostrogotha should either prepare for war or give up part of his lands to them. (99) Then Ostrogotha, king of the Goths, who was a man of firm mind, answered the ambassadors that he did indeed dread such a war and that it would be a grievous and infamous thing to join battle with their kin,--but he would not give up his lands. And why say more? The Gepidae hastened to take arms and Ostrogotha likewise moved his forces against them, lest he should seem a coward. They met at the town of Galtis, near which the river Auha flows, and there both sides fought with great valor; indeed the similarity of their arms and of their manner of fighting turned them against their own men. But the better cause and their natural alertness aided the Goths. (100) Finally night put an end to the battle as a part of the Gepidae were giving way. Then Fastida, king of the Gepidae, left the field of slaughter and hastened to his own land, as much humiliated with shame and disgrace as formerly he had been elated with pride. The Goths returned victorious, content with the retreat of the Gepidae, and dwelt in peace and happiness in their own land so long as Ostrogotha was their leader.

=Ragnvald OLAFSSON
- Father: Gudrod Jagtkonge HALFDANSSON
- Mother: Åsa HARALDSDOTTIR of Agder
- Birth: 810, Sogn, Oppland, Vestfold, Norway
- LifeSketch: Halfdan the Black (Old Norse: Halfdanr Svarti) (c.?810-c.?860) was a ninth-century king of Vestfold. He belonged to the House of Yngling and was the father of Harald Fairhair, the first king of Norway. «b»Biography«/b» According to Heimskringla and Fagsrkinna, Halfdan was the son of the Yngling King Gudrød the Hunter. Heimskringla also names his mother, as Åsa, daughter of King Harald of Agder, and his half-brother as Olaf Geirstad-Alf. Heimskringla relates that when Halfdan's father was killed, Åsa took the 1 year-old Halfdan and returned to Agder, where Halfdan was raised. When he was 18 or 19 years old, Halfdan became king of Agder. He quickly began adding to his kingdom, through political negotiation and military conquest. He divided the kingdom of Vestfold with his brother Olaf and, through military action, persuaded King Gandalf of Vingulmark to cede half his kingdom. Based on the formulaic nature of his ties to his predecessors, his strong affiliation with Agder, and the failure of an early saga dedicated to him to name any family connections, some scholars have suggested that the linkage to the earlier Yngling dynasty of Vestfold was a later invention, created to associate a conquering Halfdan and his son Harald Fairhair with the family glorified in the Ynglingatal, whom he had displaced. Halfdan next is said to have subdued an area called Raumarike. To secure his claim to Raumarike, Halfdan first defeated and killed the previous ruler, Sigtryg Eysteinsson, in battle. He then defeated Sigtryg's brother and successor Eystein, in a series of battles. This established Halfdan's claim not only to Raumarike, but also to half of Hedmark, the core of Sigtryg and Eystein's kingdom. These details are only mentioned in Heimskringla. Fagrskinna and Heimskringla both agree that Halfdan's first wife was Ragnhild, daughter of King Harald Gulskeg (Goldbeard) of Sogn. Halfdan and Ragnhild had a son named "Harald" after his grandfather, and they sent him to be raised at his grandfather's court. Harald Gulskeg, being elderly, named his grandson as his successor, shortly before his death. Ragnhild died shortly after her father, and the young king Harald fell sick and died the next spring. When Halfdan heard about his son's death, he travelled to Sogn and laid claim to the title of king. No resistance was offered, and Halfdan added Sogn to his realm. The narrative in Heimskringla then adds another conquest for King Halfdan. In Vingulmark, the sons of Gandalf of Vingulmark, Hysing, Helsing, and Hake, attempted to ambush Halfdan at night, but he escaped into the forest. After raising an army, he returned to defeat the brothers, killing Hysing and Helsing. Hake fled the country, and Halfdan became king of all of Vingulmark. According to Heimskringla, Halfdan's second wife, also named Ragnhild, had been kidnapped from her home by Hake, a "berserker" who encountered her father in Hadeland and killed him. Halfdan had her kidnapped from Hake, so that he could marry her. Fagrskinna does not mention any of these details. However, both sagas agree that Ragnhild and Halfdan had a son who was also named Harald. (Among the more unlikely claims in Fagrskinna and Heimskringla are that this woman was Ragnhild Sigurdsdotter, daughter of Sigurd Hjort, king of Ringerike. This would make Ragnhild the granddaughter or even great-granddaughter of Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye '96 an impossibility, given that most sources suggest that Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye was active only in the late 9th century, which would mean that he was born a generation or two after Halfdan the Black.) «b»Halvdanshaugen«/b» Heimskringla, Fagrskinna, Ágrip and Historia Norwegiæ all relate that Halfdan drowned when he fell through the ice at the inlet Røykenvik in the lake Randsfjorden on his return home from Hadeland. His horse and sleigh broke though ice weakened by cattle dung near a watering hole dug in the frozen lake. He was buried in a mound at Stein in Ringerike. Heimskringlas narrative adds that each of the districts of his kingdom wanted to claim his grave, and that it was agreed to divide his body into four pieces so each district could bury a piece of it, resulting in four different sites called Halvdanshaugen (from the Old Norse word haugr meaning mound). According to this version, only his head is buried in Ringerike. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halfdan_the_Black

- Birth: Britain
- Title Of Nobility: Regent of Britain - for her son Sisillius II
- LifeSketch: Queen Marcia was the legendary third female ruler and a regent of the Britons, as recounted by Geoffrey of Monmouth. She is presented by Geoffrey as "one of the most illustrious and praiseworthy of women in early British history". Marcia became Queen consort when she married Guithelin (Welsh: Kyhylyn) and ruled as regent for her son, Sisillius II. In her youth, she was a noblewoman and knowledgeable in all the arts. Queen Marcia ruled Britain for about five years after Guithelin's death because their son was just seven years old at the time. Geoffrey says that Queen Marcia was a learned woman who codified the Marcian Laws, the Lex Martiana. King Alfred the Great was later to translate the code into Old English as the basis of Mercian Laws, believing them to have been named after the much later Saxon kingdom of Mercia. Sisillius (Welsh: Saessyllt), came to the throne in ca 358 BC on Queen Marcia's death.
